    aluminum conducts electricity (not well but still) lexan is a type of plastic

    Hobby lexan is very thin as well and you can trim it to shape with scissors and I believe make shapes out of it fairly easily by heating.

    It is fairly strong but obviously not intended to really support weight, I meant that it'd be a easier material for someone to make custom duct work in their case with than sheet aluminum.

    well, i actually have decided to do a little overhaul to the case itself...

    just ordered a few sheets of finished carbon fiber...

    going to remake the the 5.25" bay sides, and the subfloor... maybe i'll re-do the ducting in thin lexan while i'm at it

    Really nice project. Easy, cheap and effective. And now with the painted finish, it even looks great.

    My approach would've looked differently, but more time, money and nerves would've been involved for sure. That's why I think this is a really good approach. Congrats!

    Winter is coming, you should be ducting cold air IN to the case. At the very least let the hot air into your room to warm up your house and save on heating costs.

    the top one is a 40" samsung 1080p lcd - it is run by the 9800GX2 cards in full-time Quad-SLI and connected via HDMI. the bottom two are 22" asus lcds and run off the 8600gt via DVI.

    the first sheet of carbon fiber came...along with the second scythe kama bay cooler & some of the black screws/thumbscrews. still waiting on the other piece of CF for the sub-floor.

    hmmmmm looks nice but i don't like the pattern on the carbon fiber. im trying to decide what to do to the inside of my nzxt alpha. i might just paint it black tho.

    awesome work man! Great original idea. I really like the final painted looks of it, and the carbon fiber is a really nice touch!

    I am a fan of air cooling too, except I run the cold air outside into the comp. Mine is on a benchtable but I have 2 dryer ducts with 240CFM Delta fans on each blowing ice cold air into my CPU heatsink and GPU fan. Got my E8600 up to 5.1 Ghz 1M stable. Just installed and started testing the GPU duct, but I got an old 8800GTS 320 up to 750/1000 (no mods!! stock 575/900). And its not even that cold out yet
