    SB700 vs SB750.....

A while back I upgraded my HTPC by shifting my Biostar TA770 to my HTPC with a inexpensive 4050e 45W dual core and I bought a ASUS M3A78 motherboard to replace the Biostar board. With the Biostar I could never get 3.2Ghz out of the 5000+ Black Edition, but after I moved the 5000+ Black Edition to the ASUS board I can get 3.2Ghz easy with just the change of the multiplier. In fact, if I add volts I can get 3.3-3.35 max out of the Black Edition now....but it gets too hot due to my cooling not being sufficient.

Now I know the SB700 doesn't support ACC, but it sure helps me overclock my chip better over my previous SB600. Overall, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this. I am gearing up for Deneb and was wondering if I should go with SB750 or stick with what I have. Overall, I have to upgrade because I am selling my wife's system and I am doing the ol' shifting of hardware deal. I can either keep what I have and buy cheaper hardware for her or do another upgrade for myself.

    List of systems....
    1. Q6600/Biostar mobo(Great room PC)
    2. 5000+/ASUS mobo(Gaming Rig ...for now)-Opted to wait for Deneb instead of getting 9950.
    3. 4060e/Biostar mobo(HTPC)
    4. 4800X2/MSI mobo(Wifes system) Note: This is the one I am selling.

Dude, people like you make me spend. They ought to ban you! I guess I will have to go SB750. The thing now is I need to find one that DON'T have on board video and only one PCI E slot. I am totally against using a board with onboard video. So I am open to any suggestions as long as it is a name brand board. Amy thoughts?

    BTW, nice clocks man.

Why not just wait for Deneb to be fully released rather than sttling for the current kit?

Yeah, they should ban you. LOL Do you know of any boards that have the SB750 chipset without the darn on board video deal? Sorry your wife made you sell. My wife games just as hard as I. She was console only when we met. Now she only games on PC. Overall, I am going to wait for Deneb, but need to buy a motherboard now.

BTW, the 9950 thread is sick. I hate all those guys with 9950's in that thread. ...Got me so jealous. Atleast I have my Q6600......but it's not as much fun as AMD.

Because I am selling off hardware and don't like for my systems to be torn down in my house. Overall I can wait for the Deneb but need a motherboard now. I have a spare AM2+ I can toss in it until Deneb is released. Besides most AM2+ (SB750) boards will run Denebs without a hitch.

I must say, the 9950 was a lot of fun...

The ASUs board is 188.99 at Newegg.
The Foxconn is 164.99.....and gets bad reviews too. Also not name brand.
The DFI board IS 174.99 at Newegg.

Overall, I always use simple/inexpensive boards. I want a non-Crossfire/non-SLI motherboard that don't have on board video. A board similar to my current ASUS M3A78, but with the SB750 chipset is something I would buy ASAP right now. It seems there aren't any that suit my needs/taste. I find this weird because ASUS usually have alot of choices to choose from. I think I may just have to buy one of the ones with onboard video....atleast I can sell it later. It's either that or wait for more board to be released. All I want is single slot PCI E 2.0 and no onboard video. Maybe later ASUS will make a M4A79(non-delux) like they did with the M3A78 series.(*Crossing Fingers*)

    AMD Gaming.....

AMD HTPC....(Only 1280X720p due to my Projector's native)

Currently reformating the other so I can sell it.

i just bought myself the asus m3a79-t. my dfi 790fx lan party dark just died on me. actually, i turned it on over the weekend and the south bridge got fried . it's about time for a new mobo anyway, but it was tough to shell out $200 during hard times. hopefully this asus board will be good. it'll be a new learning curve for me again. i've been search all weekend for bios tweaking on this asus board. anyone got good links for bios tweaking?

Yeah, I want one of those! Any word on these two Denebs being BE's? It's would be awesome if they were.

Damn man! Nice Kick Azz Overclock you have there. What do you have for cooling? I have that exact same board inside my HTPC. How in the heck did you get that 9850 to go so far? I am going to take your advice and keep this ASUS board. If it does OC a Deneb well then I will try it in the Biostar TA770 and see what it will do. Looking at SS like yours make me so stoked about AMD. My Credit Card is burning a hole in my pocket right now. I want to buy a Phenom now, but with Deneb so close I don't see the point in doing so........ but when I see SS like yours I start getting that itch. Again, great clock you have there.

I used an XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 for cooling. Note his overclock is not at all stable. But another user of XS(gOtVoltage) got an oc similar to this stable on a TA 770 A2+, XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 .

Also I would use the Biostar instead of the asus because the power circuity on it looks a little better. Also if you are going to use a phenom with this board I STRONGLY recommend you actively cool the mosfets.

I would get these mosfet heatsinks, http://www.petrastechshop.com/enmomohekit.html , and get some small fans to go over them, http://www.petrastechshop.com/40scmcafan4c.html .

Also, I do not have this process and motherboard anymore, I really need to update my sig.

Here is some info about the TA 770 A2+ at the Rebels Haven,(aka Biostar Heaven)

Hmmm, that cooler looks nice. Is that "The Best" AM2 cooling solution ATM? I guess I spring some money on one of those while I wait for Denebs to be released. As far as the circuit comment.....I thought the ASUS was better. It officially supports 140W CPU's and has better Mosfets than the TA770. Both have the same 770NB, but the ASUS has the better 700SB. The ASUS has come nice capacitors and etc. on it too.

I was affraid to buy a 9850 when I was using the TA770 in my main gaming system due to it not officially not supporting the 9850's at first. NTM, a few guys claimed they burned there boards up with a 9850. In any case, I will give this link a look. That for the link BTW.

Here is a detailed overview of my board...

Oh, when I did a image search on google, the first board that came up was this,

But just like the Biostar, I would recommend cooling the mosfets.

Also the TRUE is the best cpu cooler, http://www.petrastechshop.com/thulhecpucos.html , but the XIGMATEK is much cheaper and almost preforms as good as the TRUE,http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233003 .

Also I would keep an eye out on in the Air Cooling sub-forum, because there is always something new coming out.
    Asus Crosshair III
    Phenom X2 550@X4
    Cooler Master V10
    2x2gb G-SKILL DDR3
    ASUS HD 4890 Top
    Antec 850w
    WD 500gb
    WD 80gb

Yeah, that board is not that great. I have a few heatsinks left over from my GFX Chilla that I can throw on the mosfets, but to be honest they don't get hot. That may change when I go Quad, but for now the mosfets run cool. A tad luke warm while in operation, but this is only with a overclocked 5000+ BE. Will keep an eye out on the cooling boards, but after reading the reviews of the one you suggested I may just get that or get a cheaper Sunbeam cooler.
