you need the newest Prime 95 to stress all the 4 cores. Orthos will stress just 2 cores.

Anyway, nice OC and high FSB for a 45nm quad.

what Vcore you gave to that chip for 3.8 ?
    mine 9450 does 3.8 with 1.39V
i would like to test more my chip but to afraid as everybody says no more than 1.4Vcore

not exactly true. you can run 2 instances of orthos, and then in task manager change the affinity of each instance to 2 cores. That way you can stress all cores

Never underestimate the power of the TR2. Several builds I did, most used the TR2, I used one for a little over a year and in total I think I used about 4 in 6 builds.

A Quad Core at 4.10ghz, certainly consumes a lot of power and look at it, it can handle it.

Good results, although the temps are a little too high IMO, maybe if you use a HSF with a 120mm fan, the temps would be about 5c to 10c lower?

Agreed. Try cutting that back just 5mhz on the fsb to 460 and see how low you can go with the vcore.

Hi, just got my new rig a few days ago, its an Antec Twelve Hundred, Q9550 C1 with Intel Boxed Cooler (40c 1.0v) ASUS P5E3 Deluxe 38, 4GB Corsair TWIN3X 1800MHz C7 and a Thermaltake 1200W!

I had an ASUS Maximus Formula X38 with a Q6600 G0 before, i got it to 3.6 stable easy. But it was a while ago so i would like some help with overclocking the new rig.

So, what i got from this Thread is that i need ~1.3v to get to 3.6GHz?

And my memory needs 450 FSB to get to 1800MHz, so 8x Multiplier x 450 FSB = 3600MHz, im running 450FSB now but 6x Multiplier 2700MHz, 1.2v CPU = 1800MHz memory, (99924) tho, its suppose to be 77720 something

So i need help with the voltages i guess.. i know multiplier, fsb, cpu voltage, but not NB/SB voltages and so on?

1.440 does seem alittle xtreme for that clock.

Sadly, my C1 9550 needs too 1.3V for 3.6. Thats not problem on my situation becouse i got pretty good airflow on my Antec, even 4Ghz 1.42V goes 50-60 temps (prime95/largeft) But it still creeping me up, becouse i see many doing these clocks whit much lower volts ing intel

Yeah Grnfinger, you're right around at where mine run for 460 fsb and that's good enough for me. Maybe when I get my q9650 next week I'll see how far I can push that.

I'm still trying for the elusive 4.0GHz but the gain is very little for the effort involved.

Grnfinger: okey, i asked that becouse i run 3,9Ghz nearly same volts on my P5Q-E! (1.39 Load) Hmm i still need figure best GTL options for this.

    VID: 1.2500 !!

    CPU: 1.39V
    vFSB: 1.34V
    vPLL: 1.56V
vNB: 1.44V (This is what i need to workout)
    vRAM: 1.82 (oh yes )
    vSB: 1.30V

    GTL's

    GTL 0/2: 0.640
    GTL 1/3: 0.645
    NB GTL: AUTO

Dont know much about these GTL settings yet but better start study already

I've been tweaking my q9550 also lately and have been using IBT to stress it. I am running a SFF case on aircooling so temps are pretty high for even stock applications. I am running a DFI JR p45 board so the bios options might be a little wonky compared to ASUS or whatever. However I have been stable at 3.4ghz with a 400fsb. I still want to push it, but my temps aren't so cool. Gonna do liquid this winter.

    Cpu VID - 1.15
    vcore - idle: 1.25 load: 1.21
Dram - 2.050 (I wanna lower this.. still need to test)
    SB core - 1.55
    NB Core - 1.2575
    Cpu VTT - 1.33

I'm always using maximum stress level in IBT. So far it's been stable with 25 runs. I will go higher with the run counts. Temps according to RealTemp2.70 are as follows:

    Idle: core 1 - 47 core 2 - 47 core 3 - 48 - core 4 - 47
Load (during IBT): All reach 67 max

I'm no guru by any means, but do my temps/volts look good?

Thanks. It's actually not a stock cooler. It's a Thermalright xp120 with MX-2, but it's almost passive cause I have a SG-03 case where the PSU is so damn close to the heatsink. I have four 60mmx10mm fans in a pull configuration on the heatsink with the psu fan also helping and it all gets exhausted through the rear PSU vent. Also I just reapplied the MX-2 yesterday because one core was like 4 degrees higher than the rest all the time and it appeared that one core didnt have any paste on it at all when I first seated the heatsink. Hopefully once the paste is 'set' my temps will drop a dew degrees.

Run 4Ghz at low speed but as you can see from the screenie below cores get really hot quick, have reseated heatsink made no difference, do these temps seem ok?

Wow, you got a Q9550 with a 1.15 VID? Pretty awesome! I'm jealous! I got a C1 stepping Q9550 with a 1.25 VID and it takes 1.32v Vcore for me to hit 3.4 IBT and Prime stable. With those volts, you should be able to go much higher and stay within intel specs.

Cool. I've been lowering my Vcore down still and keeping it 15 runs IBT stable. Currently 1.22 idle 1.20 load. I will definitely keep going down down down.

Can someone help me with the voltages please? I got an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe X38 with an Q9550 C1.. i need to have 8x Multiplier and 450FSB to reach 1800MHz Memory

I have no idea what to put on here:

    Cpu VID -
    vcore - idle:
    Dram -
    SB core -
    NB Core -
    Cpu VTT -

Im currently running 6x450FSB = 2700MHz with AUTO settings EVERYWHERE, i just set the memory to 1800 and it changed cpu voltages and fsb by itself, CPU is 1.20v
