So I just did some runs with the 8500 chip using my good ole' Infinity cooler Best PI times ive ever gotten with it so far however I think the voltage can come down abit I know I can do atleast 5-5.3 ghz however the 680i doesnt like 500+ fsb so Ill wait for the new boards I got coming in (shown below in sig) and my ln2/DICE pot.

the Q819 batch is what i just got in my RMA. it runs cooler than my previous E8400... i can only get mine upto 4.0 stable but i think my lack of knowledge and know how with my board is holding me bac
    k. plus my mem ddr2 800.. its rock stable at 4.0im sure you can get higher with it.. so with itbeing Q817 batch its not the E0 stepping so thats going against it there.... but for $145 that is sweet.

I'm looking for a 4.0GHz chip with resonable volts. It will be air cooled so stellar clocks are not to important. My son needs a new rig and this chip comes at the right time. As long as it will hit 4.0 I'll be happy.
Think I'll pull the trigger on this chip

yes it shouldnt have a problem hitting 4.0ghz. just be carefull and not over juice it. take it up little at a time to get the lowest volts to run at 4.0
i was running every day at 3.6ghz. but with my new board and my new RMA'd CPU i got it running real nice at 3.83ghz no problem i would have left it
@ 4.0 but like i said my volts were to high for me....

    iknow guys not to xtreme....lol
got a Q9550 E0 stepping in the works that i am gonna go crazy with...

Yeah, I think 4.0GHz is reasonable to achive around 1.3-1.35V with that FPO

Just to be sure I have the correct setting for my E8400. In Coretemp 0.99.3 -> settings -> Tjunction Max offset I need to put -5C right?

and in Realtemp you don't need to adjust anything right?

99.3 Sets 100oC which is correct for the 8400 so no offset needed.

    Yes, no worries!
It has been discussed over a thousand times, but then again!
You can safely give 1.400V to the CPU from the BIOS! Which actually will be lower than 1.400V because of vdrop, as you know.
Well, of course, you need a proper (air) cooling solution, which is almost everything but the stock cooler, and you'll be fine.

    finished building e8400 rig

    E8400 E0 /Q827A345/ S-SPEC:SLB9J/ Pack date: 08/14/08

I put it in a Maximus Formula on AIR Xigmatek s1283 (i hate pushpins)
1.26V @ stock in bios and CPUz

I tried to set the FSB to 450 but failed to get the resulting Rated-FSB below 1700Mhz.

Dont know why, nbstrap can be set on 200,266,333,400 and the higher this is set the smaller the mem jumps will be when oc-ing, but it does not manipulate the rated FSB strangely enough, maybe i've bin on AMD to long .

Results so far: (finished last night 04:50)
after 4 Hours of Orthos "small fft" cpu stresstest cpu is 38 degrees celsius. (still running)

It is working at +-3.870Mhz, +-1780Mhz Rated FSB, stock voltage (auto)
    (430*9, nbstrap 400, stable for 4+ hours)

voltage reads 1.268 in CPUZ I think this is good

Can anybody help me go higher without this ridiculus high Rated FSB?

p.s It is flying in Vista, everything is instant, only user exp.index gives 5.9 for everything but calculations, wich is 5.8 WTF. (no difference 3Ghz or 3.9Ghz)

I've read that you almost have to have a Quad to get the 5.9.

Finally got my p5k-e for my e8400, will post some results tomorrow.
