Help me get Ket a Biostar TPower I45!

OK guys, you stepped up to the plate here...
Ket is getting his TPower I45...
There are two main reasons I thought of this:
1: I'm grateful for Ket helping my first P5Q-E kick ass before it totally flaked out and became fsb handicapped/downright unstable.
2: I'm genuinely curious to see what he can do with an I45. I would love the I45 to absolutely destroy all the high-dollar mobos out there.

Update regarding Ace's board FS as of 11:58PM EDT on 7 October 2008:
Alright folks, here's the latest... Ace is trying to get some affairs in order and needed to sell the board quickly.

Based on my belief in the general goodwill of humanity: I paid the entire $140 to Ace (USPS gave him bad shipping info, we originally expected $135USDtotal) to get this thing headed off to Ket ASAP, thus putting myself $115 'in the hole'.

Final standings of donations received for Ket's TPower:
$15 'pending' from Slovnaft once PayPal clears it.
    $38 from radaja
    $25 from whodie
    $17 from philbrown23
    $15 from Marcam923
$25 Canuck bucks from Logger which worked out to $20.89USD
$20 from walternowi, who generously offered to cover my original $10 pledged to start this project

    WE GOT IT DONE!!!

We ended up at $145.73USD net after paypal 'fees' which is actually $5.73 over the board's cost, so per walternowi Tiberius the Husky is getting a big box of biscuits for being so patient while we got together and made this work. I'll get a pic of him enjoying his new treats tomorrow & post it right here!

The board has already shipped by Ace heading straight to Ket via USPS, which Ace addresses himself on post#142 in this thread.

I sincerely thank you all for your support in this good cause.

... and to anyone who doubted my intentions: are you still wondering?

Looky below at what radaja is getting courtesy of Ket...

    From Ket on 10/5:

This kit retails on the egg for $43 before shipping. Do be aware though that this kit is incompatible on the P5Q series mobos. I've run the kit on a 975X (chipset I tested the kit to 1000MHz+ on), NF570 and NF590 chipsets (only quick tests on these chipsets, just plonked in to see if the boards in question would POST with the kit) without a problem.

I'm already looking at the TPower 45 BIOS. Naturally I won't release it until I know its a "good" BIOS, and that will happen A: When I'm finished doing preliminary tweaks & improvements, and B: when\if a TPower gets to my door (curtosy of all the folk who chip in ) to test the modded code is ok

Its amazing to think we are already up to like $55!

The bios isn't bad, it produces desired results.

If I could request a change it would be finer grain vmem and vcore.

    And Pentium 500 - 600 support.

As good as the BIOS may be, it could be better

Oh sure, I agree. Too bad you can't just sell these modded bios for a small fee. I'd pay five bucks for pentium support.

One of the changes in the Tpower45 AA710 mBIOS will be P4 support in fact, I've already added it

Finer vcore and vmem options might be a bit tricky, but with a tad of luck it could be as simple as just adding the extra options to the list - then hoping they work

It seems a sad commentary on the current and general state of motherboard technology when someone with the right software tools and inclination can help serve the user community in such a fashion that he or she is seen as some sort of supreme wizard and better equipped and responsive to their needs than the manufacturers themselves.

Hey, I own an Acme P-Uber-N85, how about we all chip in and buy xxxx a new board because of the great things he has done for the TPower boards? I am willing to pony up or at least we can donate him some time and money for his efforts! At the very least, let's start a fund of some kind!

[1 month later] Hey, lets all get together and get xxxx a new Acme Turbo-5CE for the great work and service to the Acme P-Uber-N85 folks! I bet he can get our boards back in line and working the way they should!

    Sad, very sad....

People must really want a modded TPower BIOS to be at $65 already! You have my word guys I shall do all I can for the TPower BIOS. Been looking at AA710 for a few hours now, its very comprehensive, have to applaud biostar for that

We know companies, release products, then slowly make changes and improvements. Some of us just do not wanna wait until there are better products out before we get to enjoy our current ones.

Plus if Ket likes doing this and is good at it, where is the harm? He gets a motherboard, and makes a great bios for the community?

Well said. After spending a fair sum for my last ASUS setup, I was supremely disappointed in their 'fixes' that borked the board. Therefore I see no harm in kicking a few bucks & a little effort toward Ket based on what he did with the P5Q bios.

Well said Marcam. I don't think FinnEire grasps the concept that after a certain point, mainboard manufacturers simply don't care about a product anymore and their on to their next product ready to gouge fresh money out of buyers, where people like me on the other hand, will fix and improve everything possible within our abilities to make that product even better.

    Thanks guys.
Exactly! Geez we see this with freaking companies all the time, can anyone say 9800GX2...

But yet I hear rumors sturring of when a 280GX2 will come out. I think some people are just gluttons for punishment.

I have not used the Tpower yet, a few of my friends have, they said the bios was pretty good, but we all know pretty much every bios could use a good tweak or two.

I am all for a better bios to ease my switch from green to red.

I think you missed the point...the manufacturers need to get their asses in gear.

Also, while I give total kudos to Ket for his time, knowledge and energy, we shouldn't be at the point where we are influencing someone with gifts and money to switch to some different board to make improvements etc.

These manufacturers make BIG bucks off all of us and they could easily hire the likes of Ket if they wanted to. There must be thousands and thousands of people in Taiwan with the aptitude to do the very same as he.

Also, where does it end? Would you be happy ponying up your $$$ only to see some other group pull him away a few weeks later with offers of a board or hardware he is particularly interested in or lusting after?

Like I said, sad, very sad....

I think we all see the point, but usually when I disagree with something I just refrain from posting so as to not cause an issue.

The manufacturers will not change. If Ket writes one or two or more good bios, that is worth the effort here, and I only hope he goes and writes more bios for other boards.

Ket is willing and able, and I do not see manufacturers outsourcing their bios, that would make them look like fools.

Back to the topic at hand!! I think instead of lookeing at what the manufacturer's should do, we should be applauding Ket for his willingness to do this. Yeah sure we will pony the money for the board. But their is his time, his installation time etc...

Hopefully we can get the money together, and in advance Ket thanks for your efforts.

I do not lust after anything, nor do I abandon what I start. For proof of that just look at how long I worked on a Xpertvision X1950Pro BIOS that actually made the card work properly, and not only that but the end result was a highly optimised finely tuned BIOS that made the Xpertvision X1950Pro perform up to 30% better with AA and AF enabled. Another example is the P5Q Series, I have not given up on that either.

Bottom line: whatever I start I see through to the end.

There may well be people in such places as Taiwan who possess the skills I do and better even, but at the end of the day how many of them do you see doing what I'm doing? I'd wager none.

But as Marcam said, back on topic folks

I'd take that bet, there are not many out there looking to help others but receive minimal in return.
