    Hi guys!

Last night I thought that my vcore in bios was at 1.30 but it wasn't... It was defined at 1.25V!

It ran 10 flawless hours of prime95, no errors what so ever, but now I arrived home and windows had crashed I have Vista SP1 x86 installed and not quite sure why this is happening When I'm at the computer everything is ok...

Could it be the OS? Sometimes I really hate Vista and want to go back to XP Pro SP3... Maybe I get this stupid crashes solved

Now I made some changes in bios. Here's how I have it:

Do you have any suggestions to my Vista crashes?

And how about this bios settings, is it ok or do you suggest something?

Thank you, I had a BSOD with Optimal so went to performance but, my issue might have been as simple as voltage because I think I did end up upping it a tad in the BIOS after that and have been fine ever since but, man I was about ready to throw my through a window when I seen that lol..

@BSRG: What BIOS revision do you have and what CPU?

    I have a Q9450 with 2 x 2GB Corsair Dominator PC2-8500! The bios revision is the latest, 1406!

Made a few changes, because I got errors at prime and memtest:

Turn your gtls to .63 and see if it stops and turn down your vfsb to 1.22 I know not every chip is the same bla bla but, try it. You are having voltage issues I think some,, where along the line. I would try the gtl thing first though as This is prob what your issue is.

When you say glts do you mean CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2) or
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3) or both to 0.63?

Both, Try set memory to 1:1 during your cpu stablizing, after that move to memory oc!

If you are telling him to turn down the PCIE to 1.5 I think it overvolts bad when set like that. Correct me some one if I'm wong there but, I think he is better off leaving it at 1.6 if I am right.

Not entirely sure you are right, but I run mine at 1.6v as we all know the board overvolts/undervolts stuff like mad. 1 would think for a 16 supposed phase it would be set up correctly!

Can't lower my ram voltage like you said PiolhoSM because 2.1 is the default vdimm of these Corsair ram sticks...

Running Prime95 and Memtest for 2 hours now and so far so good (although it seems that Core 1 tests are going very very slowly when compared to the other cpu cores):

    I have a request.

I have asked Leeg if he would try it for me via PM and would like if others would try it for me as well, if not, no sweat. Anyone who has read the last coupla pages have probably noticed I am a bit bewildered with my vdimm,(ram) voltage on my board.

My request is; run 2.04 or 2.06v ram voltage and see if your system becomes Unstable with the P5Q Deluxe with anyone running bios 1406 please. I know this is an odd request and I usually Never ask for favors, but am asking now. Reason being, I can run my ram at 2.1v and pass 200% with Memtest HSI whereas with other bios 2.0/2.02v was max. This is with folks running the same or similar ram to mine, which is the F2-8000CL5d-4GBPQ.

think the board overvolts ram by 0.08 from previous thread work, so you've got 2.202 there BRSG

I've got broadly similar settings, in my sig, but trying .63 GTLs and lower FSB and higher vcore 1.35 in an effort to get the shutdown problem sorted, okay so far, still despondant that this cpu needs more volts than most, and seems to hit the wall @ 3.6 max o/c, but at least its stable 24/7 3.6 with speedstep, so happy

i can run 2x2GB Gskill Pi PC-8000 (1000mhz) CL5 (default vcore 2.0/2.1v) at 1036mhz with 1.98 Vcore, that's why i recommend you to lower the memory voltage.

I've got broadly similar settings, in my sig, but trying .63 GTLs and lower FSB and higher vcore 1.35 in an effort to get the shutdown problem sorted, okay so far, still despondant that this cpu needs more volts than most, and seems to hit the wall @ 3.6 max o/c, but at least its stable 24/7 3.6 with speedstep, so happy

    back to testing
Humm.... Not sure if my board overvolts so I have to believe you on that one! One thing I know for sure, at 2.1V DRAM Voltage I got errors at Memtest and that's why I pushed it a little bit higher

Tomorrow I'll try to lower it to 2.12V to see if it remains error free at Memtest!

Umm I was just replying to BRSG, and don't rely on me, I'm just quoting what I read here ealrier in the thread regarding an earlier bios. No clue as to if the board overvolts have been fixed in 1406 bios. I know the Corsairs (from this and other threads) are quite tolerant on voltage

Okay, had an interesting day; tried reduced Vcore volts but failed prime after a couple of hours.

What I have now is a good 6hr test on prime of 1.35volts and 0.63 (both) GTLs. I know it seems a lot but this chip has always needed 1.34375volts for 3.6 stable

    I'm running high 60s deg c with first core max 72deg C
This is in real temp with the intel recommended Tgmax

    I'm actually very happy as:

    1. temp maxes out there
    2. 3.6 is fully stable
    3. I have working speed step
    and
    4. I can shutdown from software

Kudos to the board and highroller; my shutdown problem disappeared when I reduced the GTLs and increased core

I am now using performance for cpu margin

Next stop is Vistax64 reload for ACHI mode and then RAM tweak (most left at default)

Yeap, even you got 4GB of ram 1.3NB is pretty high value, i would try drop it mid 1.2 if that makes you feel fine!

    Look what i found....
I want PL 7 on my DDR..
    So.
    NB 1.30V = no Boot
    1.32V = BSOD
    1.34V = BSOD
    1.36V = STABLE

Then i thought.... Why NOT try Lower Voltages...

    NB 1.28V = BSOD
    NB 1.26V = STABLE

OMG did i miss something HERE ?
i think its BIOS related problem and NBV 1.28 - 1.34 is messed by BIOS....

Now i can run perfectly stable without the fear of frying NB....
    Thanks.....

@BRSG: Looks from your last post like you just left your gtls where they were and went with it. lol. You are at 3.6GHZ,,

    CPU Voltage: 1.33125
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): 0.67 try .63
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): 0.67 try .63
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.56
FSB Termination Voltage: 1.24 try 1.22 or lower try 1.18 or 1.20
    DRAM Voltage: 2.14
NB Voltage: 1.30 Lower this to 1.28
    NB GTL Reference: AUTO
    SBridge Voltage: 1.20
    PCIE SATA Voltage: 1.60

    Try that mate,

Ok... 11 hours completely stable cpu running prime95 with SmallFFT's! With MemTest for windows also zero errors with these settings:

    AI Overclock tuner: Manual
    CPU Ratio Setting: 8.0
FSB Strap to North Bridge: 333
    FSB Frequency: 450
    PCI-E Frequency: 101
    DRAM Frequency: 1081
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A1: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A2: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B1: AUTO
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B2: AUTO
DRAM Timing Control: Manual (timings: 5-5-5-15)

    CPU Voltage: 1.33125
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): 0.67
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): 0.67
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.56
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.24
    DRAM Voltage: 2.14
    NB Voltage: 1.30
    NB GTL Reference: AUTO
    SBridge Voltage: 1.20
    PCIE SATA Voltage: 1.60

@truehighroller: For now I'll let it running folding@home and later tonight when I get home let's see if windows crashed or not! If not I'll try to reduce DRAM Voltage to 2.12 and will run prime 95 again, but this time with blend test!

After that, and if all goes well after 2/3 days, I'll try your suggestions
