Hi guys!
I have one question about this MoBo. I have 3 disks in raid 5 and 1 single disk (without raid) and all works. Few days ago I bought SATA dvd driver, my old PATA driver died. RAID controller see that SATA dvd driver is connected to SATA port 5 but my system (Windows XP SP3) don’t see this driver. What I have to do to make this sata dvd visible to system? Or maybe it is impossible to connect SATA optical driver when SATA controller is in RAID mode?
Thanks in advice for your help.
Hmm, probably a wrong thread to ask, but what scores you guys get from cinebench r10 and winrar 3.71 .. clocks at 3.0-3.3GHz ? Ive got 10k cinebench and 2300 winrar, just wondering are these correct..
Nothing interesting here.
Well I actually got vista to load last night with 3.52 last night "once". It took 1.63 volts to do it. However it did not last long. I opened up AOD to check temps and everything seemed ok, but then it suddenly blue screened on me. I tried to get back into windows, but that was a no go. So I upped it to 1.65 vcore and it still would not load. I tried a few different ACC settings but nothing seemed to make a difference. I did not have too much time so I will have to go back later and play with ACC a little more and see if I can get it, I am starting to think this chip just will not do 3.5 on all cores for benches, but at least I did not kill it![]()

Hmm what the heck, now this thing DOES boot when ACC set to 6%, I havent really changed nothing, only put some more clock to NB, memory, HTT and pci-e.![]()
Btw, what does the CPU VDDA voltage do? Where should it be when overclocking?
And this still reboots if too much clock, tried 1.5Vcore, open window(freezing -8C outside..) and I put the 8-pin homemade adapter to the motherboard.. no effect :/
edit, some more to ask for, PCI-E watt limit.. at default its 25W ? .. what the hell is this, I tried 100W and all tests ran fine, but games usually goes to blackscreen and the graphics card starts to malfunction weirdly .. Allthought the comp doesnt crash, just the screen goes black(powersaving..)

I read manual and found this:
But as I said earlier I have 3 hdd in raid 5 and to make they work "Onchip SATA Type" is set to RAID and I can't change this to AHCI or IDE.When this item (Onchip SATA Type) is set to [AHCI], only SATA connectors 1-4 can be detected. Ensure that you've installed the AHCI driver, so that you could use SATA connectors 1-6 in AHCI mode under OS.
Any other idea?
AHCI is used by default when you set the SATA to RAID...!!!
You'll no doubt have noticed that the driver you install when setting up RAID, is an AHCI driver..!!!!

Probably optical driver should be connected only to 1-4 ports, no to 5 or 6. The last two ports should be used only with hdds.
Thanks for your help!
Thats the Wrong PCI-E watt limit your adjusting.. The correct one will be preset @75watt...I believe its Lane #2 and #10..Just go throught each and only set the ones that ALLOW 16x. There will only be two lanes that run 16x.
NOTE:
In the same Menu pressF4 and 10 new PCI-E lanes will pop up on screen..
Two of those lanes Are X16lanes ...I set those to 200watts and AUTONONIMOUS.. I leave all other Lanes AUTO.
Also VDD is the BASE Volts for the Mobo.. The Higher You raise this the More Overall Volts you can achieve with VCORE and ACC.
I allways run @2.8v VDD.. 2.5v is default when on Auto.. Setting to 2.8v garentees that it wont Drop below 2.8v when overclocking..
.Also you Should Disable ACC and set 2.8v VDD for now and Manually Raise the Vcore For CPU/Nb slowly to see what makes its stable..This way you Know ACC isnt causing the Reboot...
Many things can Happen IF,,
If volts tooHIGH/LOW can reboot.
If CPU too HOT can reboot>
If the HT is too high it can reboot .
IF the NB is too High it can reboot.
If Ram timing is wrong can reboot.
If power supply is weak Can reboot..
thats just a few things to mention.
For a stock Phenom i would not use less than 500wattpsu that has a 8pin on it with at least 36amps on the Rail.
Try setting just the CPU Multi with Stock NB and NB 1.35volts ..On stock cooler you should be able to do 3.1/3.2ghz but will need to play with CPUvolts and Id use the 800ram or 1066ram divider if you have 1066..
P.S. BENBROWN
I use 1.68v CPU and 1.6v for NB while NB is @2000mhz for 3.52v.. These things like the Volts to somewhat be close together with the CPU bieng the same or Higher than NBvolts. For 3.5ghz with NB@2600+ i use NB@1.65v +2ACC . Now the sad part ,,just to run 20mhz higheri have to lower the NB to 2000mhz because this is my CPU's cieling no dout.

