rob2k, I found your combination of 400 strap and CT Auto gives some very nice results at 475FSB/1:2

With CT AUTO, the 400 strap is a lot faster than it was....

I did some more Everest tests with 475x9/1:2/CL7. These are the best and worst results I got across the basic strap/CT/tRD combinations at that FSB.

    All tests : 475x9 / 1:2 / CL7

    266 strap / CT AUTO / AIBOOSTER AUTO (tRD7)

    333 strap / CT AUTO / AIBOOSTER AUTO (tRD6)

    400 strap / CT AUTO / AIBOOSTER AUTO (tRD6)

    ---------------------------------------------------
    with Manual tRD

    333 strap / CT AUTO / tRD 6

    333 strap / CT Strong / tRD 6

    400 strap / CT AUTO / tRD 6

    400 strap / CT Strong / tRD 6

@ cheapseats go 500 FSB and 2000mhz memory and see what timings you can achieve also I would like to see a better cpu frequency 4.5 or so with the 2000 mhz

congrats toyten good results all round, managed a 635 fsb , 600 is no prob but once i went over 615 had to up the northbridge volts to over 1.7, only problem i still have is running a high memory speed at a high fsb (over 600) no problems round 500fsb or less, any tips , i found highering the tref and manually setting performance level helped

    Hi, quattro,

Do you use a OC Profile for the eboot after flashing ? I had a similar issue willing to reboot on a Profile made under previous BIOSes. Tuning all parameters manually was the solution in my case.
In deed, the computer always rebooted everything by default, quiet annoying when one knows it was perfectly working right before the flashing. Hope I did help you

Anyone having corruption errors utilizing onboard Raid with 0 striping?

    Question

    Three questions:

    (1) What are these BIOS's that a user named "Kensek" is making, what is supposed to be special about them? Obviously Asus never released a 1001 BIOS so I assume this came from Kensek.

    (2) When installing the Thermalright HR-05 IFX heatsink, where did you folks put the thermal compound, on the SB/NB chip, or on the bottom of the HR-05? Thermalright actually lists in their instructions to put it on both. For me, it make sense to put it on the bottom of the HR-05, the surface area of that is less than my NB chip.

    (3) For RAM, is anyone running 8GB on this board? I have 4GB but want 8GB, my mild overclocking indicates the RAM will be running at stock 1600 MHz speed, i.e. 400 FSB, 8.5 multiplier, 3400 MHz (3.4 GHz), 1600 MHz RAM speed. I remember Intel's DX48BT2 board warned against installing more than 4GB, I saw no such warning on this board.

    Thanks all.

Yeah I am. If you llok a few pages back (20? 30?) you will see my setting.
No problems what so ever with 8Gb and 64bit Vista.

Running with 2 X 1TB RAID 0 Matrix and 2 X 1TB Speeding RAID 0. No issues. I have had to clone images back, but that was due to high FSB. Never an issue with failed RAID's. However, when the Speeding RAID 0 is enabled there is a halt while initializing in the Windows Boot. Halt is about 8 seconds.

Then one of my velicorators has failed after 2 months. Intel Raid 0 Rom indicates:

WDC WD1500HLS-0 (Error occurred (0)). I had my system imaged as well and re-installed but after a few hours I get BSOD and corrupt files. It might be the motherboard as well, not sure but I'm running the Maxtor 4.3 test on it to see.

    Confirmed - Defective drive

my watercooling setup is almost done and I should be getting the HAF 932 around the new year for it dont know what to do phase change the 1200 and H20 cool the HAF seems more logical but then I need to rebuild both pcs but either way you should see me running 5ghz or 5.3 24/7 on the 8600 the phase unit is slowly coming along hopefully before the new year it should be finished aswell just waiting on some parts

They did? I checked Asus's web-site, the latest is 901:

    Description Rampage Extreme 0901 Bios
Fix if use 2 pieces of HD4870X2 to build CrossfireX it may get no display from the VGA card which is inserted in the PCI-E X16_1 slot
File Size 915.62 (KBytes) 2008/11/25 update

Maybe their FTP site has something newer?

Excellent news, that inspires confidence that I can buy another 4GB of Kingston HyperX DDR3 1625 RAM modules and they'll work. I'll wait until around new year, hopefully they'll have a sale. Kingston's web-site discounts their RAM once it's in the basket, plus I have a 20% off coupon.

    Question

A question to the overclocking gurus on this web-site...

If I'm overclocking my Q9550 stock 2.83 GHz to 3.4 GHz (FSB going from 333 to 400), do I need a fan on my Thermalright HR-05 which sits on the Northbridge chip? I have an HR-05 IFX/SLI on the SB and an HR-05 IFX on the NB. I'd really like to do away with the fan, but do have one if it's needed. I'm on air cooling only, no water cooling at all. I have 120x38mm Panaflo NMB-MATs on the front and rear of the case (one each), and a 92x25mm on the Noctua U9B CPU.

    Thanks all.

Hi Aln688, I would try without first and if it idles below 40 then you should be fine - this allows 20 degrees under load with a mild overclock. My N/B maxed out at 65 degrees with 420FSB and stock cooling so use this for your upper limit.

Another failed drive!!! This one is my WD4000YR backup storage drive on this board with the same error when running Western Digital latest bootable test. What the hell is going on
So that's two drives you've had fail? If I were you I'd put your motherboard settings back to stock see if that makes a difference. Could it be your motherboard SATA controller (ICH9R?) is corrupting your drives somehow?
