It's easy to go AMD. Buying a Intel setup was hard and left a bad taste.

Q1 can't come fast enough. AMD has a hot product line up on their hands it seems.

I have a grouper left. If you want it it's your's pay the shipping. Rather see it get put to good use than profit and have it collect dust.

I'm going to hold onto manta, my buddies using it right now and my previous WR x2 3800 chip.

Amd needs to step up the pace, I just had to do another build for a customer the other day with a C2D.....Like to see some dual core Ocing If those will Be in the AM3 lineup also.......If the quad indeed did 6g whats a DC do.........

The 45nm DC- I have good expectations of it.

I don't think it will be unlocked (X3 will be), which is a shame. However if HTT goes up VERY nicely, 400*15 (there's 3Ghz stock) = 6000.

I liked those results on those links....I just ordered the Asus M3A79T and a 9950 125w to play with till Deneb, I will stick Deneb on the Asus, and the 9950 125w will go on my Gigabyte MA790GP-DS4H..

Well, tbh, I started to doubt a little bit.

Mainly because of the annoying time it seems to cost to get all the parts in stock for the shops. At the week before 17-11 where my motherboard blew up, I was pissed and decided to get something new. Motherboards, RAM and CPU's were all at 2-3 days or 1-5 days of availability (depending on shop).

However, at release day things changed to 14 days instead, RAM was set to be available at 20-11, at 21-11 I got a mail it will be 28-11. Motherboard is still at 14 days, but they only have available, 2-3 days and 14 days as ETA's so it might be 5 days as well

So since we're getting this close to Deneb... Im seriously starting to be pissed about this, cancel the whole thing and wait just one more month.

And my IMC is broken I guess, it cant run 4 DIMMs at a time anymore after the MOSFETs blew up on my old motherboard. I tried BIOS reset etc, but noway, it wont run stable anymore with 4 DIMMs.

Reason I went 'the darkside' is because I wanted a good quality motherboard now, but it's no secret there ain't a lot of those for AMD, although my blown board might as well be a lemon. So Ill see how it all goes, but more and more Im starting to think to cancel it all though Saves me a lot of money though

Haha, indeed, it sort of leaves a bad taste.

But although my bad luck this year has been nothing compared to a few others, I still dont like the things happened. And at some point you just want a good solid machine without parts crapping out. This ain't AMD's fault though, but the impopulairity shows though. For example, take the amount of DFI UT boards for Intel compared to AMD, or Asus ROG line compared to AMD.

I ordered the i7 stuff and Ill get a Deneb when RD890 releases as well I think, hoping the motherboards are a tad better. But as said, if this i7 stuff takes much longer Ill cancel it all, maybe get a nice watercooling setup instead. But Im lazy for maintenance so whether that's a good idea

[EDIT]Oh man, it's getting very tempting to cancel it all now though, I found a very rare memory kit, one of the best, which got taken out of production. Dont know where that kit came from though

Oh lol, I woke up and thought good now.

    I canceled my i7 stuff. Ill say why;

In the week before i7 release when my PC blew I was pissed. We know that, I started to look for a good quality 775 system, where as I noticed i7 was 'only' 200Euro more expensive or so but more future proof.

But now, parts still ain't in stock where as I dont know when the motherboard would be available, it still says 2 weeks. But, 5~6 before Phenom II release it would be stupid to throw away all the experience Ive with AM2+/Phenom, waste 1100 Euro on i7 while I only have to buy Phenom II when it's released for a super system. Now say if this motherboard indeed takes another 2 weeks, it would be even more stupid to waste 1100 Euro while Phenom II only takes 3~4 more weeks

Besides that, Ive more money again, allowing me to buy my third kit of Transcend Axe RAM DDR1066+, not having to plunder my bank account even more for drivers license etc... It's only doing me well.

I still think Core i7 is very nice, but it's starting to make less and less sence actually.

lol, we have plentiful stock here, rather cheap. Want a flight to Malaysia?

I saw ONE benchmark that made me REALLY want i7 (you have to see to believe, and I really use that app instead of just wanting to blank show off) but I'm piss poor right now (until when I start University classes lol). Blackberry Storm, Sigma SD14/15 and lenses, only then a Quad core.

So i7 will have to wait for some time. I don't think I'd be able to afford the Phenom 940 either- 920 or 720 Black for me.

    Nice post

But yes. I wanted a quality motherboard and we all know Intel has better quality boards than AMD right now due to market. In this pissyness I ordered complete i7 platform, especially after seeing some reviews which were nice.

The price however was epic, but well, sometimes you got to do weird. But more and more Phenom II news came out while all the products I ordered were not in stock. Slowly products came in stock, but right now the motherboard and the RAM wasnt there with no clear view when it would be.

I ordered this all to quickly get over my previous loss and be happy again. But Ive already waited one week, with at least another week for the motherboard if not more. Then Im starting to wonder whether it's smart to waste 1100Euro for this while Ive a complete platform ready here to drop in a Phenom II. Due to market it's no hard thing to think about that the AM2+ parts drop quite rapidly in value since nobody is interested and/or the prices of a new one are just a bit higher, there's not a lot of play ground regarding 2nd hand pricing meaning I'd have almost two complete AM2+ platforms here either selling way too low or just sitting here.

