The car is a load of fun

...though, it's a shame that the US market didn't get the killer S50B32 engine, like the rest of the world did. BMW, for whatever reason, stuck us with the S52B32--still a kick in the pants, just a little less of one

BMW isn't the only company that's done this thing in the past

S52 is limited to 240bhp if i'm not mistaken because of the restricted intake manifold and some other stuff?
The trouble is when you get addicted to rwd cars fwd-ones just seem not to take the corners properly.

More than just the intake manifold... Swapping to the M50 manifold and making some other modifications (including a DME remap) helps to get some of that power back... However, the S50B32 engine is a double VANOS engine (variable intake and exhaust, instead of just intake like the S52), has a different lifter design (allowing for the higher redline), has a different cylinder head design, and (as I recall) the S50B32 was also equipped with six individual throttle bodies. The S50B32 was expensive to make and, as I recall, BMW wasn't too keen on selling the Euro. spec M(3) cars in the US due to concerns over the price being too high... so they cooked up the [cheaper to make and less powerful] S52B32.

That is just plain ridiculous. Even my father's 170bhp E39 has double vanos and they didn't put it in the Z3 M, US or EU matters not.
Same with the E30 M3 and Australia, due to to numerous reasons, it wasn't shipped.
The thing is that due to emission they often have to diminish the power of the engine and US has different rules than Europe.
Have you done any modifications to your car, engine wise?

Not yet--mostly just maintenance stuff for the time being (slowly working through replacing bushings all over the place, window sliders, etc.). The most cost effective way to get power outta the S52 seems to be forced induction, but that's pretty expensive... Either way, I have to wait and work on stabilizing the business before I'll ever really be able to go out and play with the cars.

...doesn't help that my future brother-in-law has been trying to convince my fiancee and I to pick up an E30 to turn into a track car so that he can have a couple more 'track buddies'.

Doesn't matter, important is that you have the car and there will be time for you to mod it.
Really glad to see those around here, Z3 M is really a proper old school hardcore bimmer, take care of it as i am sure you do.
I am kinda trying to gather some money and get me an inline-six E30, 2.5 or something, not some offspring but a decent one, just for a start because no way i could afford an E30 M3 in good nick.

    1998 Pontiac Grand Am

just passed 160k miles on it.

Recent peak city fuel economy: 20 mpg @ average city cruising speed: 45 mph
Recent peak highway fuel economy: 30 mpg @ average highway cruising speed: 78 mph

I bought it used nearly 4 years ago @ 87k miles for $3,500.

Only had to change the alternator so far (in terms of major repairs). It's been good. *knock on wood*

This is my card, a Honda Accord 2001 1,8i ES (European) with climatecontrol, cruisecontrol, bose ETC. Got 242,000KMs on it now, had a crash when dad owned it, new front, and new doors on it due to some rust, so the doors and front are resprayed.

This is the new Accord Tourer (europe).

This is the new Accord Sedan (europe).

And last, the amazing Civic for Europe!

It were released early 2006 here, the best looking hatchback over here.
Totaly diffrent from all other cars here, put Toyota and all the compeditors one generation back.
    This is the rear end of it;

Goddamnit i want one of those!
A small note about the Fit (USA & Asia), Jazz (Europe); "Honda originally intended to name the car Fitta, but the word's meaning in some languages — in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian, "fitta", "fisse" or "fitte" is a rather crude slang term for vagina — resulted in a last-minute change to Jazz." Thats why it got two names, same car!
