That's up to Ket. I have had two crap 'open box' mobos (both ASUS, lol) & one bad Powercolor gfx card back in 9700 days before I stopped buying anything 'open box' that had IC's. Meanwhile several of my friends have been 100% successful with 'em. I'm inclined to think that if we get enough donations together we should do everything possible to ensure his board will have no issues, but if we fall short then it may have to be an open box, etc.

Possible option? Ket, is there a dealer over there that would let us send the funds individually or another way to donate straight to you? (thus eliminating me from the paranoia end of the equation) If not I will simply post who gave what, along with tracking info both inbound to me and outbound to you.

Usually someone returns it because they are unhappy and it can't be sold as new.. so open box pretty much means "As is and tested"

RMA stuff can end up as open box items if the reason for rma didn't specify damage or a broken part. I have had this board and been benching it since June. Some of the people on my team have rma'd a few of the rev.1 boards because of weak performance. Hell I've RMA'd poor clocking cpus to the egg and only supplied the reason "not satisfied". That's just a heads up that it could be hit or miss. I'm sure there are plenty of great open box items as well.

The cheapest dealer I have been able to find in the UK that sells the TPower is here But even before postage it comes to roughly $200. Weather you guys go for an open box TPower or new, is entirely your choice, you guys are the ones donating

The only manufacturer I ever done a direct RMA with for a mobo was DFI, and I can tell you they sucked bigtime, took them like 6 weeks and even when I got the board back it was flaky as all hell.

newegg does NOT test anything they just list it as open box and re sell it, call them and ask, thats what I just did, I'd rather just get the new one to eliminate any bull.

Agreed.. and since I have some Federal tax stamps and may get noticed shipping 'computer parts' overseas it would at least be nice if we should be able to expect said part in question to actually work

Theres our answer then, newegg doesnt test anything so safest bet is to buy new. Also, if the board is sent as a "gift", there shouldn't be any tax

Just had an idea, as a little incentive so people know it's not just a tweaked out, beefed up TPower mBIOS they will get out of me obtaining a TPower mobo, to the person who donates the most I shall ship them a 2x1GB kit of Patriot Extreme Performance EPP PC6400, stock timings of 4-4-4-12 and will do 1000MHz+ @ 5-5-5-15 2.2v. This kit retails on the egg for $43 before shipping. Do be aware though that this kit is incompatible on the P5Q series mobos. I've run the kit on a 975X (chipset I tested the kit to 1000MHz+ on), NF570 and NF590 chipsets (only quick tests on these chipsets, just plonked in to see if the boards in question would POST with the kit) without a problem.

No worries, Ket... the stamps in question have nothing to do with sales tax.

Thats a little cheaper than what I found, but still comes to about $200 before postage So grabbing a TPower off the egg then doing the shipping stuff still comes out a bit cheaper. Thanks for the support whodie

Getting closer guys! We are up to $100 now

We are over halfway there already! Alrighty, gone through getting names and donations so people can see in one glance who currently has the Patriot Extreme Performance 2x1GB kit within their sights! Remember guys, the kit goes to who donates the most! In the case of 2 people donating the same amount the person who offered the donation first takes priority.

    1. Radaja $30 - You curently have the Patriot kit within your sights!
    2. Whodie $25
    3. Truehighroller $20
    4. Philbrown23 $15
    5. Marcam923 $10
    6. Thehinge1 $10
    7. Firebane - Donation pending next Friday

    Total so far: $110!
    To Go: $60

Why don't just sell the patriot kit to raise the funds? May be helpfull even despite its a low value added.

I'm waiting my TPower I45 that was bought at ZZF by a friend, but have no estimate time to it reachs me in Brazil, i wish it could be here next week and if so, maybe i could help support the donation, the only problem is if the customs here tax me for the motherboard importation, its a 60% tax and no way i could help anymore, i'll keep u guys posted about it.

I thought of that, then figured offering them as sorta like a reward for the biggest donator might be a better idea. You never know, 2 donators might start "fighting" over the memory kit

You might be right, but its a $50 memo kit, its real an incentive?
Anyway in both ways i think it will reach the goal soon, and hope mine arrives asap and with no taxes, so i will add some cash here too

In a way yeah. Even if 2 donators "fight" over the kit and the final donation ends up being $60, effectively the donator only gave $10. See where this is heading now?
