What a great idea!! Why bother cutting neoprene of pipe tape....this stuff seals every nook and cranny!!

Wow, nice idea... Now I can RMA without anything looking suss if I break my board... JOKE
Still a nice idea, I might have to steal it![]()
I'm using two layers of 10 mm neoprene and it's also fulfill the tasks. Socket is a little frosty after bench on DI, but it isn't a problem for me. Frost isn't dangerous to electronics, but when it turns to water, it can be seriously dangerous. So the best way for me is keeping pot frozen all the timeBut maybe it's a better method

ASUS r&d has been using a similar "clay" method for some time now.
I laughed when I first saw a pic from asus r&d guy because they were using multi colored play doh or something..looked funny like a kids project or something, but still effective. I need to dig up that pic
To be honest you guys dont even need nail polish or anything at all around socket really if you have enough compression on your foam gaskets and they are well designed to fit in around the socket components properly. I never use polish anymore because I hate trashing mobos. Vaery rarely kill boards from condensation around socket and I test ALOT. Just keep popping off and re-using diff "dry" foam doughnuts I have for diff boards.
ive been using these erasers from my first sub zero session on (i.e. for about 5 months now). Works great! Its cheap, reusable, and perfectly insulates.
I stole the idea from Sam/Tapakah and Mr.Lobber
just bought like 2 cases of this stuff!!
Bought 15 pieces of kneaded rubber and tried it out.
But, I'm not happy with the result.
It looks like loc.o's stuff is more soft.
Mine is pretty hard to squeeze.
Any hints for me?

Tried to apply it like loc.o, but looks horribly!

Loc.o just tried it last nite - worked a treat on the Rampage Extreme. Cheers![]()
@loc.o
Only one (!) store around here had kneaded rubber.
Yours I cant get here.![]()
try kneading it more? put some energy and warmth to it. microwave it?![]()
Damn!
How big was your rubber-block?!
My girl told me to do it as you did, but I was smarter.
*NOT !*![]()
Is this the same as blu-tak? Or other stuff similar to blu-tak?
I have armaflex and stuff already. but this seems so convenient, cheap and clean!

Nice way to insulate.
I use this stuff, it works well, goes on like tape, but it's kind of thin so you have to build up layers, or use it together with neoprene:

Plan.B, is it OK to remove after?
Vmods - what can possibly go wrong? ©
yes, it can be removed. get it to room temp, or warmer, and slowly work it off. you'll probably have to cut it or get under an edge to get it started

I found Loc.o's kneading rubber in the US. I do not know how many they would have or how reputable the site is but they seem like they are still active.

I just bought my case of ebay cheap but before I go sub zero with this stuff, can someone confirm weather or not they use grease in the socket?? it looks like loc.o does not so I just wanna know, if I dont have to have it in the socket I'd prefer not to tbh.
I tried loc.o's method without any grease in the socket.
No condensation formed up yet.![]()