Very nice tips again! Thanks. Sorry for all these questions, have to learn .. things.. to clock..

But yes, the F4 would be the answer, I was trying to find those lanes which are in the manual too, but couldnt.. F4 solves this I think. So 200W for them and ACC off .. hmm Ill try. I have Arctic Cooling A64 Freezer pro doing the cooling now. Btw, new Enermax 525W Modu82+(3x25A rails) PSU coming this week too, maybe helps, maybe not, ready for CF then if not.
This Antec NeoHE380W has got some great performance in the past in some tests so I dont think its the fault now altought.. But never know!
It has 3x15A 12V rails .. not sooo bad, but if the phenom just draws some power what you can do. ..
But thanks very much.
Nothing interesting here.
Your Antec very well can be the problem..
380watts (9550 needs at least 400watts to work decent Overclocked minimum with Mobo and attached devices including a hungry Vidcard that uses PCI-E6pin..) Your Vidcard alone can eat 180watts ,,dosnt leave much for Devices and Mobo now does it![]()

Okay, done AGAIN () some testing aaand:
ACC doesnt make a difference to the rebooting issue, it does it always when I go to 3310MHz and make it to run superpi, approx 10secs and reboot. Always, i tried 1.6 vcore, all other MHz to default except cpu, no difference at all.
Also it seems that core 0 and core 3 are the weakest one, core 0 starts to restart after 3200MHz. My best superpi run was 22.8sec at 3300MHz core 1.
Tried about every voltage setting and some other tweaks, Id say its the PSU now, or WALL(which I dont believe). It was little weird at first because I got the cpu to run superpi for about 10-20 times stable without acc, then I enabled it and it restarted again, then I put it off again and it still restarted, so dont think its ACC issue after all.
Also I noticed that running ACC on gets your memory benchmark results down a much (eg. read 8500 -> 8200, copy 10000 -> 9500, latency 50ns -> 53ns, also everests CPU Zlib 82600 -> 78000KB/s .. weirdo isnt it?) This affects to real life applications too by a bit. AOD benchmark gives better results too without ACC, and some variations are gone (examp:first run 9300, second run 8900, third 9200 etc, now its stable 9300 every run)
Better wait for the psu and try again, althought this isnt slow at 3.1GHz
BTw, this Antec could run FX-60 overclocked a much, 2x 1900XTX in crossfire overclocked, and still got juice, was getting about 500W off the wall tested by The Stilt if you know him.Dont know can that comp be compared to Phenom and one HD4850..

Hmmm my 6000+ @3.5ghz runs fine with a 500watt Antec and TA770. But once i installed the Phenom9950 (140watt) @3.2ghz and 8800GTS(G92)512mb..It would shut the system down..
I replaced it with a 650watt ThermatLake Modular which enable dme to Get 3.5ghz on SB600 and now this same PSU which runs My SIG.
Hey Man, even though you scare me sometimes with your voltage recommendations... I have been paying attention to your suggestions seeing as how you get such killer clocks!
I'm on air, but temps never really seem to be too much of a problem, I did hit 60c on a 10 pass Linpack run, but I don't think that's extreme considering the load I was putting on it...
You may have seen this SS before, but this is my best stable clock using XP64. Even though it did pass 1hr Prime95 and a 10 pass Linpack run I still had to up the V's a little (Vcore 1.425, NBcore 1.325), due to a VERY RARE crash (once to be exact)...
Anyway, I tried for more tonight... I upped the Vcore to 1.475v and the NBcore to 1.375v (I also set VDDC to 2.8v) in Bios. My machine would try to post (not a hard crash) but kept giving me the F1 reset Bios error.
I have a decent PSU (see sig), but I'm really starting to wonder if it might not be enough to push those volts... Either that, or my chip is just a wimp.
What do ya thing?
TIA..... Dave

