Just been sent a BIOS from ABit that supposedly addresses issues with 4870x2 and 45nm CPUs (including E0s).

Unfortunately, its too big to attach.

Will be testing it this evening. Perhaps support hasn't been completely severed after all

How did you go with your testing ? Did it work ?

More importantly, can you Xfire 2 HD4870x2 ?

BIOS failed to initialise the display again, seems like they are just trying to fob me off

I have emailed them back but hold out very little hope now. The fact that they could/should have easily tested the BIOS before sending it, tells me all I need to know.

been a while since I posted in here, had a few questions.

How does this board get on with the E8400 E0 and Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 Ch Soundcard PCI.

Also, has anyone bought an E8400 from scan.co.uk? Did you get the E0 stepping?
I emailed them and they said they have a high turn around for that chip so the likelihood I get the latest version is high but not guaranteed.

I have the Prelude card... occasionally the sound drops out for a second at random when playing a game... have no idea what is causing it tho... not too fussed about it.

Bios 12 works fine with the 4870x2. It's bios 13 and 14 that seem to have the no display issue. I am using the 4870x2 on this board in the first pcie slot and all is well.

Has anyone had issues with Vmware and VT technology when running BIOS rev14?

I installed rev 14 a while back and even with VT enabled in the BIOS VMWare will not detect that it is enabled. I'm running a Q6700 and I know it has worked in the past.

In bios you must ENABLE: Virtualization Technolgy... Why dont send a mail to ABIT..??

With bios14 after oc my cpu, C1E and EIST are automaticaly off. Can someone check this on beta16 coz i want this options enabled. Now im on bios12 and its work good with my E2160@3ghz.
How much fuctions C1E & EIST can lower temp and energy consumption in idle ?
BTW even on bios14 ram timng are still not correct for example tWTR in bios set on 15 and under windows memset shows 20.

And why in raid0 with 2 samusng 320g F1 i hv so low copy speed 70-80mb/s on big files 4gb+ or maybe its normal its my 1st raid.

Got a bug to report on my one. I just installed mine and the board doesn't get it that EIST or Thermal Controll is on. I already overclocked it with my QX6700 and it worked so far for a while. Now it seems to stay @ 10x Multi + 1.35V :/ any suggestionst?

Quick question. Does anyone know if this motherboard will work with a E8400 that is an E0 stepping. I have seen people with E8400 and E8500 but I am unsure if this board will support E0 versions. Thanks for the help guys.

But send me a bios for Abit IX48 GT3 instead of Abit IX38 Quad-GT, the bios is:

I heard that some people can upgrade Asus x38 to x48 flashing your bios...??

ABIT send me today the CORRECT BIOS for the ABIT IX38 Quad-GT, the bios is:

m704b_15.bin

I can't attach it because is BIG than allowed, but if, someone are interested i can send by email..

I have had this board since release, and it has been my first experience at OC'ing at first I maxed out my p4 in no time and left it alone until recently I got a Q9550 and a better hard drive. I have it OC'ed to 3.7 at stock voltage. The problems I am having is even with active cooling the pmw's are getting too hot and can not get any higher volt. Second It will not read the CPU correctly it says it is cooking at 103c but with realtemp I am seeing idle temp for each cores near 40c. I have Bios version 14, I was thinking of trying 13 to see if temp would get back to normal.
Lastly I can not figure out for the life of me on how to get Raid set up, I have the drivers but It says JMB36x Raid device not found. I want to mirror my old drive then run the new as primary but I am totally lost. Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

Can't install SP2 on vista 64 I get a multiprocessor_config_not_supported error. On vista 32 it works fine, I tried Bios 13 and 14, the 2 that should support my cpu (Q9550) I guess I just have to find another mobo since this one lost support.

Hey, I know there were issues with the IX38 Quad GT and the HD XXXX x2's but those issues were resolved with later beta bios releases. A good place to look is abit.care@HEXUS. That is if it is Motherboard related.
