Cooler Master HAF 932 Case



This is the review of the Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower Chassis, and let’s just says this is a premium case.







Packaging







We received the package in great condition and were impressed by the display on the box.
The case came securely shipped within the package as you can see below.













Features



The first thing I noticed was the amount of fans that the case housed. There is a fan on the left side, one in the back, a clear one in the front with a red LED, and one on the top.







The case has 4 USB ports on the front of the case which allow for easy hookup access. The one thing that I really didn't like about the ports is that they are upside down. If you own a flash drive with the access light on the top, it will not be visible from these ports. Overlooking this possible assembly mistake by the manufacturer, the front of the case is flawless, with the red LED fan really adding a great accent.









Next we went to work putting this case together, and it was a very easy process.







The case is very builder friendly; with many convenient features that allow for quick construction. One of the first things that really impressed me was the optical drive bay system. The drive bay operates on a tray system that when you insert the drive, you click one simple button to secure the drive in.







Next, located right under the 6 optional disk drive slots is the very simple hard drive case system. The black trays are removable allowing for the hard drive to be inserted and an easy hook up to follow. I really do enjoy the option of having the multi-storage area for the hard drives. I was very impressed with this simple feature.







The next great option would be the ability to hide your wires on the right side of the system. You can run all of your wires to the back which allows for a neater look and more room to work.






As pictured below you can see how the wires are very nicely hidden on this side.







Final Thoughts







This is a case builders dream, allowing for very simple construction. Overall this case is one of the best options you can pick if you are building your dream system.









Overview



Packaging; 10/10 Frags: Superbly packaged. No complaints here at all.


Style; 10/10 Frags: Beautiful case. I wouldn’t change anything about it. Even some of the performance features adds to what is an already beautiful case.


Design; 10/10 Frags: Best designed case I have come across so far. It is perfect in every way with lots of thought put into wire management and airflow.


Features; 9/10 Frags: Lots of great features but can’t get past the upside down USB ports.


Price; 9/10 Frags: Reasonably priced at $160 MSRP and definitely worth the extra money for a great quality good looking case.





The case receives a 9.6 out of 10, which makes it Clan Team Xtreme approved!

I like the case a LOT myself but there are some things that should or could have been done differently. One issue I didn't like was how the cables come down THROUGH the 5.25'' bay drives, there should have been a hole for cable routing(I modded mine ) Also, when you put your 5.25'' drives through the front there is a part of the drive that might not be black and match the case that is showing from the left and right sides. My panels don't seem to like to sit properly either, I have to work with them a bit. Other than that and the USB ports being upside down as mentioned I love this case, best one I've ever used hands down.

Is the front fan you using a 230mm(if so which one) or a 120mm? I remember reading that you couldn't replace the front fan with anything other than a 120mm. That's the one thing that stops me buying this case for my second rig, the red front fan(I prefer blue lighting).

so u can take the side fan off or the top fan off and replace it with 120mm fans?

I just ordered some blue 5mm leds. The leds on the front 230mm are hot-glued in, so it's an easy pull/swap. I looked up the fan, and it takes your standard 5mm's. If nothing else, you can pull the red led fan and just stick one of the black ones in there.

What an awesome case! This thing is so user friendly, its unbelievable. We built my rig and used one of these this past weekend. It was a Clan Team Xtreme project that was a lot of fun. Thanks [cTx]biglipzit (Biggie) and [cTx]Sgt.Viper for all you guys did for me. Had a great time. Thanks again to [cTx]Grunt for the meal Saturday. I am in awe while playing Call Of Duty 4 on this bad boy! As you can see from my scores, I am playing much better now!

Gotta give this one a "9", as well. A couple of extra things to mention:

Most of the oversized stock fans can be easily swapped out for 1 or more 120mm if you prefer. Here are the fan specs from the CM website:
Front: 230 x 30 mm red LED fan x 1, 700 RPM, 110 CFM, 19 dBA (support 120)
Side: 230 x 30 mm standard fan x 1, 700 RPM, 110 CFM, 19 dBA (support 120 x 25 fan x 4)
Top: 230 x 30 mm standard fan x 1, 700 RPM, 110 CFM, 19 dBA (support 120 mm fan x 3 or 120 mm x 1 + 230 x 30 mm x 1)
Rear: 140 x 25 mm standard fan x 1, 1200 RPM, 17 dBA (support 120 mm fan x 1)
You can also put fans on the bottom, if you are top-mounting the P/S

Cool. This case keeps your rig cool. Did I mention VERY VERY COOL?

There are a few nice WC features (top filling port, rear tube holes, etc).

The hole in the mobo tray for the CPU is big enough to easily access all the screws for the HSF mounting plate.

The mobo expansion slots are mesh, allowing for airflow.

This case is a tank. Steel. Solid as a rock. Drop the side panel on your foot and it's gonna leave a mark. If it falls over onto your cat, the dog will celebrate.

I don't like the (really cheap) plastic latches for the expansion slots. I was a dumbass and tried to pull one instead of push it (as it shows in the manual), and broke one off really easily.

The fans seem louder than advertised. Not bad, but not 19db either.

The 3.5" HDD bay is mounted sideways in the case. IMO, there isn't enough space on the back side of the bay to allow for cables. This became very apparent when I mounted my 4x SAS drives in there (which require a funky adapter-type connector on the back of the drives). Four of those in there and there was a real cable mess behind the drives, and the tangle of cables wound up putting pressure on the connectors and causing some intermittent problems. Another 2-3" of width behind the drives would have been much better.

The uber-bright, poke my eyes out, searchlight blue power LED is horrible. Why not a nice low-output red led like on the front fan?

With as much fan-power as this case has, a quality fan controller would be a very nice addition. Since they are pricing this at the upper end of affordable for most people, I would say CM should put a fan controller on it.
