Nope, he said that [they told him] am2+ Phenom IIs will work in am3 boards.We have known for a while that am3 CPUs will work in am2+ boards.The vice versa was questionable since general opinion was am2+ Phenom IIs have only ddr2 controller enabled as opposed to ddr2/ddr3 controller in am3 chips.
Not that complicated,but it looks that way. If what chew* heard was correct,than any Phenom II,even the first ones in January labeled as am2+ can work with both ddr2 and ddr3 ram.

got it. i understood better after i read your post. phenom II will be my first ever quad cores. i can't wait.
