I'm loving the idea of the fan holder as an alternative to wire clips, but will they sell it separately? I want to get the TRUE Copper but enjoy the benefit of the fan holder for a push-pull config. Also, does anyone know if the included fan is any good?

are they making the base humped and thus worthless like the original TRUE
are they making the X bracket tighten down so loosely that, yet again, the heatsink becomes useless....

i saw, but do not recall who, someone using this on an i7 system for review (someone here)

Looks like MSRP of the 1366 bracket is $9.00 US. Not the end of the world, but not great.

Most review sample Nehalem kits came with TRUEs actually.

And yes, the included fan is a great 1600RPM fan....it's a Scythe S-Flex F with a different sticker (Sony is the OEM).

IIRC Sony is the general MFGR for Scythe, I think (but I'm not sure) that Sony holds the patent on fdb fans.

Looks like it'll do the job as usual for TR. I'm glad they're at least offering the 1366 mounting kit, how many other mfgrs don't bother?

I'm looking to do a push-pull config, but I want my fans to be as silent as possible when my i7 is idle or on light load. Would you guys recommend these 1600RPM fans that Thermalright includes or should I go with Noctua's? Thanks in advance.

So it's a TRUE, but compatible with LGA1366. I bet there'll be a lovely bout of price gouging to accompany such a thing.

Or you can just buy the mounting kit and re-use your existing TRUE, I'm willing to bet this TRUE is about the same price as any other TRUE.

Wait so does this TRUE have any differences compare to the current TRUE or it just has a different mount kit? $9 ain't bad for the kit considering I just need to buy it to use with my lapped TRUE.

Wow, so they're now shipping it with a fan holder that doesn't fit 38mm fans, great. A step backwards IMO. They should have kept the wires and instead ship it with a lapping kit and some washers.

Meh, I meant the new TRUE is probably about the same price as any other TRUE.

It's not like zip ties don't fix any fan mounting problems on the TRUE anyway, hell, zip ties are the stock mounting method for any fan on their HR coolers now.

Great job including the fan holders. I've got the current Ultra-120 with a pair of Scythe S-Flex F mounted so this seems like an almost identical setup - just slightly easier to setup I would imagine. Great job Thermalright

I have had pleasure to test this cooler with a Nehalem system, and I can say the mounting has improved: mounting pressure is much better, and thread on every screw is a bit longer. Fan is just a generic fan, not bad, but nothing exceptional either. It's quite silent, but performs worse than Noctua wide blade fan.

Lol.. Noctua, offers LGA1366 brackets free of charge to owners of current Noctua coolers. Thermalright, not only take $9 for the bracket but introduce a 'new' sku with a thin fan and the new bracket. Funny.

I know which cooler I'll be buying next time

Noctua mounting kit doesn't even come close to TR in terms of mounting pressure and weight support. Noctua fan clips are also much less convenient than TRs clips or this new bracket. Sure Noctua cooler weights the same, performs almost the same, looks almost the same, but such little details is what makes Thermalright superior.

Fan clip is sorta annoying, I don't like it really. It never seems to clip in perfectly and feels flimsy.

Looks nice. Also the fanholder, although the normal fanholders work good too Well, installing can be annoying but at least you can hide some cables around them, now you cant.

Any word on release/availability though? Or availability for the 1366kit?

Oh, I'm very happy they decided to make a bolt-through kit.

I have a lapped TRUE right now, and if I ever decide to go Nehalem (though I'll probably skip it), it's nice to know I don't need a new cooler.
