When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.

Nice SPi 1M. Those everest results are a bit low though, that memory needs to be going faster than 1066 CAS7. Thanks for the scans

I look forward to seeing the cool OC'ing our community will do with these new chips, but personally I will most definitely sit this one out, no major gains in my field of interest.that is unless I get some form of sponsorship

Thanks for the benches gorilla. Are all the tests performed using the same system(w dual ch and SMP enabled)?
    Is the C0 launch stepping?

saaya said something about 220 being the max, but that its very hard to reach due to limitations of other parts.

only because it's the same as the core speed.

    thats harsh, not even 200mhz

hopefully a few bios iterations will get the wall up higher for some of those boards.

hmm seeing OBR small screenshots i am rather confident that he has a correct vision on the new platform as usual.

these are all nice scores, but then again all synthetic benchmarking or HT loving apps....

my conclusion stays for already few months, this new platform is ready for benching and HT ready apps all the rest has no added value moving from there already existing c2q platform.... intel pushed a release for benchers some XS people will be happy

Oh yea, because Core i7 is just for HT loving apps and benchmarks.

QPI will help tremendously for server markets.

you can try on Far Cry 2, the new generation of games like threading, that is for sure! Remember, when you buy a processor, it is an investment for the future ... and the future is happening now ... (beautiful relativist paradox with Quantum mecanic, now is now, but few seconds ago, it was the future ... lol , especially since you can correlate position and time in QM ... hehehe )

Not sure why anybody would be expecting any real gaming performance differences from a cpu with the crop of games currently available. Considering most games are largely limited on the gpu end more so than the cpu end anyways unless you still game at 1024 or something and looking for 300fps.

Looks like i7 is rounding up overall performance very nicely across a variety of workloads.

i am sure that you already tested that part, other wise you wouldn't post this . And indeed future wise it might be interesting, but its not about the future its about all those that have a 65-45nm quad setup with most of them ddr2. At this point in time switching would be waste of money for all of those.

Intel just killed there own high end market share, not even AMD was required for that. they should have focused on there q109 2s server en 2h09 4s server launch in stead of this desktop platform.
