yeah, I either have a slightly defective board that I just live with, or it's my power supply, which is a Corsair HX-620. I've heard of compatibility issues with this unit (although I tried another power supply once when I was having the problem and it did the same thing, so who knows)

i should add...the board use to shutdown with the older bioses like 14...the shutting down thing didn't stop until we got into the 16 beta's...why don't you try one of those?

I'm on the 16 Final now, but maybe I need to do a more aggressive bios clear when I flash the 17 final. I'll try the procedure recommended here when I get home, I'll let you know how I make out. I'm trying to hold out from buying a new board until x58 comes out. :-)

Thanks again for all of your help Ace!

i think the manual says it is an auxillary power source...i presume you do it if you have many PCIe cards plugged in to the board and want to make sure they all receive adequate power...it is probably another way to feed the cards if there is a lot of resistance in the inlayed wires in the PCB that feed those slots with power.

check page 1-6 of your manual.

i would not think so...but...like always, if your overclock isn't stable when running benches, try plugging the molex in to see if that helps...that would be my only recommendation

    Hi all

i'm now runing my ip 35 pro bios 17 , with an e6750 @ 3.2 24/7 and happy with it , i'm thinking of having e8400 . my question is : is it worth upgrading ?

i mean , will i get any noticable performance gain ?

    thanks alot

well, looking at the differences, the E8400 clocks at a higher Mhz and the E8400 has 2mb more in the L2 cache.

what it really depends on if you can convince your wife that you need it!

i think the E8400 will clock to 3.5-3.6 ghz on stock voltages...

if your wife has given you the green light, i say go for it before she rescinds it.

I already got a 768 8800 GTX running on this board and someone is giving up PC gaming is handing me down another 768 8800 GTX...I know if I add this 2nd card I'm not running full speed on it...
...so is it even worth getting SLI 8800 GTX on this board?
...rest are in my sig....or should I give the 2nd card to another would-be PC gamer...he has P35 board but by Gigabyte forgot which one...and same CPU also

    thanks

you are better off getting X2 card even though this board operates at PCIe 1.1 specs.

go with a 9800 X2 card...it will just operate at PCIe 1.1 specs...the only thing is to make sure the card bios is compatible with IP35 Pro bios...make sure you have the latest bios installed.

I have one more question. What is JMicron SATA Driver V 1.17.37? Should I install it if I have Intel Matrix Storage and AHCI Driver installed?
