Nah LinX and IBT stress a CPU way more than any program or game will ever do... resulting in about 8-10°C higher load coretemp then prime small FFT... so he's pretty safe in temps...

Good to hear, when testing with Prime95 it doesn't go above 54c on the hottest core... I have also switched to Real Temp, which I think is more accurate and the Hottest core on LinX now does not go above 68c... I've upped the FSB to 1.24v as well, I've read a lot about this board overvolting if you select the Auto or even the next step up in voltage...

Quick question. Im running my e8400 at 440x9 (Its not the best clocker in the world it took some juice to even get it there) and my ram at 1100mhz 5-5-5-15-pl8 @2.1v bios. My cpu is at a little over 1.4v corev, 1.36vtt, 1.56pll, and my gtls at .645. My northbridge is currently at 1.26 and Im running a 2x2gb kit now. I just ordered another 2x2gb kit of the same stuff and I was wondering how much if at all that I would need to bump up the NBv.
My other question is, How high do you guys feel comfortable running the voltage on your ram? I know this board overvolts the ram by ~0.8v.
Thanks in advance.
Can anybody post your settings with Q9550 @471х8.5
I always get blue screens, while gaming.
My Vcore 1,32V, FSB 1,30, PLL 1,52, CPU GTL-avto

this board just went on sale for 170$ shipped. at that price its kinda getting my interest as its close to my original decision (dfi dk p45 plus) so whats the overall consesus about the mobo?
You prolly need a bit more NB voltage to stabilize again, could also be to put 9 PL level... one thing is for sure : your rams will appreciate active cooling and are you sure you can fit 4 reapers in there ? Secondly you need 1.36 VTT ? didn't you mean 1.26 or such ?
Plz fill in the template :
P5Q Dlx Template
Also list all of ya hardware, but I would bump up Vcore to 1.35 and PLL to 1.56 for starters to see if it goes away then
Overal concensus is great here, after some issues with the Q9series latest bios releases have solved most problems ( there will always be incompatabilities, no board is bugproof )
Most users get +500FSB on duallies and +450 with quads... for day to day basis a solid performer, for benching some other boards might be better ( GB P45 UD3P eg) But I prefer Asus for build quality and 3 year warranty...
If possible ask ya vendor to get one with a rev A3 NB...

You're going to need 1.35 - 1.40v for 4GHz stable I think. Maybe increasing vFSB to 1.30v would help too. You could also adjust your GTL Refs to gain a little stability, try setting both GTL Refs to 0.67x and set vcore to 1.38v and retest it.

hello guys...
a chipset waterblock for this motherboard ????
swiftech mcw30 or...???
thanks..........
alright, i bought the board, should be in this week. for e8400 users, what bios are you guys using?
1406 is very good jdmR...
Also for the watercooling, I still run stock cooling heatpipe solution on my 2 boards with 500FSB Duallie and 450FSB quad no worries ( I have an Antec spotcool blowing on the rams and the NB ) So I see no real point to go watercooling and buying other parts for the mosfets, etc for maybe no real big gain... I would try first the stock solution and then you can still WC it later on if you need more

hi guys , this is my first post in this priceless thread
this is my setup:
ANTEC 1200 case
MB ASUS P5Q Deluxe
Core 2 Quad Q9550
Radeon HD4870x2
Corsair Dominator 1066, 8 GB (4x2)
PC Power & Cooling 750W
OCZ Vendetta 2
i havent been stable in blend mode (prime95) since i bought this rig almost 3 months ago
there would always be rounding errors only 2 mins into testing
two days ago i changed these two options from auto to disabled and the last option from auto to lighter and finally managed to get blend stable

ok those 3 options i changed in the last post actually made me fail post today, i tried to turn on my machine and no video signal on the tv, i tried reseating everything and when i finally took out one 2 gig dominator stick the post went thru and it said "overclocking failed"
i immediately knew it was those last changes i made that were the culprit
im just trying to be stable at 3.4 and im not sure if ive setup everything right, thats why i need ur input guys so any feedback would be appreciated![]()
dominator
not to overclock
@ x3mgamer - try this if you want to try and get 3.6 stable, it should be easy with your cpu.

CryptiK,
i did exactly as u said and now the idle temps reported by everest r mobo 31, cpu 32, cores 51 49 46 46
but when i start prime core temps rocket to above 80s
either my vendetta 2 aint seated well enough with those pushpins or the silmore grease i used aint better than cooking oil, either way next week ill probably get thermalright bolt-thru kit and some silver grease and then we'll try this again
where exactly did u get those values from? they seem very professional and based on long term trial & error
Yes sounds like not so great contact on cpu, you shouldnt be at 80*C+ with only 1.30 vcore.
I have a fair bit of overclocking experience with these P45's, and from your gear that looked like a good general template to start with. Once you get your temps under control I can help you further tweak it for your hardware after some stress testing has been done.

I've upgraded my CPU to a Q9450. Would it still be worthwhile? I'm having trouble with my P5W and Q9450 (BSOD while installing Vista) so I'm thinking of alternative combo's.

yes the P5Q Dlx is a far more stable platform for quads then the old aging 975... I would say a definite YES
