Things I want to change or do:
A new PSU, this one got only 5 molex (4 pins). After that I can cut holes..finally. Then I can spray it black. Then I can buy new CCFL's, purple/UV and green. New fans: Aerocool Turbine 1000 with a Scythe fancontroller.
And maybe cut 4 small holes for the CCFL switch.
But the money is the problem now

Hopefully I can post the results soon.

    Cheers,

Chiman... it took all of 5 minutes on that Vantec Stealth PS. MBRocketries was a lot more involved.

Metalrush: That's my dvd-rom drive. It's an ide one since I wanna keep the sata ports open for hard drives. Thanks for the compliment.

crazy8s846: if you look through the many pages of this thread, you can find how the mod was performed and pics as well as many other great ideas from the creative people on this thread. Good luck. Looks like you have to have a steady hand with the dremel.

Can you post some pics of the side how you mounted it?

I would really like it if someone could make a new plexi for it but i'll do what I can for the time being so I can cool down the new 280GTX better than I did with the 9800 GTX.

    Hi,

As a person said before. Simply cut those 2..euhm, things off on the side.

Well, its not that hard with a "dremel" its just 1 straight line you have to cut, very easy.

    Image:

As you can see. The red marking represents those 2 things on each side.
The green line is where you should cut it. Well, thats where I've cutted it.

After that. I removed the front of my dvd writer. But I only removed the front marked green, not the one which is marked red.

When that one is removed. I used glue, not a extremely strong glue. Just a simple one which you can break if needed. So glue that black foam on the red marked area and glue the front bay on the foam.
You might need to push the dvd writer a little bit back. After that. Everything should fit.
Thats how I did it then.

I did this because it was only ugly and I don't use the dvd writer very often. If I want to open it I just use a button on my google toolbar.

If there is anything else you need to know, call it!

    Greetz,
    Gelu

Hello, all. First time poster, long time reader. This thread inspired me to do some modification to my first gen Antec Nine Hundred case.

I didn't do anything as elaborate as most of the cases I've seen here, but I did do a little cable management, repainted the case, and put in some sound-activated CCFLs.

    Here's some pics:

Here's a video with the CCFLs.

Ok well got my 900 and I'm getting 2 12" UV cathodes what I want good exposure with, Ive bought a 4" UV replacement so that one 12 will be behind the top of the side door and the other bellow the rear fan. Then I'm getting a 12" red and 12" blue to fade from top to bottom so I'm thinking of places to put them without being seen through the window. My idea was to mount then just behind the border of the inside of the door.

Any ideas/photos of where you have your cathodes.

I bought one 15" CCFL and put it along the side of the case between the door and the drive bays. It's well hidden so you don't see it when looking in the window, but it lights the case up very well. I'll take some pictures of the CCFL inside my case if it will help you.

It may be tough to mount a 12" behind the bottom behind the border, since most of the space will be taken up by the PSU. Not sure if the same would be the case with other nine hundred users, but I'm pretty sure standard ATX PSUs are all the same width and height. About the best you can fit down there would be a 4" CCFL.

@ Titan_X: Nice silver paintjob. I am also in the Tampa Bay area. I just finished my A+ and I am currently working on my CCNA.

    @ CHiLD: I like your HSF.. I also spy a B18C.

@ Deckbuild: I am diggin' that Ultra Bay device. I might have to grab one seeing that I am not using 3 fans on the front at this time. I have a Blu Ray drive taking up a spot, and that Ultra Bay would fill in the other 2. I am waiting on slim Blu Ray drives to come down in price.

A few shots of the Minimalist 900 build completion... man this is clean!

    Specs:
    ECS GF7110PVT-M3
    Q6600
    2G Cruical Tracer
    2 x 500 RAID 0
    GeForce 7100
    Vantec Stealth PS

    Tight fit for the Zalman

    Backside wiring

By sailrabbit, shot with Canon EOS 30D

Build complete. More than enough speed and power for doing their homework. If the kids get good grades Santa may bring them a new graphics card. I have plenty of room in this one for a kick ass GTX.

Here is a pic of the Akimbo I just installed in my 900. Adding another one in SLI next month:

@ sailrabbit: grats on being the cool guy in the thread.

I'm going to have to mount the Zalman fan controller box where you did. As you might remember from my past pics, I mounted it in such a way that I need to remove the side panel to adjust.

(if you really want to get nit-picky on the cleanliness, add a black vinyl sticker to the one side of your optical drive to hide the silver, and black Lian-Li thumbscrews)

Your case is so clean and roomy it's askin to throw a party.

    Good job.

My recommendation is to by a step drill and a file.

I bought a 10-30mm step drill, its perfect, fit's straight into your standard power drill. Just drill a small pilot hole for it to get started pop it in and away you go as if your just drilling a normal hole.

cleanest holes i've ever seen, file it down to perfection give it a bit of a sand and it's smooth as, or just get u-channel moulding or grommets etc.

Best $20 i ever spent. I never thought i'd be game enough to make my own holes.

    Heh.. thx guys!

I thought about giving the DVDRW a shot of flat black, but you don't notice it through the side window so I passed. I wish I had on the red SATA cables.
