originaly it did say 6ghz @ 1.9v for some reason the went back and changed it to 5.X+ @ 1.9v not sure why it was edited then updated. they did 5ghz @ 1.6v on dry ice then the 6ghz on LN2.

so deneb is looking better every day. so 3.8-4ghz on air should be easy and 4+ghz on water.

This is true.. at first a few of the journalists leaked the 6+ GHz results. Then I believe AMD told them to tone it down a bit as it's all still under NDA hence why they re-worded it to be a bit more vague. I won't believe it until I see a respected bencher doing this but I was told ~6200MHz with a full pot of nitrogen.. meaning zero cold bug. Take it all with a grain of salt as there is no video or screen grabs of this so right now it's all word of mouth. This could get to be very interesting if AMD can get a Deneb clocking at 6GHz, might hold up a fight to Core 2 and even Core i7

LOL 1.9V? i guess its cool to know that the phenom can get that high. pretty impressive yet its not useful. also lets you know the overclocking potential of the phenom II.

i think there alot of stories now cause i heard they can goto alomost 4Ghz with stock cooling and higher with water and other way

Who cares about getting above 5ghz with that kind of cooling, think about how high you can take the nb. I'm thinking were going to be having numbers for that upwards of 3.5ghz on cold if we can clock the cpu that high. Imagine what that does to everything else...

I am trying not to get to excited..but...Man it is hard.. I do like the fact that they were doing the testing on my Motherbaord and using my ram..The 4870 x2 I don't have.. but the Phenom II x4 I will...lol

This is awesome. I'll be definitally getting a deneb in the future for a htpc / 2nd gaming pc. 4.0+ on air, and we are talking about 6ghz at ln2, WOW! I'm hoping that deneb will put AMD back in the position it was when they released the slot A athlon chip. If this is a repeat of those days, this'll be very exciting.

Supposedly, the Deneb core is supposed to be able to hit at least 4.2Ghz on air before the temps become too high. But keep in mind that your ambient temp matters alot. Now the FX-82, on the other hand, will be a Socket AM3/AM2+ and will be stock 4.4Ghz on air. I just wonder where it will top out.

Great to see that some of the "evidence" that was uncovered about Deneb appears validated - things like low leakage, high overclocking on air, low temps, stability etc..

Although I'm sure I'll never run really exotic cooling like LN2,Phase or Refridge.. The fact that they seem to have eliminated the coldbug could only help with more conventional cooling, HQ Air or Water.

I really hope all this comes to fruition, mainly because it might make the Mobo manufactures take notice! I look at alot of these Intel Mobos and drewl... Where are the killer AMD boards? You know, Heavy duty/Digital PWM's, serious silent chipset cooling solutions etc...

The Asus M3A79-T isn't a bad board but it doesn't compare to alot of the Intel options.... Hell, my favorite Mobo manufacturer (MSI) hasn't even released an 790FX/SB750 board yet. Whatsup with that...

I'm really happy with alot of this Deneb info thats coming out. I've always been a guy that sticks with the innovative underdog. I still have and Amiga 4000 in the closet...

Just to show you what a nerd (old guy) I am, my first computer was a Commodore Vic20 (~$500). It had a 32x40 character screen and 4k of Ram.

Before you laugh, it did have 16 colors! That POS Apple and TRS80 were just Green and black...

I probably spent another $400 on a 16k Ram card and a 5 1/4 floppy drive! That Cassette tape drive was just too slow!
