Interesting, can you do it on other bios releases?
I've omly tested to bios 308 and it would not post on anyhitng above 425FSB, you mkae me want to toss it back in the MAximus X38 and crank the NB volts to see what it cn do

Yep I did 471 FSB on 0308 Rampage BIOS with 1.61 NBv. I can POST at 500 FSB but it would just stop at the microsoft loading bar. Maybe if I was on water and crank up the NBv more it would probably boot.

My Adata Extreme DDR1200 kit could manage 1400mhz (2x 1GB) but by then the timings were a bit poor. 1340 @ 5-5-5-18

lower your multi to 6 or 7 and try to boot at 445-450
up NB volts if required as others have suggested, if no post then your at a wall.

So i booted without any problem 6x440, and on 6x445 it frezes after windows loading bar, at 6x450 it doesn't show even BIOS logo.
And i also couldn't boot at 8.5х440 ( though i did it at 6x440)
What do you think about it?

Yes, even tried up to 1,7V-didn't help

stop that. 1.55v is more then enough... try to raise fsb to 1.4 or even 1.45v, vPLL to 1.55v and be sure your DDR aren`t holding u back, relax it on level 1, use the lowes frequency avaible 1:1 and use 2.00v cause this board overvolts it a bit. FSB strap set to 400, gives me better stability over 520mhz fsb, and also better bandwitch in read and write.


Bios 410 is great try it, I am at 601 now... @ 530x8 e8400 e0 @ 1.28v

Hey mate, I'm pretty much having the same problem as you are...

Look a page or 3 back (at max) you'll see my description and settings.

I'm currently running 9*445 which >seems< stable. But I cap around that max too. 4.2GHz for example is a no go for me (which is 9*460 or so)

Im about to flip here.Been reading this thread almost every day waiting for my Maximus to come from RMA but on tuesday its almost 4weeks when i sent it there.
Hope i get it soon so i go by your lead and try to beat the crap out of my Q9300.

Update to my misery : Maximus Formula aint available in my country anymore and they offer me Maximus Formula ll instead.So i would get new MF2,its more expensive here but some how i dont fancy any P45.Other option is to take that RMA as in money (210€) and buy new mobo from their shop (they cover 210€ of my new mobo and refund the rest if i take cheaper)
I got Asus P5Q pro as a replacement board atm but i really dont like it at all.Any ideas?

List the options you have.

- To get new Maximus Formula 2 cause they dont have the original Maximus Formula X38.
- Get 210€ (price of my X38 MF) to the shop and choose other motherboard,if i get cheaper they refund.
- Put more money 210€ + X amount of €uros for new mobo ( dont see any sense in this cause i7 came out to waste lots of money to high end socket 775 mobo.)

It has taken 4 weeks from them and if i understood correctly MF2 is 8x in crossifire and MF X38 is 16x.So i basically feel im getting more expensive but more suckier mobo.I got 280GTX but they dont know that in the shop so...
I also got Asus P5Q-pro mobo but im planning to sell this cause i really dont like this.
There is basically my options.Im planning to keep this pc for a while to till the i7 fuzz settles and i can get them for reasonable price (6-12months)

I'm about to go from extreme air cooling to wc, it's "officially" unstable at 4GHz..

If your running a single GPU you will get FULL 16x, CF is limited to 8x but its only noticable in benches.

My only suggestion/advice is to reseat the NB when / if you get it and run bios 1307 anything higher is craptastic for now. Maybe Asus will close the bar and let the bios engineers sober up so they can get it right.

I have both boards MIIF and Maximus X38 I doubt you'll be disapointed with the choice.

Damn thats nice. Thats pretty close to my settings now at 3.84ghz. Your vcore is a lot lower then mine tho. Im at 1.39 in bios.
