thanks guys.... i kinda figured that was the case when i was reading through the posts in this thread. it does OC much better now considering i wasnt able to hit 460fsb with the voltages i am using now.

    great job ket!

CPU-Z shows that its just bios 1406. Should the modded bios read just like regular ASUS bios except for the tweaks that have been added? It seems like the update was successful as I can now hit 460FSB whereas before I was stuck at 450.
It depends also with memory and CPU.

I have an E8300 and with my Asus P5Q-Pro with original bios (803 i think) I'm using 500fsb. (Din't try the fsb wall with the cpu...)

I'll instal the mbios 1501 to see if i can put less vcore and to see if it stables the memories at 1.2ghz.

on P5Q I could never obtain a unique IRQ for my fancy audio card [ASIO driver works better/cleaner when is on a unique IRQ, not shared with, for example, video card, or network]
I have moved the card around all PCI slots, but the IRQ is always 'shared' [in fact, that's why I've preferred P5Q, because it has 3 PCI, and I've thought that at least one will have a unique irq]
[I think is useless to mention how frustrating is spending those money on expensive hardware and not being able to use it on its normal parameter]
    thank you
so, as far as I understood, is impossible to "create" something where asus didn't put anything, all you can do (Ken) is to modify (modd) the asus code
[I'm refering to IRQ management on PCI ]
from this point of view, for me this mobo it's a piece of crap

Heres what the 1611 mBIOSes have changed. Their based on the final code not beta, P5Q Pro owners get something very special to try, a 1613 mBIOS!

    - Added Pro memory table (larger than others should = more compatibility)
    - P6 microcode update, total number of supported CPUs up to 41. (39 in previous mBIOSes)
    - Boot logo changed to the ever-popular dragon

The usual "wasn't intending but seemingly got fixed" things

    - Pull-ins
    - Couple other things I can't remember off the top of my head

I have no idea why the memory table is larger in the P5Q\Pro BIOS code, I would guess at A: Asus have not yet updated the code for the Premium or Deluxe in the BIOS, or B: Asus have removed "junk" code from the Premium and Deluxe memory table, which one would think would lead to better OCs. I'll need as much feedback as possible for these, asus have complicated matters by using a memory table in their higher end boards which is smaller, doesnt make much sence. If people dont have much luck with these I'll switch the memory table for the Premium and people can give that a go. mBIOSes will be uploaded in a bit.

Now, seperate post for the 1613 mBIOS as its a new revision being worked on, keeps things tidy this way. There doesn't appear to be any significant changes for the P5Q Pro 1613, so I have left everything as-is and just replaced the CPU table, if Pro owners have better success with 1613 than 1611, BE SURE TO TELL ME! I will then make further changes. Remember, I need feedback on all of these mBIOSes in order to try and improve them! Its not good just saying xxxx BIOS sucks, xxxx BIOS is better. WHY is it better? Tell me what it does better another revision doesn't etc.

Thanks for the modding the new ones, will test them out tonight for you on my P5Q Pro. So far the m1501 works best for me, fsb caps out @ 540-545. Been playing with the vanilla and your versions, the m703 seems to work least for me (fsb caps @ 530), however I cannot give you scientific quality reasons as to why. If you want to let me know what specifically to test out with it, I'll do so

No scientific tests needed. The kinds of differences I'm taking about are things like FSB caps, memory max OC limits, stability, those kinds of differences

thanks for the BIOS Ket, with m1406 on a P5Q Deluxe, I was able to lower my voltages significantly and get more stability than the Asus 1406. I just updated to m1611. Same results so far, gonna try and set my RAM back to the rated 1000Mhz instead of running at 888Mhz like I am now.

BTW, have you taken a peek at any of Gigabytes BIOSes? I have an X48-DS4 here that has to have the crappiest (and unsupported) BIOS I've ever dealt with

I am going about the testing this time around a bit more accurately/recordingly. Results will have benchmark/setting data to support what I think. Currently trying the 1613m bios as I am impatient, runs stable at my standard settings, will verify head room once I finishing benching. The weird thing I've noticed is that the Chip is running hotter under linpack by almost 10C max (1.39V =76C max) over 703m, (1.39V = 66C max). It did pass linpack testing, but the temp bugs me. I haven't kept good vdroop records, so it may be to blame. Using load line calibration with 1613m, it idles at 1.368, loads at 1.384 when set to 1.39 I'll drop the voltage on the cpu a bit and leave it stability testing when I sleep tonight, see if I can figure out where it was before. Starting a spread sheet now to record track everything, running benches 3 times each to verify as well.

More Results: I was able to drop Vcore(-0.025), Vnb(-0.04) and Vfsb(-0.04) with the standard settings I use for 4.5Ghz and remain 10pass linpack stable. This is directly compared with the 703m bios I was running before, so I don't know when or if Asus fixed or improved this. Forgot to setup prime95 before I passed out so I don't have a long term test to go with this.

Playing with my OC more, it turns out that the 530-545 FSB cap I've been hitting is my RAM's fault >< (or atleast how I've configured the ram) dropping the multi to 6 the system is still crashing/not finding an OS install @ 540+. I Have a set of CellShock D9 being shipped in from Ireland, but its been over 2weeks since I ordered and they still have not arrived. I can't fault the Gskill Ram I have, It runs beautifully @ DDR2 1000 5-5-5-15 @2.0V (probably lower, but I don't know very much about tightening adv. timings)

Also, any suggestions for setting up this board for higher OC's would be appreciated, I'm still a nub with it, and my last ASUS Board was a P4C800-E with a P4C 2.4Ghz chip.

Damm... i even didn't get time to test the 1501 mbios.
Ill instal the P5Q Pro 1613m and test it.

Ken! Could you upload a .zip or .7p file? The proxy here just blocks all .rar files.
