Take note that only small ramsink on Mosfets, @ that kind of CPU load/heat you will be on LN2 and Temps will be much lower.

needs a PCI-e 1x in the top slot or SLI + sound card is not possible, an unneeded downside that other boards don't suffer from.

Should have a PCI-e 1x at the top and a PCI 8x somewhere else incase you want a raid card with single slot WC solutions.

Why would anyone make a board aimed at enthusiasts nowadays with 2 PCI slots just wasting board space.

meh... im not a fan of digital PMWs, i had to exchange my graphicscards 2 tims to get one that doen't makes a high pitched noise when running under load.

But maybe i just had bad luck with digital pmws.

That would be a huge mistake as it would pretty much make 3-way SLI/crossfire with dual slot cards impossible.

First Evga mobo with Intel chipset They understand, that if Intel have SLI support, nForce chipset will lost last advantage

was it just me or did that article say something about an 8 series nVidia chipset?
Another chipset for 775 or godforbid an nVidia chipset on LGA 1366?
I mean, with SLI out of the bag nVIdia would have to actually produce a good performing chipset...can they do it??!

You guys need to stop bashing, Nvidia makes a fine chipset. Sure it's not as well developed as Intel's but Nvidia isn''t intel. End of story.

Anyways, All the X58 boards that have been displayed have been missing the 4/8pin power connector. I wonder why?

Just curious, when you make an inferior chipset and force people into using it due to making SLI needless dependent on it why shouldn't people talk about it in a not so great light?

I have a 790i, its a good chipset but no x48, so even though it isn't bad, if it wasn't for the needless SLI requirement why would anyone use it over x48?

this would so be my next board, BUT the pci-e 1x slot needs to be at top, so you can have sound, or a tv tuner with sli/3xsli board looks great, bad positioning of the expansion slots

are you really going to do triple SLI or Tri-fire though??? I doubt it... if this is true then you do have room for pci-e sound

you are probably right, BUT i think it would be an overall better design if there was a pci-e 1x on top

Yup, unfortunately it is very difficult to do that with 3-way SLI.

If you move all the slots down one, you will not be able to use 3-way SLI in a standard chasis, because a dual slot card will overhang the board.

And because of the CPU socket size, space becomes challenging.

I understand now, because 790i had it like we suggested, which means it would be worthless to have/buy an audio card for most of i7 Core boards...

then others manufactures with the exception of EVGA made a HUGE mistake

Wait, but this is the design many other boards Including your 790i have.

By chance are you not using the highest possible slot for this form factor to allow for your NB position/cooling design?

    Looks promising though!
I'd rather they leave that design as it is and not gay it all up with xtreme green 'n black colors and crappy NB fans.

lol, that's what I was saying; the board looks like a stripped reference board aside from evga colors and stupid NB fan.
Other X58 boards at this stage are incredibly crowded, like gigabyte's which is crammed with caps, ASUS which is stuffed with slots, that 2nd decker pcb and ostensible heatsinking. which just goes to say that this is either an early board or an eerily empty board.

Do you know any details about the fan? It blows air out the side of the fan towards the back of the case. This fan is much better then the fan they used on the 680i/780i/780i FTW/790i.

Yes, the highest slot is not used, with the current layout there is simply no room. Remember that the CPU socket is bigger than the Core2.

Thats definitely worth re engineering the NB cooling then. Remember that most PCI-e 1x sound cards (prettymuch the primary use for that slot) dont go very deep at all. If many boards have similar performance, small things like the ability to have tri SLI along with a creative xfi/asus xonar will effect peoples choices.

Even if they dont have those cards yet it will effect peoples choices, id be willing to bet most the people who bought Nvidia chipset boards dont even have SLI, but like the idea that the upgrade path is available for them.

I meant the fans used since 780i, that blow hot air against the back of your video card's friggin' PCB. If they fix that design flaw, then fabulous. But seriously, cut the 'ULTRA SLI DIGITAL FTW 1337 E-PEEN' branding nomenclature.

I know, and that's what I'm trying to tell you, They fixed it with the 790i SLI FTW, and 790i SLI FTW Digital.
