Haha, I appreciate the comparison...but I am no where near the same class as Martin. I could fit my whole body in those shoes and still be able to strech out...those are extremely large shoes.

Yeah well, I am sure Martin would be the first one to tell you that as long as your trying to contribute and being the best Skinnee you can...that's good enough.

Besides, he is going to be like an old quarterback...retire 10 times but always coming back for one more season =)

no worries...didn't take it as a slight at all. I was more poking some fun than anything else. No worries though...no ego here, just a slice of sarcasm now and then.

    skinnee--

Just got an email from China--the final authorization production samples for the Typhoon III will be shipping Friday!

If they are OK Brian will sign off on them and the first production run starts. I was not clear on how many samples would be shipping but if there are enough for the lab and Martin I will shoot one your way as well. May not have retail packaging in place by then but I am guessing that won't matter to you. =)

    Good news!

If the retail packaging has any specific setup instructions it would be nice as I like to test first with the "as shipped" or "per instructions" method. But other than that, no big deal on retail packaging. If there is only enough samples for the lab and Martin, I can wait, not a problem.

    question

    1. Will it drop my current setup D655 set at max
    2. Will it be softer is the noise department
    3. Is it worth it over a stock D655

    1. Yes, it will produce more flow. How much more depends on your system resistance curve, on which you can overlay the pump curve of post #1, to find the new operating point. For an estimate try Martin's flow estimator.

    2. It will reduce vibration transmitted to the case by the pump. Airborne noise from the pump alone is pretty quiet.

    3. It's worth it at twice the price

Can you make these with two outlets that are 180 degrees opposed?

That's an interesting idea, does that give you a tube routing advantage?

I could do it, but it'd mean a complete redesign of the volute.

Yes, and also a pressure/flow advantage as the single outlet is wasting quite a bit of pumping power due to the distance that most of the fluid has to travel once it has exited the impeller anywhere other than nearly directly in line with the single outlet.

I have one, waiting on the Typhoon III and the Acetal top from Koolance.

I'm going to start the tests next week on the Detroit Thermo top, I owe Detroit AC some numbers. Some flow meter connection fittings presented a delay that I did not account for.

Sorry, I've got it listed now. You can search for the store Detroit Thermo, or me Climatepro. I'd link to it, but i think there is a policy against ebay links?

edit: plenty of stock on hand now

I wanted to pick one up but I couldn't wait so I grabbed an EK X-TOP. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread though.
