    Why in gods name would anyone need 6 memory slots? 8GB+ with 4 memory slots not enough or something?

    It's triple channel so 4 slots wouldn't work. It is kind of a pain though because 6 gigs may not be enough, but 12 gigs is too much and more expensive.

    The whole point of this is triple channel, and you don't get that unless the slots filled are a multiple of 3, i.e. not 4... duh.

    Triple channel. I suppose they could have 3 in triple channel, and one a different color--aren't they doing that on lower end boards? Lynnfield, I think. Or is Lynnfield dual channel, still?

    It would be the same thing as running a 2x2GB kit and a 2x1GB kit together in a current motherboard...