What was your HT speed? As gotVoltage mentioned a few times for higher NB speeds high HT speeds are a must. I can select above 2GHz here on the AsRock in the bios but at max 2GHz(10xmultis) are used.
BTW: LaingUltra leaked, shortened , burned a hole in my table and stopped working.Waiting for an D5 vario now.
Dang ,,bummer
ALSO you can mod the D5 real easy for better flow
The D5's and or 655's are great little pumps...What works for great flow is drill the Inlet to !/2" ,, this will let the pump draw more volume from Resivior while keeping the same Head Preshure but with hihger flow. Its an easy 5min mod with a 1/2"drill bit.
On to the good stuff,,
As for Phenom Volts ,, i cant believe How much these things can take even with a stock heatsink.. The trick is to allow good volts but keep the temps in check.. Heat is the Number one ccause of Phenom failure along with the old IMC the B2's used. The B3's Handle Ram volts plus high NBvolts way better than the Old B2's.
For using 3.2-3.3ghz with 2400nb ..Even on Air (nonstock cooler) ive found that 1.48v -1.5volts works graet on the CPU/And NB with or with out ACC.
When you raise the Volts up you can use ACC in Munus mode -2 -4 aand so on to lower the overall volts Idle and Load although using higher manual settings for NB and Vcore..
It takes a lot of tweaking and all my Overclocks are done with high volts up to 3.3/3.4ghz and High NB just to see what it can do and watching my Temps . if its under the Max temp limit i lower the Volts a hair NB then go for Higher Clock values.. Ilways run the HT @ 2000 or Higher depending on My NB speed.
At high CPU clocks the NB @2000 -2200mhz can perform. Highe rCPu clocks along with low NBmhz do better than Low CPUclocks with HIGH NBmhz. Least thats what ive been seeing.
In the end its all realted to Heat ..Start stock with like 1.5volts for both CPU and NB and slowly raise the CPU to its highest level using just the Cpu Divider(multiX) with Stock NB..
yOu should be able to reach 3.2ghz with a decent air cooler and even the stock one on B3 9850/9950. Default VID is 1.55 for both CPU and NB .
Even My TA770 was default with 1.55volts for both thats how i discovered this way of overclocking. You can use ACC to Lower Volts when using High manual CPU and NBvolts aswell.
Theres just so much more of a challenge with Phenom overclocking when i compare to friends Core2Q's..
In the End they all ask why my Pc seems faster than thiers when they are @3.6 and im @3.5ghz..It seems kinda amazing to me how smooth the AMD platform really is @ any speed conpared to all my Friends Intels.
Help me understand again the reason why you need or should keep your HT @2000?
I am at and cannot remember what auto cranks it up to, but I am stable at 3.3 and can get 3.5 with this approach.
Thanks for the insight in advance.

