    Thanks

I will drop the vcore a little as i go, its stable as it gets for now.

I did attempt 4.5ghz, but keeps crashing on SuperPI 32M
So ill have to do some more reading i think and work that out.
Boots to windows no worries @ 4.5, just not stable but then i might need more volts still. Something for another day

Actually under load its 1.296vcore - seems it wasnt loaded enough when i took the screen dump

Godmyster, why the 8.5 multi? You'll need more vcore the lower the multi. I'm really lucky to have a chip that can prime at 1.35 vcore 4.41GHz, but that's 9.5 multi. Overclocking is no easy task, so don't expect 4.2GHz to fall into your lap if you're not experienced.

Try those first, maybe little NB increase / more vFSB too. If those doesnt help more Vcore to go!

I know at first when..I got mine..I went straight to 4.5ghz to see if would do it and it did but was'nt stable and the volts was high...It's kinda fun to find out where you can be stable at with certain amount of volts you need to the Ghz speed right now I'm at 1.296vcore under load at 4.104ghz..and testing
how far..I can drop the vcore volts to be stable at 4.1ghz less volts less heat
    also..

Ye i was wondering if it was a matter of giving it more volts to get it stable or not, something i didnt have time to do that day.
I just let my mobo recover from the crash and just backed it off again.

Must admit the recover of this mobo is great without having to hit reset buttons etc etc (been a few years, so tech obviously has come a long way)

I reckon i can maybe drop it 1-3 points (lots of options in my BIOS), maybe even 4... but testing that will take a while with each drop.
I will add more once i go faster, or drop... or both!

I'm fairly sure the memory i have is A-OK, i could probably even drop those timings a little as well, although what gains ill get remain to be seen

Looks like you got a pretty nice chip.
You are right... to get 500x9 stable will require more voltage to vcore and possibly MCH/VTT.

Sounds like a great chip! What is the VID? and how are the temps at 1.35v and above?

My E8400 Q832A161's overhead noticeably drops once past 4.7. If you are really feeling ambitious... how about trying to get 533x9 stable.

If you bought a retail box cpu... the fpo/batch number will be listed on the box label. It is also printed on the actual cpu heatspreader.

VID is 1.2125 but it's getting very hot : 65 max under OCCT at only 1.26 (4.4 stable)

    max FSB is 641 (Nh-C12p)

Mine is 1.2250 and it runs hotter than my 1.25 vid E8600. I started out testing with the Xigmatek but with higher volts the temps were harder to manage. I switched to a TRUE with a Sanyo-Denki San-Ace but I think I'm going to end up runnning it under water.
