well i'm just going based on what i've seen, and some people have gotten some good results let me tell you.

    thanks

still testing more settings. I tried out that hardware oc switches that are on the mobo pretty good it booted up at 240mhzfsb the only thing is its locked out in the bios if you do the switches oc. I was hopeing I could continue overclocking the fsb in the bios and see if it made a difference but it wasnt to be. But it did work so that kinda cool

My temps right now are solid (47C* @ 1.55v) so my next question would be what is the max safe voltage for these chips because I am considering burning this one in at like 1.7v since its 40F outside and I like it cold. (because 1.7v i know will make it run stable)

I would not try to go over 1.55v, but I ran mine at 1.63v for about an hour or two. Still alive. I dont know man, I really dont know whats the max, I guess it depends a lot on how far your cooling can go

Well Im going to try my previous methods with AMD chips and so far it looks to be working ok. I just ran CPU burn on the chip at very high voltage (1.6v) for the last 18 hours and now it appears that 3ghz at 1.45v is stable now.

Ill continue the usual process of backing it off and hopefully I will get back to 3.1 stable

Hey I have been getting system errors in my system logs. I ran mem test 86+ and my ram is fine SO I know it is not the ram... But with ACC, when I run any stress test, whether @ stock or OC'd, I get system errors and my system reboots. Not all the time just depends.. I also get "error caused by device driver...." anyone have this ?.. I don't have this with ACC off.

Oh check out my idle temp with ACC off and @ 3.0ghz.. Swiftech H20 Apogee kit..I think it was worth the $190.00 US I paid for it..Ok, so all my gear is mounted outside the case..Ok..so my fans are on 12v, ..Yes My pump is on high...ok..it is 70F in hear...

    man I hope not...45nm isn't even out yet..I'd have to buy a 125w 9950..

I wish I had a way to really get this thing cold...I bet I could really crank out an OC...

    I bet.

The error I was getting when my CPU was dead was this one:

    WMIxWDM Machine Check Error

A machine check error is an error in the processor that is detected by the OS and is correctable (if it wasn't, your machine would bugcheck/bluescreen). This usually signifies that your processor may need to be repaired/replaced (hopefully under warranty), as these are hardware errors happening in the processor. Since these only occur when running x64 versions of Windows, it would stand to reason that these errors are occurring in one of the additional registers addressable only by 64bit software. You can disable this error on Server 2003, but since it is a serious error, you should try to replace that hardware under warranty while you still can.

Error code 1000008e = "KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M" - Most of newsgroup comments about this error point to faulty hardware or drivers. The hardware varies from modems, video cards, USB device to memory or sound cards. Sometimes it proves to be hardware that it is not compatible with Windows XP. M310740 gives an example of this error occuring when and old Audigy sound card driver is installed.

Ok I want to start ocing my phenom 9950 be. I plan on using AOD for the time being until I can figure out this wierd bios. Anyways what are some settings you guys would reccomend? I was thinking 200x16= 3.2ghz. But im kind of confused on what my Chipset and NB voltage should be? Whats the max? I dont want to burn anything out on my new rig lol. Any help would be awsome.

up your multi one notch at a time dude, dont do big increments. Once it becomes unstable then adjust the CPU voltage little by little and monitor your temps

nb and chipset volts donīt necessaryly need to be increased when ur clocking by upping the cpu multi.
all i adjusted for getting 3.2ghz stable was the cpu vcore and the cpu-nb-vcore and enabling acc for all cores at +2%.

Starting round 2 of the burn-in process, now looks like I have 3.05ghz at 1.4v flat stable so I'm making progress as this would constatnly bsod previously. Also added a RAM fan to help stabilize things out

Also got my first SuperPI-able boot at 3.1 with 1.5v

well it looks like this is the sweet spot for my system unless I go with higher voltage on the cpu.

NB and HT frequency was good up to 2520mhz at the max volts in the bios, fsb is good to 279mhz, memory is good to 1100mhz, cpu went to 3600@1.6v.

So I tried to get the most from every part of the system to get as close to max stable settings in each sector seems like this is it unless I either get better cooling to run 1.55+v 24/7 into the cpu because the next step up is 3.51ghz and I need 1.55v to run at that speed, Im going to try benching at 3.5 tonight but Im pretty happy with this setup now the way it is.

Im also going to try lowering the voltages little by little. Since I know this is stable I can lower each one at a time test for a day and if its good just leave it.

    Hmmm.

AOD seems to be a bit crappy on my setup (also with my previous 9850BE). I tried both 212 as it's the newest version available from DFI but also 214. It might be that I need to get another BIOS though, but I want to be sure since Im not going to flash for every fart like I did with the 790FX-M2R

Anyway, the problem is that, apart from the GUI which is a bit confusing, I cant seem to get ACC working via AOD. It stays greyed out. What I mean with the GUI is that whenever you click a setting, which normally would result in a little 'V' as selection, it just doesnt happen. You cant see whether you activated something or not. I hope you guys understand what I mean

Also, I cant seem to get my HTT very high. I didnt try to find the max, but 250Mhz was bootable but would BSOD fairly quick, same for 240Mhz. It's been so long I tried to get the HTT higher on my previous build, which never worked anyway, I might have forgotten some easy solutions to get it higher.

So does VNorthbridge, VSouthbridge, VHT, Vcore or whatever help in this? Or any settings? To be sure I lowered even my RAM multiplier and of course HT and NB multiplier. But it didnt help.

I think I will start burning now my cpu at that speed to see if I can manage to make my system get used at this volt and then get some more fsb.

But it didnt help.
set the ht and nb multi to 10 for 240mhz fsb and 9 when going over 250 this will give you just the right play to go higher or lower between 2400 and 2550mhz. I raised my nb and HT volts to 1.4-1.45v just for the hell of it to get it stable These voltages will not harm the system if you have a cool running system if your system runs hot with minimal fans I wouldnt go far with voltages.

It took 1.5v to get to 2520 mhz though on the ht and nb which was too high so I just run between 2400-2500 in that vicinity.

Oh also turn on acc in the bios and set it to +2. If its disabled in the bios I think it stays grayed out in AOD but even if you try and set it in AOD it still makes you reboot so I just set it in the bios and left it like that.

Great job! What are your idle and load temps on air at this vcore?

Wow I opened up AMD overdrive. Set my vcore to 1.395, Set NB-vid to 1.370 and the multi to x16 to get 3.2ghz and its 2 hours prime stable. Im amazed it was THAT ez. Oh and I had to put ACC up +4. And my temps are 50*C load and 29* Idle.
