    p5n32-e q9550

Any tips for getting a q9550 overclocked on this board. It seems to not want to take anything off "auto" or it will not post. I just upgraded from a e6600 that overclocked pretty good on the older BIOS revisions but only decent on the newer ones (needed for the q9550). BIOS 1503. Running 350 * 8.5 right now.

These settings worked on my Striker board, though with the latest biosses 45nm Quad overclocking was pretty poor...booting fine but very unstable in windows... sad to say but these are not the boards to be using a quad CPU on...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Will just about any Abit/DFI/Asus/Gigabyte/MSI P35 board do better? I might be able to swing a board but already shouldn't have purchased the processor I say $125 tops with whats local at Fry's.

BTW whats the earliest BIOS that runs the Quad 45nm chips? It wouldn't do half multipliers on 1302 (what i had before updating) so when it did boot it was like 2Ghz. At least I'm getting stable stock speed now

Yep mate, any decent P35 mobo will clock that quad better than the 680 chipset from Nvidia... and will be more reliable in the long run too...

    I loved my Asus P5K Dlx, gigabyte P35 DS4...

think this MSI will do nicely : http://shop4.frys.com/product/564764...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Or at the Egg they got these Open box mobo's :

    P5K Premium : P5K Premium

P5K Dlx, DFI P35, all around ya budget mate

I was under the impression that the 680i chipset didnt "officially" support 45nm quads.....well according to Intel anyways?

Well that's true, but they work fine at stock speeds on my Striker but once you start to OC you run into trouble. Same with P45, Asus labels the boxes with 1600FSB while Intel tech sheet only warrant 1333 speeds...

The OP better avoid headaches and buy another board...to clock that quad

Didn't even try just set to 400FSB 1.325v and its up and running stable. Don't have time to tweak right now.
