You keep talking about Prime Blend 12hrs...... Prime blend is NOT the test you want to run exclusively for stability. I've had 18hr Prime blends with no errors but couldn't pass 2 hours of Small FFT. We all know prime blend tests CPU and RAM. If you want to test CPU stability then Small FFT is the way to go.

Dude, 6+ hours of IntelBurnTest? Seems like overkill to me.

If my system passes 12+ of Prime Small/Blend, 12+ of Orthos Small/Blend and 4 hours of OCCT CPU/Blend then that's pretty good.

I often run 18+ hours on Prime/Orthos just to be sure. Then on top of that I'll give it a good 8-12 hours of Memtest86+

IntelBurnTest maybe 10-20 loops is more than enough for me. The temps get 10C higher than with any other program.

I fold 24/7 including during gaming and all regular use and once I find my stability with those programs, I never have crashes.

Let me state this i tried 4.4ghz 10 x 440 and 9.5 x 462 = 4.389 and the first one 10x failed in 20 min max using Orthos Blend volts 1.39 Full Load, Then i left voltage alone and the second attempt 9.5x (close enough to try for 4.4ghz) and Orthos Blend failed in 56 mins.

I have been overclocking for 20 years and ever since Prime95 came around i used it until Orthos came around (it is prime95, just a nicer interface is all) and like i noted i use to do 8 hours only, but i had issues here and there. I then would do 12hrs Minimum and i have never had issues with any of my overclocks PERIOD. We can argue about this all year or for 50 years as it does not matter as stability to one is not stabilty to another.

A friend of mine always runs Orthos Blend too, but he runs 24hrs-26hrs no less then 24hrs and he certainly has never had any issues with anything, just like i have never had any issues with 12hrs minimum Orthos Blend Test.

I fold, I game (lots of gaming) i have never had any issues related to OCing PERIOD ever and thats the truth, games crashed of game issues .. like drivers or game bugs, but never cause of OC issues.

As for IntelsBurnTest it can cause damage to the CPU and Degrade it ... go ahead run it for 4hrs a day for 2 weeks and see what happens and be Overclocked to 3.6gz-4.5ghz while your at it and Air Cooling too.

It is also inconsistant as i noted many times one time it passes, next time it don't, it needed 1.96v for memory to pass, but Orthos Needed 2.0v to do my 16hrs of prime...... you tell me which is better? .. i already know which is better for stressing.

8 hours of anything Orthos can do is NOT good enough ... PERIOD.

If ppl really want to claim 24/7 stability (including me) ... then 24hrs should be the minimum stable prime mark in Blend Testing, otherwise it is not 24/7 stable until anyone of us can do it at our OC clocks.

The thing that makes me wonder is that I'm not getting consistency out of IBT.

I ran 20 IBT passes and passed, but Prime failed after a very short run.

So I upped the vcore and now Prime just ran 17 hours.

On my E8400, IBT wouldn't pass 5 runs, but it would Prime for 18+ hours.

Both of these are with memory that ran Memtest86+ for 8 hours with no errors.

The temps to which IBT subjects the CPU during its runs are much higher than my CPU ever reaches doing anything else. So to do that for 6+ hours seems excessive to me. Again, to each there own comfort zone. If you need the stability that 200 IBT passes gives you, then that's your prerogative. It's your hardware and you know what you need and want out of it.

I'm ditching IBT. It's been useful for finding approximate stability while finding max clocks, but there comes a point where the heat is just too much, and like others have said, our CPU's never reach those kind of temps under any other circumstances. I wanna stress test my CPU, of course, and I would like to do it quickly, but I don't want to cook it! So here's me chickening out from now on. Thanks for all the good times.

I agree... i idle in the very low 30's and IBT scared that crap outta me.. I ran 30 and it passed 100% but my load temps were close to 80c too damn high.

BND, I have the same batch as you. I cant get it prime stable above 4330 1.360v. Im FSB limited on the Maximus Formula, I can get to 4.5ghz quite easily just can stablize it. Going to get a P5Q Deluxe and see what it will do.

Switching from a Zerotherm Nirvana to a lapped true also. Gonna do push/pull

that-s nice... tonight i-ll try at 4300 prime.... and then let you to know... today i reach 5051mhz.. with 1.5 in bios... but not stable, only get the validation and push it down... to my default at 4 ghz with XMP profile

He means, if he sees 50 similar examples of your success, then he's going to the store to get an E8600 too. Your English is very good, by the way.
