so you really think jedec standard and any other spd's don't make any sense on your performance, oc ability or mb support? who is talking about jedec standard? maybe you just have to try any other brand's spd on the same micron based kit and test them. i think there could be some fixes on low voltage kits to perform or support x58 better, or just lower the rating of the released diablo tri ch kits (because i don't think those gtr's can hit 2000 cl8 at healthy vdimm on x58).

    Lets put it this way.
There is JEDEC standard speed tables in SPD programmed. This is standard, and SHOULD work in every board, otherwise if it don't, its boards fault, or motherboard not supporting chip/chip density.
You can improce performance by modifying JEDEC table. I have Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop with two Samsung 512MB sticks rated 266MHz at 2.5-3-3-7. I edited JEDEC table for 266MHz to work at 2-2-2-5. Performance has improved, but this isn't standard, because there is no such standard speed in JEDEC DDR documentation, neither DDR SODIMM have XMP or EPP extension. This is cheating, becasue JEDEC tables include standard SSTL voltage, and sticks might not work in every board if you do it this way. Also you might seen some OCZ sticks Tony told that they won't work in some boards due to too tight subtimings in SPD. They wanted to squeeze performance by killing compatibility and ended up with problems. Tony of course solved it very fast, but sure it caused headaches for some customers. OC ability should not be decreased/increased if SPD JEDEC tables are made by standard, because at overclocked speeds either board sets subtimings, or you do by hand.
What comes to SPD extensions in this case XMP only becasue there is no nVidia chipset for LGA1366 yet, most of DDR3 LGA775 boards i seen sets XMP by default and lots of boards still read XMP incorrectly anyway. If your X58 chipset reads XMP properly, and sets high voltage settings automatically, this can cause problems. If you don't use XMP, and this is xtremesystems, so probably nobody here really uses it, sticks will work fine in every DDR3 board, let it be X58 or X98 as long as its DDR3. Of course there will be out TriCh kits with proper Nehalem low voltage XMP, but there won't be anything new excluding few modified bytes at XMP table.

as you also mentioned jedec is a standard. if your spd using only one profile and you modify it, performance will improve like you told, and it could come up some issues ofc, but that's why all overclocked rams come with different spd settings like the CSX Diablo3 2000 2GB. if you change the values of the 2nd profile settings it has no influence of the compatibilty because your mem will boot always at 1.50v and 1066/1333mhz what the 1st jedec standard is of that chip. my opinion is for ocing DDR3 at X58 different binning will be needed.
about XMP, it's for advanced users, that's why it's important to modify for tri ch tested safe values. but don't forget, XMP is for girls at this place

Small update to earlier post... 2200Mhz 8-7-6-18-1T P1&P2 enabled wasnt possible at this voltage. So I played with different dividers and improved bw quite a bit!

    eVGA 790i bios P07 (vSPP 1.55)
    8600@533Mhz x 9 = 4800Mhz (vCore 1.55v vFSB 1.45)
2133Mhz Mems@2.1v (still under warranty! lol!)
1:2 linked divider, 8-7-6-18-1T P1&P2 enabled (memset untouched, no subtiming tweaks, still more to gain)

We've got the memory ordered, just waiting for CSX to ship. I'll let you guys know once it does, and we'll make the memory available for purchase at that time.

Yes, they are in stock at CSX, give them a call & they will tell you where you can buy them from, or tell them where you want to buy it from & they will supply it directly to your retailer.

Now, just imagine what this sticks should be able to do in your x58, cant wait for your results!

So Rodriguez, the problem with your first kit if I remember was with GTS or GTR ICs?

I have a Rampage II & 965 arriving on monday, although I have to wait for Dtek to send me the adaptor bracket for Fuzion 2.

The problem with my first Diablo 4Gb kit GTS was not because of the type, it was a bad chip that couldn't even clock to standard settings, it happens just like CPU's. Previously I used 4x1Gb Crucial with GTS chips that was great, although they seem to work a little different than GTR. They clock much better/higher with less voltage but without very aggressive timings, although they also can do agressive timings but not as much as GTR.

I think GTS will be a better companion for X58 reaching high clocks with lower voltage & looser timings which don't have the same impact as with 775 FSB platform.
