your running three sticks of ram?

if you are your gonna see your performance go through the floor because you aren't running in dual channel anymore. either go to 8gb or drop back to 4gb

no i'm running 2x2 + 2x1 teamgroup.. they rated the same, PC8500 CL5 2.1-2.2v currently 1066 2.0v.. these for temporary.. 4x2GB is im after next, probably right before new year.. but i havent decide whtas best.. do you think there are 4x2GB ddr 8500 can speed up to 1100 or more at decent voltage? NBs not really an issue, this board has quite good temp at high voltage

hmmm I got good speeds out of 4x1gb on this board once with d9gkx, but its hard to say. maybe go with this new g.skill that looks absolutely dirty for OC

If I hadn't just committed to ddr3 on my next board I would be all over it myself

btw you guys should be on 602 or 603 its way faster
soon as i get more time i'm over with x38 n goin back to my ut p35

yeah prolly one o the best mem to get dirty, problem is.. its very rare in my country and i had to pay quite exp for shipping.. i only get these cheap team xtreem dark 8500 to test my E84 above 520fsb on this board been using "not so good" corsair 6400 DHX C4 that did good enough with this board, 1020 4-4-4-12.. above that, wont post! even looser timming

erlier bios seems bit faster alright.. (4x1GB corsair 6400 DHX C4)
    10/02 bios

    7/25 bios

but i love this mobo too much to get tortured i wantto keep it in shape for my daily tasks.. giving my abitX38 and P35 DQ6 a hard time still, not as good as this one

Man, I have such a terrible Q6600. It's absolutely ridiculous. Too bad I blew all that cash on this amazing board
only to pair it with such a stinker

Highest settings I tried tonight were 1.46 vcore, 1.42 FSB VTT, 1.36 NB.

    That's with perf level set at 8, 5-5-5-15-54, at 1:1 400mhz.

I couldn't even get 9x400 3600mhz stable in OCCT or P95 with those settings... And that's all under water.

Honestly, think I'm just gonna stick with 3.2 ghz at this point. Too depressing to bother with this thing anymore

And as a sidenote. Hitting 80c on the mosfets is alright is it not? AKA the "system" temp. I had read that they're designed to work fine up until 100c or so.

And let me tell you... When you have a crap Q6600 and have to really pump those volts, the temp rockets up fast.

ye need more power scotty! the Q6600 is a tank, you really cant kill it

I ran a q6600 g0 @ 4.005 ghz for 8 months with no degredation. posted the same w-prime scores the week i got it and the week I ditched it .

    1.62 VCORE
    1.6 VTT
    1.64 VNB

get those GTLs up around 70% for the best prime stability.

as far as the mosfet temp goes, are you using a backplate for the CPU????? if not then this is the reason for your bad mosfet temps. if you haven't already, get a slim 80mm from performance-pcs (Hiper brand) and get that sucker blowing on the PWM heatsink ASAP.

See, once I had hit 1.42 VTT I was nervous already. I know the Q's can handle the voltages pretty easily up until 1.5, but I keep being told that over 1.4 VTT is bad in the long run.

So you would disagree? What would you put as the "safe limit" for 24/7? I had thought 1.4, but maybe 1.5? Even as you said above, 1.6?

Northbridge I shouldn't need higher than 1.35 or so at the most should I? Only running 400mhz FSB and relaxed timings so far.

And GTL's. I have to be honest, I've been OC'ing for a fairly long time, but I have absolutely no idea what exactly these are or how to manipulate them.

You're saying put all 3 at 70%? I guess it's probably not going to be so easy as "here's the best numbers for that CPU" as all CPU's are a little different, but is there a pretty consistently good setup for Q6600's in general?

I do have a backplate, so don't think the board has flexed much. As for a fan. I'll have to pick one up next time I can. In the short term should I be fine though? I've heard 120c - 160c max, so they must be able to take temps without much issue no?

Thanks for the info. I've always felt very close to achieving 3600 mhz on this board with this chip, but I always get frustratingly close and give up.

Hopefully I can just get it this try

hmmm I'll try to answer all these.

    - 1.6 vtt is perfectly fine on a 65nm, its the 45nm's we worry about.

    - you have water on the NB so you could even go to 1.7v safely as long as NB stays <45C at all times

    - once you get air moving over the PWMs you will be MUCH better off, find a makeshift way now if you can, any way, then get a fan that I mentioned before for a long term solution.

for GTLs its pretty hard to explain simply but try setting this

    140 gtl ref 0/2
    132 gtl ref 1/3
    115 nb ref

    with 1.6 vtt

-as far as safe limits go keep your temps under control and your within safe boundaries, you really cant hurt the q6600 in my experience. I did some pretty brutal things to mine while I had it and it never let me down

Alright well I'm gonna hit it fresh tomorrow and start again. I'll try being a little less scared on the volts.

Ever since my E6600 spontaneously died a couple years back I've been really cautious with C2D/Q.

Thanks again. Hopefully I'll be able to update with some decent results.

I dont think you can kill it with Vtt at all, just dont get TOO happy with the Vcore, make sure your temps are always in line and keep the increments you go up by small. good luck

Okay well just finished hooking up my board and.....nothing! Tried only hooking up the 24-pin and 8-pin and nothing standby power led is on and so is the dram power led. Nothing posts on the code screen PSU doesn't even power up. Any ideas or helpful tips do you need both 4-pins on the MB hooked up? PSU was tested and no problems.

I've bought Open Box before never had any issues, but you may have been the chosen one.

I doubt they will test those boards, they will probably only check for physical blemishes and that's all.

If nothing appears on the Code display pretty sure it's RMA time.
