I think it's mainly because the CPU score. Unfortunately the CPU score has a pretty high influence on the final score. Compare the SM2.0 and HDR/SM3.0 scores only.

well my sm2 and sm3 scores are over 300-400 points with the CPU at 2.9 GHz compared to the Phenom at 3.4 GHz. Regardless this chip is just crazy! its fast as f**k. From the looks of it, the PHenom II won't be giving it a run neither, i've seen some benchmarks with the i7 920 with hyperthreading disabled, meaning on 4 threads, and it still murders the Phenom II scores at a much lower clock. What AMD needs is the Phenom FX!!!! Now that will definitely be a different story.

For now I won't hit 4 GHz, but once I put it under water i'm sure I can. It's nature for these chips to hit 4 GHz
