Well, I was looking at this one, but I see someone has jumped on it now. Not sure how high I'd be willing to go though, I really want something that could fit in a 1u and still manage to be quiet, plus the IPMI would always be fun to play with... but I'm a cheapskate as always

Too much, let it go and that board does the same as the Intels I can get for $20.00..

Yeah, I would say $200 would be my absolute max, which has already passed.

So what you think about the results of that other auction? Interesting to see that winner had supposedly done previous business with the seller...

That is one thing the X6DLP-EG2 has going for it, it is ATX not E-ATX like the Intel Board. (That and the extra PCI-X Slot)

I just wish we had a better source for the X6DLP-EG2 boards, I'd replace my Intel ones in a heartbeat.

EDIT: Just noticed something, the X6DLP-EG2 uses the ICS9DB108BFT clock generator chip.... wonder if its supported in clock gen?

i have a gigabyte gf8600gt silent that i'm gonna stick in this case to keep it quiet but powerful. it's also nice because it doesn't need the 6 pin aux to run (doesn't even have the connector on it!).

i'll probably post some pics of my sammy setup this weekend... i'm excited, this is my first dp build ever!

oh yeah, about the pin mod, mm posted a pic that looks like it should work. s0lid posted one, but it didn't seem to align properly with what i was reading in the intel docs... i'll be doing some more reading on this to figure it out before i actually try anything, but the general consensus is that LHL = 200 fsb, which is what we want. since the sossaman specs never listed any other possible fsb, it may just 'assume' 166, though that would be bad practice...
Let me know what you find out regarding the FSB mod, I'd love to get them working at FSB200 (of course, I still need to receive the mobo first )

Considering he picked both those(well, he added 4gb to that second one) up for less than $200 he'll come out on top either way. As I suspected, those kits are the same exact ones I watched go by two months ago. Here and here are the original listings, still kicking myself for not sending an email instead of internal ebay message that the seller never checks, or just straight up using the offer button...

Yeah, and the thing is I had tried sending the seller a message about bargaining for the whole 4 board lot, and after seeing that one go for such a price I realized just how possible it would've been to get them all for $500-600.

Alright guys, got the X6DLP-EG2 today. I'll give it a go here shortly. Although, it looks like someone de-soldered the 2nd pci-x slot! Yes, very odd and i'm not holding my breath on the board actually working.

These heatsinks are cute. Mobo's looking good, I'd have preferred that to the Intel eATX too.. oh well.

I'm not to keen on the Dynatron ones thou. I busted one sink already. You can kinda tell on the left sink how it looks like its setting funny.

I just wish my board had the 2nd pci-x slot.

+1 for prefering a relatively standard ATX board over an eATX one. Makes cases a LOT easier to buy (and I like running everything in cases, makes the room tidier).

I wonder if we'd be able to find a fairly cheap supplier of those boards, I'd be willing to pay up to about $40 more (so about US$60 total) just 'cause of the money I'd save with a cheap ATX case over an eATX.

here's a pic of my build so far:

the fan on the left is very quiet and low power, but something to keep the air moving so the gf8600gt doesn't cook the mobo.
hdd on the right is a 320gb 2.5" wd.
i might add some front usb ports though it'll require taking a dremel to the faceplate... i have a cheapo usb sound card and my wireless keyboard/mouse that will be taking the two ports in the back.
i won't be adding an optical drive since i have a usb cdrw and i mainly only use cds for os loads anyway.
i'm waiting on a copy of w2k3ent through msnaa though i may load wxp in the mean time.
    pic aint loading

Seems to be showing up for me...

How's the noise on the 1u overall? I've been looking into getting one or a few of those half depth Supermicro ones, as I'll still be on the move between school and internships/co-ops for the next few years, so I like the idea of the half depth ones not taking up much space. I figure if I could fit one or both of my Athlon X2s into a 1u they probably wouldn't have to be too loud, but I've also got this coming on the way

orbitmicro.com carries all sorts of riser cards. Even an 8x to 16x riser card.

With your pic, you can see that my board is missing the 2nd PCI-X slot.
