    I7 920 Air - PT6 - 2 Stock GTX280's = 27K 3DMark2006

Since still is not possible to get 965XE's here, I decide to train my Nehalem skills with the entry level 920

    Setup:
    - I7 920 Retail Cooled by the Tuniq with special "mounting" kit
    - Asus P6T Deluxe
    - 3 Cellshocks DDR3 14400
    - 2 EVGA 280 GTX
    - Seasonic 1000W

I'm must say I'm quite impressed with this CPU, overclocking is quite easy and the memory bandwith is really impressive.

First some SuperPI / Everest action :

    SPi 1M - 9.5sec quite easy..

21470MB/s Mem Read and 26.9ns latency, that's quite nice since most the memory multipliers does not work in the 920 but only on the 965XE.

The CPU runs quite easy Superpi 32M at 4.200Mhz (Turbo enable) with only 1.44v

    300K Aquamark quite easy

And last but not least - 3DMark2006 at 4.200Mhz with 2 stock GTX280's with moderate OC

27.261 General Score and more than 8.000 CPU score is quite impressive considering the low speed of the CPU..

Can't wait for the arrival of my 965XE to put it in the cascade for more serious OC action

    Very nice air results Pedro!

You should have all memory multipliers available on the i7 920 if you have a retail CPU and latest bios (08xx)

Damn that Lavalys screenie is pure pr0n for memory tweakers. It's a shame it doesn't really offer much advantage despite the huge bandwidth (and low latency). Don't remember ever seeing such sudden increase in RAM b/w.

Man so even ~4GHz is possible (daily usage) with a 920, that's well above my expectations which was more like perhaps 3.4 ~ 3.7GHz. i7 starts looking more and more interesting, well not for my wallet but it's free to watch at least.

Haha, 1337 result. Are you fooling with us or.

That's like really high CPU score for Vantage (and 3DMark06) at such clock.

nice clocks Pedro, got any pics of the "ghetto" mounting?

Iam stuck with stock cooling on my 920i, and that is not a good cooler.

You can see a photo here : http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...2&postcount=15

    Really easy: you just need a Tuniq + AS5 + 1 box of CD's

What's your preference Pedro; P6T or the UD5?
