Deus Ex: Invisible War + Vista

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am having issues getting Invisible War to run on my machine. I installed it and am able to get to the menu screen only if I Alt+Tab in and out of the program. This happens for all resolutions. Furthermore, when I go to play the game, I have to hit Esc to bring up the menu where I choose my character's looks, but that is all I'm able to do. I confirm that I want to start the game, then the "Ion Launcher" program begins only to terminate without any error message. Nothing exists in the Task Manager or anywhere else.

Is there a known issue between this game and Vista? This is my only computer so I can't load the game in XP and play if that is the case, so any help getting it to run on my machine as is would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: Compatibility mode through Vista for XP SP2 and Windows 2000 do not work, either. All my drivers are updated.

    Thank you for responding!

No, I bought it through Amazon.com. It is a "PC Gamer Presents" version. Didn't even come with an instruction manual...

It says CD-ROM version but what I received was on a DVD-ROM.

Edit: I tried reinstalling it, and now it says I don't even have the DVD in the drive. What a bunch of crap! I hate Securom.

I just realized that Amazon.com perhaps sold me the European version. Could this be the issue?

Could very well be. Did you apply the 1.2 patch?. Seems some people have no issues at all. And some people having black screens, dialouge problems etc.

Well I bought the Steam version based upon my suspicion of the DVD region issue and the Steam version works fine so I'll return the DVD to Amazon. Thanks for the help, guys!
