True; I was never looking to fix the pull-ins as the difference is so insignificant, but the fact they did get fixed is a bonus I guess
I agree 100% it makes no difference in real world use.

But for Everest, it certainly is noticeable...

    Hi everybody
I upgraded my p5q pro bios to 1406m and that made my pc work (at last) with 3 memory sticks.
Before it worked just with 2 sticks (posted also with 3 sticks but refused to load any OS, just BSOD)

But as before, it won't post with all 4 sticks inserted. No post, no beeps, nothing... I checked every possible combination using 2 or 3 sticks and it seems that either sticks or slots are not dead.
I tried to raise NB and DRAM voltages a bit, but no success, change timing parameters, nothing changed.
Just can't post with all sticks...

    Any suggestion?

    here's my configuration:

    (of course) ASUS P5Q Pro
    INTEL Core 2 Quad 9550 2,83 Ghz
    PNY memory 4x2Gb DDR2-800 PC2-6400 CL5 (1.8v)
    Sparkle GeForce 9500 GT 1024 DDR2 PCI-E 2.0

    Thank you!

I tried again... every slot and stick works.
Just I noticed another case in which it won't post: leaving the first slot empty.

    so

    1-1-1-0 OK
    1-0-1-1 OK
    1-1-0-1 OK
    0-1-1-1 No POST
    1-1-1-1 No POST

    Don't know what to think...

Have you tried upping the NB Voltage to carry 4 Sticks ?.

Set Memory to 2.1v and NB to at least 1.30v just to test it out with all 4 sticks.

Yes I tried to raise them up to 2.1v and 1.38v, step by step, but nothing changed...
I played a bit trying different bios version and I noticed that with older bios, system would post just with 2 memory sticks inserted (either yellow or black), so maybe I just have to hope in a new bios release...

Have you tried manually increasing the tRFC value; four sticks often needs a looser setting.

The difference, while very small as far as overall system performance is concerned, it is still nearly as much as moving to the next higher memory ratio, or ten MHz on the FSB.

    Nothing again...
I tried also to raise latency, common performace level, tried to enable pull-ins for both channels, nothing, just nothing.
Now it even won't post if I leave second Slot empty (before it worked).

    I start to feel discouraged...

Yeah i missed that link. Btw, Martin, forget about crappy WinZIP. Get yourself 7-zip... far better tool for compressed files.

Ket, Is it at all possible to split the GTL's 2 ways on the P5Q-Deluxe? By this I mean tighten up how much the change is in bios, ie; the numerical change from .650 to .655 is default and the question is could it be changed in bios to do say .650 to .653, then .655 etc? Fine tuning is all but impossible now.

Question # 2; Would it also be possible to split the CPU GTL's up, ie; 0/2 and 1/3 to 0/1/2/3 ? If so, how much time do you think would be involved in modifying these values?

Thank you for your time and Great bios's.

Thanx hema, there's a new bios for P5Q PRO too!
They say they just improved Kingston KVR800D2N6/2G DDR2 800MHz 2G memory compatibility... let's see if it will work with my poor PNYs, I'll let you know!

Hi everyone! I'm trying to get the best performance out of my Q6600, but I can only get it to 3GHz (prime-stable). If I give it more FSB, prime crashes and I get a BSOD in Vista.

    The Hardware I use:
    QuadCore Q6600
    Thermalright tower
    Asus P5Q Deluxe
    4x 2GB G.Skill PC2-8000U CL5-5-5-15 (DDR2-1000)
    SeaSonic 500W PSU

And here are the Biossettings (Ai Tweaker):
    CPU Ratio Setting - [Auto]
    FSB Frequency - [333] ( CPU-Z says 334 real) (9x333=3GHz)
    PCIE Frequency - [100]
FSB Strap to North Bridgle - [Auto]
    DRAM Frequency - [DDR2-890MHz]
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A1 - [Auto]
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A2 - [Auto]
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B1 - [Auto]
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B2 - [Auto]
    DRAM Timing Control - [Auto]

DRAM Static Read Control - [Disabled]
    DRAM Read Training - [Disabled]
    MEM. OC Charger - [Enabled]
    Ai Click Twister - [Light]

CPU Voltage - [Auto] ( CPU-Z says 1,41V real! Is this ok (24/7)?)
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2) - [Auto]
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3) - [Auto]
    CPU PPL Voltage - [Auto]
    FSB Termination Voltage - [Auto]
    DRAM Voltage - [2.06]
    NB Voltage - [Auto]
    NB GTL Reference - [Auto]
    SB Voltage - [Auto]
    PCIE SATA Voltage - [Auto]

    Load-Line Calibration - [Enabled]
    CPU Spread Spectrum - [Disabled]
    PCIE Spread Spectrum - [Disabled]
    CPU Clock Skew - [Normal]
    NBClock Skew - [Normal]
    CPU Margin Enhancement - [Optimized]

I've read now, that the CPU Margin Enhancement should work better in "performance" for Quads, other say, that it could damage the CPU. And then there is of course the Bios version. Currently I'm running 1004 (out-of-the-box). Some now say, that version 0803 is the best (works without CPU Margin Enhancement) and others say, version 1406 is the one to go for (and not to forget v.1302). And then there are of course the modded ones here. I really could use some help here...

    Thank you very much!
    Sick

This isn't really the thread for it, but try turning down the CPU Ratio and pushing the FSB. That will tell you whether you are limited by memory or by CPU.

I have a problem that the bios is giving my memory to litle volt on atuto. To use the g.skill 6400 3.4.3.3 I have first to put in some corsair 1,8v sticks to boot, and set vmem to 2,1v in bios.

After this is done, I can boot with mye g.skill. Using P5Q-E mBIOS 1306.

Is it posible to set auto v-mem to 2.1?

at the CPU Ratio of 6 the FSB 350 is stable. So should I dump the Quad? Still can give it back to the seller.
