Kingston HyperX: Lets set the facts straight!

Too many issues have arised from this memory, people have acquired some good results, and some really poor ones.

Which are BH-5 and which are CH-5 and which are BH-6?
Hard to know, you have to take off the Heatspreader and void your warrenty to find out.

    Where do I come in?
I bought 2 sticks originally, from www.atic.ca where they wouldn't let me buy one stick, because they say these are dual channel sticks and you must buy 2
    I bought 2 x 256 mb PC3500 that day, one had been labeled 2.5V A00 and the other labeled 2.6V A01
I tested each of them in my NF7-S v2.0 and neither could do 2-2-2-5 timings even with 2.9V at 200 fsb
The 2.5V A00 could not do its rated 7-3-3-2 at 217 fsb so I called Kingston and RMA'd both sticks and recieved dual pack 2.6V A01 sticks
Put them in and still no 2-2-2-5 at 200 fsb, however they do work at 217 fsb 7-3-3-2 2.6V as they are rated to do

    Full details KHX3500K2/512
    9905193-024.A01 K2
    1344573 2.6V

Some people say the A00 are BH-5
Some people say the non A are BH-5

Truth is, it has been a very dissapointing experience with NF7-S v2.0 since it has had so many problems with this memory, and infact other modules (my OCZ Platinum Ltd Edition for example)

My question is, anyone know the facts on which PC3500 sticks are BH-5 and which are CH-5 or BH-6?

I havnt seen any 3500 BH5's kingstons in 8 months. I have some, they will run 262 fsb 1:1 2-2-2-6. When buying them look for that Cas rating 2-2-2-6-1 and they are BH-6's same for the 32000 and 3000's. ZipZoomfly still has some.

It is very unlikely you will find any bh5 3500 kingstons now.

I've gotta chime in on the NF7-S rev. 2 problems, it and my mushkin didn't play well together at all.

Other than that, I think the 3500's are all Ch-5 now, and the 3200 some are ch-5 and some are bh-5 or bh-6.

Axx markings don't mean anything, BH/CH wise.
KHX Non A ARE BH-5, but only KHX3200. KHX3500 is impossible to tell without looking at the chips themselves (or testing their performance of course).
Dual prometeia cooled (one on CPU, one on GPU):

    Abit NF7-S rev 2/2500+/256mb TwinX3200LL + 256mb KHX3200

    24/7: 260x9.5 1:1 2-2-2-11 CPU Interface Enabled (1.85v Vcore, 2.0v VDD, 3.4v Vdimm)
    Record: 266x8 1:1 2-2-2-11 CPU Interface Enabled (1.85v Vcore, 2.15v VDD, 3.55v Vdimm)
Even better record: 271x8 4:3 2.5-4-4-11 CPU Interface Disabled

I cant tell by markings. Only way to tell is when buying it seems look for the ratings. Then when you get the sticks see if they will run a That.

Zipzoomfly has the only Kingston BH5's left i've seen if your looking

    KHX3200/256, KHX3200/512, KHX3200K2/512, KHX3200K2/1G = Pure BH-5

    KHX3000/256 most are with BH-5 & BH-6 chips (might be relabeled as D328DW - 50)

Every other NEW KHX sticks is allmost certainly CH-5.

When I recieved the dual pack from RMA in the dual pack package, no timings are referenced
In fact, when I bought them originally no timings were referenced either.

I stocked up 3 weeks ago before the big price jump. 10 sticks. Plus what i already have.

I kept telling you guys. Now it's your real last chance if you want it. I cant wait to see next weeks prices.

And mushkin's selling BH6 just cause the people are hammering the site for bh5's.

Indeed. I have ordered 2x256mb kingston pc3200 both (BH5) just to have for near future. I already have 2x512 corsair PC3500c2 which are also pure bh5. I wonder what would happen if you combine corsair bh5 with kinston bh5 on intel mobo

Why do you guys stock up on ram?

    I mean I have 2x 256 Corsair XMS3200LL rev 1.1 (Both BH-5)

and 2x 256 OCZ 3700 EL (no clue what they are)

I'm so tempted now adays to just order a bunch of BH-5 sticks then I stop to realize for what? my sticks run fine lol

So whats your reasons for buying all those sticks? Are you constantly frying them by putting in 3,5+ volts?

xS has always had the straight fact on this. HyperX3500 has moved to CH5 so only old sticks can be BH5 really and 3200 non A is also BH5. Day after day, after day, after day. Should ditch an old stickie or something. yawn.........

Too bad we couldnt have saved you the trouble. New sticks of HyperX 3500 will not be CH5 nor probably do 2-2-2. Only TRCD needs to be set to 3.

And maybe Im wrong but I think that vendor that made you buy two sticks and said they are a pair is full of it considering different revisions and volts and everything.

    I had 2x512 3500 (CH5) that ran 235 2-3-3-7 just fine.

But like anything else overclocking wise...luck is a part of it.

I had some of the first HyperX 3500 sticks, and 4 of them were BH5...not a one would even boot at 200 on my old A7N8X board...so I go trid of them...

Wish I still had em now...lol.

i have 2 sticks of KHX3500 which i have never got to run properly on my NF7-S 2.0 and AN50R..

they did 235 cas2 on my IT7 though... and since there wasnt any CH5 back then , they are pretty much guaranteed BH5's

I've got a small computer shop. I stock up on good stuff "for special OC'd Customer rigs" at a premium of course. and whatever Deals i can find. I have to.

I have no problems getting rid of stuff.

And for the probably 20 sticks total of BH-5 have around here Various brands.

Better than investing your money in anything else!!! Bought it for $62 2 weeks ago per stick, now up close to $80 for 256 sticks. Hell of a return.

Wish my stock investments did so good.

GL with that. A friend of mine bought 4 sticks and tested to pick the best 2...ZipZoomFly wouldnt take the ther 2 back because they did spec speeds and timings. He had to sell them off himself.

Not all D328DW-45 relabled chips are Winbond CH-5. Not all D328DW-50 relabled chips are Winbond BH-5. Kingston would never make it so easy, they like confusing people too much

CarpeDiem and to everyone else, nf7-s mobos are picky with ram also hyperX does not work right in nf2 based chipset boards hence why you could not even run stock. did I get lucky my corsair pc3200 value does 220fsb at 2.5-2-2-11 timings. also is 2.5-2-2-11 as good as 2-3-3-11?