HT On auto can be unstable in most cases and or it Can atomatically lower the HT for you if it works correct
Ive seen the Later(unstability when using AUTO HT on Most Mobo's when you pass a Certain point of OC.
Even @ stock i set the ht To 2000 even if my NB is @2600.
Although i have tested it to 2700mhz @ 3.5ghz
Each chip runs different and HT will vary but i use the same Method to set and or use the HT when overclocking on every Mobo ive tested.
Example ,,
why i set HT to 2000 regarless of NB speed ,,
Say if you set NB @2400 manually ,,the HT setting will show 2.4 = 2400 mhz automatically.Auto usually dosnt set it to 2000 all the time for HT at least.
@ HTT/fsb 200x13 9950stock ,,
the HT is 2.0 and NB is 2000mhz .Now if i raise the NB to 2400 the HT will automatically run 2400..If the Mobo or chip dosnt like it you will crash .
So @ 200x13 i will set NB @2400 and set the HT @2.0 = 2000mhz
The HT link that shows up when you change NB speed is the HT from CPU to NB . CPU to NB HT should be 2000mhz for stability.
Now if yo raise the FSB/HTT to 220x13 = 2800cpu ,,the HT usually will raise to 2200 if on auto or stock along with the NB.. In most cases the NB will be stable and HT at low CPU clocks(below 3.0ghz)..
Once the CPU goes above 3.0-3.2 this can or may become unstable and thus why i recomend to set the HT lower when you raise the FSB/htt ,Unless you have test the HT to go up to 2700mhz using low xCPU divider and raising FSB/HTT . The first thing i do is see what the Mobo can do on the FSB/HTT and how high HT can go before ever Raising my CPU overclock or NB @ stock volts.
Stock HT = 2000
210 HT = 2100
220 HT = 2200
230 HT = 2300
240 HT = 2400
and so on,,
Max ive ran HT is 270+ = 2700mhz HT.. 292 x 13.5 @ 2500ht. Its not easy by all means.
The NB acts the same exact way on My CPU..
If you are not giving the NB enuff volts you wont be able to run High NB and the system will not let you run High HT if NB is not stable.
Both go hand in hand , except that the NB can be higher than HT ..Thus i wont use auto HT becuse mostlikely it will not work as intended and crach the Pc.
So in this case i always set the HT to run @2000mhz regardless of my FSB/HTT and NB speed. The Higher the FSB/HTT the lower you must set the HT and NB depending on how fast your NB can run.
Example,,
210 x13 = 2700cpu and 2100HT/NB
usually HT can run 100mhz above stock when raising FSB/HTT
220 x13 = 2800cpu and 2200HT/NB
Sometimes you need to lower this HT back to 2000 which means using 1.8ht instead of 2.0HT.
So in Bios your setting will be
NB 2000 @220 x13 = 2200nb
HT 2000 @220 x13 = 2.0 = 2200HT( USE 1.8 instead of 2.0 to get 2000ht)
@240 x13 you will use 1.6 to get HT2000
You can run the NB well above the HT provided you give the NB the volts to do that.
Although ive seen many systems incuding mine run HT 2600 @ 3.5ghz it all depends on CPU and how high its clocked.
You need to play with HT.
Some systems like High HT and some dont. I usually see how much HT and NB i can run @ below 3.0ghz..I max them both out.. I then see if i can raise the CPU xmulti more If im using FSB/HTT(stock or even raised above stock). if it crashe with Higher CPUxMulti Lower the NB and or HT till it works..
Then i repeat the steps and eventually mu CPU is running higher clocks
Sorry for Long post,,

Hmm, have you reached an point where too low HT speed was the cause of system instability?
The Asus board seems to allow an 10x max HT multi like the asrock or can you use higher multis if you use higher NB multis?
Could you run mem at 800 mode with an 270MHz ref HT and 10x NB multi or had you used 667 mode?
Thanks for the modding tipps saw you did a similar mod to the d-tec. I hope the D5 is more shortage prove and I like the fact that it's variable in speed. Was just a small leakage on the reservoir on top of the ultra, but the pumps bottom is not waterprove so electronic blew up.
^^^^JustaPost^^^^
Hmmm ill have to remember (looking for Screens).. I think i have one where i used like the stock 10xHT/NB multi to get 2600+HT with 800ram or 1066 @13xmulti i think.
Also if i run less than 1800HT System dosnt like it at all . My NB wont even run Below 1800mhz.. Since NB is designed for 1800minimun on Phenom.
I pretty much can use 400/533/667/800 for High HT..Depend which ram im using . Also i up the HT volts to 1.3v-1.32v for Super duper High HT
Ill see what i can find .. Havnt tried High HT since i Ran 292 with this Bios..I kinda just did some Quik tests with out saving Bunch of screenies..
Above 3.5ghz my system like the HT to be low due to My CPU and High Ram Freqency. I do Know Usually you can sqeeze more HT while running below 1100mhz ram and 3.5ghz .
Note:
while using 260FSB/HTT 260 x 13.5 = 2600mhz HT on this Mobo . I also used 800 Ram divider with 1066 ram. HT will be set to 10xDefault My NB can also do this @default 10x
The Higher the HTT is raised Past 260 on this Mobo with 602Bios the harder it is to keep High HT.@ 270-280 i would have to Lower HT to around 2400 or less. @ 292 i have to use 2000HT to keep Mobo Stable with 1.32v on the HT. Waiting for New Bios to get that Majic 300!HTT
Ive found that after 292 All my Dividers and CPUxmutis result in raising the CORE to above 3.6ghz .. Even if i use a low CPUxmulti it will say its @ 3600 if i try to set 293x12 = 3516,, the Mobo will report as 3600mhz. Same goes for if i Try 11x 10x 9x 8x it will not boot and say that My CPU is 3600mhz or Higher/ ive even seen 4800mhz in Bios!
This is Clearly a ASUS BIOS Problem with the Dividers for Ram and or CPU when going above 293htt.
