No, I probably won't reseat the HS system on this one as it's a family build and those pushpins scare me. Maybe if i get bored. I was just refering to the low density fin design of teh NB. As of this afternoon I'm going to try and concentrate on my own rig.

Subscribing to this thread, The Biostar is on the way. Having OC'd on Nvidia chipsets for the past year and a half, I am gonna have to learn Intel again. I am sure this htread will help.

Now the NB cooler...sigh. It gets really hot and its designed for passive cooling so doesn't respond well to active cooling. If it weren't for the heatpipe i'd look into replacing that.
Really, at what voltage should I have to start worrying about NB temps? Should I invest in aftermarket cooling for the NB and mosfets, like that thermalright hr-05 and hr-09? Should I just reseat the heatsinks with some mx-2 and strap a 40mmx10mm fan to the NB sink?

God I cant stand it... this Tpower seems to be sex on legs... come on asus sort the P5Q series out so I can say its sex on legs as well not that 550FSB+ is anything to sniff at on a P5Q board.. I just want asus to sort the BIOS out proper.

    Ket,
I'm counting on you as I have both boards... If I was independently wealthy I'd start up a super-secret BIOS creation/dissection/modding lab with a badass compiler.

The Biostar boots every time without fail and has NEVER spontaneously rebooted. The first P5Q-E did not always boot and the second one is a question mark.

ETA: How hard would it be to change the huge Vcore granularity issue? If we could at least do 0.0250v steps instead of 0.05v steps, my E8400 would be on the TPower in a heartbeat!

Sorry guys theres no TPower mBIOS coming at this time That might change if I go buy a TPower.. (or somebody(s) donates me one ) I only like to mod BIOS code for boards I own or are in the same series, like the P5Q Series.

OK guys, it is time for us to step up to the plate here... I will donate the first $10 (more if I can get some more $ soon), and we need to get Ket a TPower. I'll even volunteer to get one from the egg & ship it to him, will pay the freight too if we can get it shipped for like $20-$25US.

    Who is with me?
    Chris

Thats mighty generous of you starting a donation fund The only reason I mod BIOS code for boards I have is simply so I can avoid releasing code that fubars the board, I can test it myself

Thank you, Ket. There are two main reasons I would like to see this happen:
1: I'm grateful for you helping my first P5Q-E kick ass before it totally flaked out and became fsb handicapped/downright unstable.
2: I'm genuinely curious to see what you can do with an I45. I would love the I45 to absolutely destroy all high-dollar mobos out there.

Now I just need to raise roughly $170 more to get you a board...

    Thanks Phil!

I'm thinking once we know we are GTG (or at least close), I'll give everyone my info to make it happen!

Is there somewhere we could make a thread for this? Otherwise I fear we might end up hijacking this one

Good point, I certainly do NOT want to cause any crap!

Ace - do you want me to make a new thread for this worthy cause?

If he does not reply in the next few hours I'll just make a new thread, unless you just want to go ahead and do it, Ket. I'd go ahead now but am not quite sure where (general Intel?) to do it, especially since I lost my old 'thehinge' handle hence 'thehinge1' and look like a noob to the uninitiated.

I was wondering where we could make a thread too.. I may of been a member for 4 years but am a relative n00b to the forums as usually I just made a flyby visit dropping my goodies enroute . Perhaps it will provide a little motivation for some, but I am actually looking at the TPower BIOS right now

The southbridge is hotter than northbridge. is that normal?
anyone using this mothernoard with lian li casing? the backplate doesn't align with the IO ports. if it were to align, the motherboards mounting hole will not be aligned with the stud on my casing, which is a PC-G7

Cant comment on your install issues but dont worry about the northbridge. Its normal for it to be hotter than a southbridge.

Opps my bad, late here read things the wrong way round Usually a hot SB can easily be resolved by lapping the SB HS base and apply some decent TIM like AS ceramique

Yep, but like I said, if he laps the SB HS and uses some decent TIM those temps will come right down had to do it on my P5Q Pro, after the SB barely got warm to the touch even under load with 1.3v.

what is CPU Smart Fan Disabled(default)/Auto?
my E8400 HSF is the stock intel 4pin connector type (i assume it is PWM).
Disabled = fan running at max speed? Auto = variable speed?

besides that, evrytime the pc starts, the pc shows this:
    Marvell 88se61xx RAID adaptor
    initializing...
    adaptor 1
disk information....blah blah hard disk not found...
    ..then, booting up windows.
i'm not running a RAID setup. i have only 1 hdd. what's up with the RAID marvell detection?
