    ok

Cause i was told on the gigabyte forum at tweaktown to always run it on standard, i have run it on extreme, and it caused my everest scores to go up 300 points, but the guy on the forum told me all that does is reset all your manual settings, and not to run it on that, so im like what is it for then

Use memset, set auto, and manually set all your timings, tweaks & PL. Check what memest says. Take a SS.

Then set turbo, leaving all the other settings as is, and re-check with memset. Are the values the same or have they changed? Take a SS.

Then set extreme, leaving all other values as is, and re0check with memset. Are the values the same or have they changed? Take a SS.

    Post the SS's here.

That guy at tweaktown seems to know how to help out noobs, but not much more.

I think those screens categorically show why Vista sucks at file copying

So far it's looking like 1300 is too much for my CSX GKX kit, but 1250 is doable on the Rampage'd Maximus Formula.

cryptik, heres those tests using turbo and extreme. had to run them without any overclock. couldnt seem to use extreme while i was overclocked. looks like it doesnt change any timings in auto or manual modes. but in auto mode it did change the phase delay setting marked in red. with timings set manually nothing really changed except where i marked in blue, but i think thats just a glitch cause im only using two modules.the everest bandwidth scores changed though.1 auto turbo.2 auto extreme.3 manual turbo.4 extreme.

sure. one thing you definitely need to do is set the mch ref voltage manually. i couldnt get any OC to work until i followed zodden suggestion and set it manually. ex-set your vtt to 1.28. now set your mch ref voltage at 0.750 in the bios.at this point when you change the value of the vtt you can see the mch ref change along with it.ex-vtt1.26 =mch-0.73?. once i did this everything became stable.hope this helps

My new CSX Diablo 1150 D9GKX kit on my Maximus Formula, Rampage BIOS. PL was at 5. VDIMM was 2.40 BIOS (= 2.45 real). I think this is about the practical limit of these sticks.

Not anymore, my instalation of x64 XP died yesterday and Ive decided to dump them and have Vista only.. Ive tested that when I had dual-boot Vista and XP. Difference was about 1ns max at latency and few hundreds of mb read/write/copy.. maybe Ill try to reproduce that some day, but now my HDD is full of data.. cant fit another system. Sorry..

It would be very interesting to have comparsion of Vista vs XP on i7.. if its possible to instal XP on i7 platform (I know its DDR3.. but still there are Micron D9 GTS/GTR plus.. even if we dont like it.. era of DDR2 is over. AM3 will use DDR3 too..

I have nothing against DDR3, but with DDR2 prices so low and set only to fall even more, its good times for DDR2 IMO with 1066MHz 2x2GB kits selling for about £50. DDR3 will only make sence once its matured a little more and prices come down.

Nope. Supply and demand. That's why DDR prices are higher than DDR2....lower supply. DDR2 is so plentiful right now, so prices are down. Got Cas3 Dominators for $25 on Black Friday.