And since it's not so long before Phenom II, just a few weeks basicly, while the order I had takes week after week... That small time ain't worth the 1100 anymore IMO.

Ive to agree Core i7 is very nice, triple channel etc as well. But on the otherhand, I pay for that while triple channel really ain't even needed by a long time. I just got two confirmation mails from the canceled orders, when I get the money back Ill get another RAM kit and wait for Phenom II

The CPU its self was in stock. Intel did a good thing with shipping and such. But this time motherboards and RAM were not in stock

From what I've read on the AM2+ chip's being released earlier next year they will have both a DDR2 and a DDR3 IMC on board. So they will be AM2+/AM3 cross compatible.

Impressive numbers from the Deneb cores no matter what though. Not even Intel was probably expecting to see that much of an improvement using DDR2 technology.

I hace read somewhere online few weeks ago that AMD does recommend mobo makers not to add support for the 45nm cpu's. On the server side it also looks like shanghai will only run on at least dual power plane systems. For reference check tyan's mobo features here. None of the single power plane boards supports 45nm's.

@TICTAC: Nice to see you again.
Got any link's saying as such about Shanghai? Been looking at putting together a dual Shanghai workstation and overclocking the piss out it using chilled immersion cooling if it was possible.

Strange. As I've already told once my opinion is that the DK 790FXB-M2RS unfortunately doesn't deserve the LanParty name. Just compare the board to the LP UT 790FX-M2R. The 5 phase analogue PWM and the poor cooling... it's a joke. I recommend you the buy an ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe or if you don't have problem with the nVidia chipsets take a look at the Crosshair II or M3N-HT Deluxe boards. Both of them are great mobos!

It's the impression I get taking amd's recommendation into account and looking at tyan's 45nm support vs. dual power plane boards. I had planned to upgrade the 2210's in an 3992 (single power plane), but I'm not in a hurry atm. Can be they focused on dual power plane systems first. Can be the 45nm shanghai's will work in the single power plane board without an bios upgrade, but I have not seen results or testings on such an board.

Update: Had to skim over a hundred pages but found the news I refered to: http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-65...ease-date.html
Let us recall that 45 nm processors socket AM2+ will be compatible only with the motherboard , which support two-way power - in some old motherboards such processor cannot work.

Guess I missed that post then, but indeed. How more I think about it the more retarded it gets that such a board which promises a lot of improvements for Phenoms, from such a brand, get such poor MOSFETs

Maybe Im indeed thinking of getting an Asus M3A79-T but Im looking at options for the 790FXB-M2RS. Would more/better cooling on the MOSFETs help in anyway? Im considering not to use Prime95 for every 1Mhz OC anymore now, only when Im at the edge and think I want that certain OC, then Ill use Prime95.

Crosshair II is nice but it lacks ACC unfortunately. Otherwise I would have got it for months already

The Asus M3A79-T has 8+2 phase PWM (like the Crosshair II and the M3N-HT) with a nice heatsink.

I have M3A79-T but the ACC doesn't have any positive effect at all. It has never helped me at OC. So, I would not choose the M3A79-T just beacuse it has ACC option.

@ ram, probably a good idea, Ci7 doesn't offer huge gains over a c2q IMO, If gaming is your thing for that matter a c2q doesn't offer much, had i known when I upgraded what i know now i would have bought a dual......It's taken how long just for companies to write software to utilize duals, duals have been out quite some time now.....it will take just as long for them to code for quads much less ci7

Me personally I'm really interested in the DC part from AMD, would be real nice to fire up my phase change again and grab a new DI/LN2, I haven't gone negative temps since my LDBHE x2 3800.

Really hated buying Intel this time around but in terms of performance and I had a good phenom setup to campare with, it was the only logical choice at the time.

As i get older I have taken a step back from having the latest and greatest. I just recently replaced my x1900xt and when i did buy a new cpu it was a step from a x2 3800 stable at 3.2g with volts cranked on water to a c2q stable at 3.2 stock volts on air. Since taking this approach upgrading has been more fruitfull etc there is a very noticeable difference.

The enthusiast in me will likely buy an amd rig again however, the intel platform was to easy to OC, and the bios feels naked to me compared to my reference manta. Me personally I will wait for tony's final word on which MB to use, He knows exactly what I want out of a board/bios.

I would hope amd has made leaps and bound since this in the HTT department this was with 5x multi back in the day and was unheard of

    Agreed.

I have a feeling that DFI are saving the full blown LP UT for AM3 & i would be really disappointed if they don't have one ready for it.

DFi has never been consistent. I just hope that mobo manufacturers get in gear and actually produce good mobo's this time around for amd or amd take the same approach that they did with manta if you want it done right do it yourself.

I hope you're right. I did like my LP UT 790FX-M2R. I think that first they have to improve the BIOS developer team.

Well, I certainly hope DFI has a UT board ready but also available when they announce it. Cause announcing it and having it for sale are for DFI two completely different terms

Maybe Asus will come with a nice ROG board. But actually I'd rather stick with Deneb and AM2+ for a while than AM3 but well

I'm getting teh upgrade bug already AM3 and Deneb can't come soon enough! Actually though, it taking a couple more months is a good thing, so I can get past the holidays and have enough money saved again to actually buy it
