I pay taxes too. Though to make you and sparky feel better....I have a decent GPA. So the taxes aren't going down the toilet. Currently it's 3.2 and should be higher by the end of this semester. Besides if I do take out a loan I will have to pay that back. Though the Pell funds are completly free and I usually have 6-700 bucks left over after tuition fees are paid. I can use 2-3 hundered on a Deneb 940 and still have money for books. ......NTM, I can get a loan at any given time through the year if I need it. Remember the childeren are our future.

I will make sure I thank all the tax payers once I recieve my Bachelors in Computer Science.

BTW, I need a Quad core to do my programming. Do you really expect me to compile my programs with something slow? Thankfully ASU is not that expensive and I am able to recieve revenues from Pell. Maybe Barrack Obama will increase federal aid.......Then I could get a new GPU to replace my 4850.

Stop being stingy and spread the wealth! For all you know I may help make Fallout 8 and do it right by listening to what gamers really want.

I think we can forget the "blog" results since they look fishy as hell.
We need more sources like Linus or similar and forget the ones like that blogspot since there will be more and more like that while we approach the January release date.

blogspot has been debunked in the news thread. someone found those same pictures of the desktop from 2007 (intel rig)
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

Isn't he posting similar results though?(not the 6Ghz part...but the 4Ghz part) He has been VERY hush hush but hasn't given any indication that differs from other sources from the net.

As far as pell is concerned, I care not how you spend the money so long as school related expenses come first. It sounds like they do, so you're square in my book. Back when I was in college, I never received my pell money until AFTER a semester. As such, it wasn't incredibly useful since I'd already had to pay for all of the semester as it came. It also wasn't helpful when KSU decided it never got any money and the government was sure it had sent it. Neither side really gave a and just dropped a $3500 bill on me. Yes, they got paid twice, and that was the last semester I decided to spend at that particular university.

Yeah, business before pleasure. That's the only way to get ahead. My wife went to a school that did the same as KSU which I think sucks. ASU gives a Higher One MasterCard Debit Card to dispurse all funds. So all your funds are available to you ASAPhttps://augustastateonecard.higheroneaccount.com/. I usually get my funds 14 days after the semester starts. Though I can always use my ASU ID at the ASU bookstore, Starbucks, and all other on campus stores and charge whatever I buy to my finacial aid during the 14 day waiting period. I can even buy my parking decal and a meal plan with finacial aid. So it all works out great.

Sorry you got stuck with a bill, but hey.....Education is an investment. Beats working manual labor for peanuts. I love ASU...http://www.aug.edu/!!!!

    On Topic.....

Anyhoot, is there any talk of dual socket AM2+ or AM3+ boards coming out like they had with Socket F? Imagine two 4Ghz+ Denebs inside your system.

The Shanghais will make a nice 2P system once the 800S chipset comes out. All of the current ones on the market are pretty dated. If you're into nVidia graphics or single card solutions, however, you do have a few options to go dual 45nm like this one:

Stay away from that board. Asus technical support for this board is disgusting. The current BIOS can't even overclock Barcelonas. No working voltage adjustments in the BIOS and it doesn't look like Asus is going to get off their asses anytime soon to fix it. You're better off with a MSI K9ND Speedster 2.

I'm about as much of a fan of MSI as I am am of Intel. I haven't own an Intel chip other that modem's since the 286. That sort of tell's you something. I'd rather own AMD, and the former Cyrix than Intel. I'm still running a AMD chip. Haven't touched a Phenom yet. I felt I should wait on them.

I would like something like Intel did with their Skulltrail for AMD, as I see AMD as a better chip, with a better IMC. They after all can stay nearly neck and neck with triple channel using only dual channel. If AMD could pull one off with a newer Deneb core, workstation user's everywhere would certainly be happy with an affordable solution.

Not going to interrupt much, but I think it's damn hilarious how you can ask this to soundood but when one of, as DrWho? nicely said, 'the blue team' starts making such comments you're dead silent, and when a member of 'the green team' reacts to said 'post' you actually support him

Although Ive to admit it ain't the most smart post from soundood to make, but obviously you feel offended in anyway

i know, i know, but hey it was pointed at no one, it was truly in the art of a bit of fun, and meant to offend no one.

the thing is here, is that i have had this a few times, unofficial mods giving me the 'whats what' line.

just post in relation the the OP, the Mods here are great, hey i have had my 'wings clipped' a few times. let them keep me in the rules
after all thats what they do ehh?

so thats that, get back on topic and lets not get away from the fact that this just could end up being in the 'lager book of records'

unlike the Guniness book of Records, this one is only spoken about in the pub after 5 lagers

Quit being so optimistic. MY sources tell me to brace for 45nm from AMD in 2204. My sources also tell me that Intel will be delivering 22nm 16-core UHKMG on mega-SOI CPUs that clock to 97GHz (on AIR ) in Q1 2009.

    ...

Vague ramblings by random people doesn't qualify as a "source" imo.

By the looks of it,Phenom II will be a new RV770,only in CPU world. It didn't quite beat the GT200 head to head(came close, trailed 15%,or beat it in some number of games),but it made a terrific success and represented a big-bang comeback for AMD in GPU world. Now they are about to the same in desktop segment with a 45nm CPU.Low power, low heat, high IPC,high OC headroom, relatively low price. Now,they only need to launch the thing .

Well.. if you can't wait that long, you can always try out AMD's Opteron Model 1356, its only 2.3GHz and its socket AM2+.. plus its in stock when I checked! Most probably the model used for the benchmarkls in those Chinese forums. Good luck!
