Its the same stuff guys... It doesn't make it bad, it's just the nature of CPU tech (as far as I've seen, and my 1st computer was a Commodore Vic20.. )

I would predict that early 45nm Denebs will compete quite well with well tuned 65nm X4's... Similar to how Brisbanes kept up with Windsor cores.

The 9950be is actually a pretty good chip... Hopefully Deneb will be able to beat it in the hands of a good tweaker, but it will still need a little time to mature.

I hope I'm wrong, but if history repeats itself (and I personally think it will), I wouldn't expect miracles from the die shrink/arch changes to Deneb...

I'm sure Deneb will get better with time, but I'm still waiting for Bulldozer.

I have no doubt that AMD can come back with a badazz chip similar to the X2, but I really don't think Deneb is what we're waiting for. It will keep them in the hunt, but it won't be the Intel killer we all want...
    AMD FX-8350 (1237 PGN) | Asus Crosshair V Formula (bios 1703) | G.Skill 2133 CL9 @ 2230 9-11-10 | Sapphire HD 6870 | Samsung 830 128Gb SSD / 2 WD 1Tb Black SATA3 storage | Corsair TX750 PSU
    Watercooled ST 120.3 & TC 120.1 / MCP35X XSPC Top / Apogee HD Block | WIN7 64 Bit HP | Corsair 800D Obsidian Case

First Computer: Commodore Vic 20 (circa 1981).

    this IPC change isn't much.

Only the lowly L3 has gotten nothing else really.

Where have 32 way L3 is now 48 wayL3 in deneb.

I think it's not going anywhere with low 2 way L1 cache then.

    Need 8 way L1 cache a boosted 48way L2 can keep L3 48 way too.

Add me in 16 sse1,2,3,4 pre-core that chip would be obnoxiously huge in in size lol then again we should be able to fit in that 1.5" square right ?

how knows maybe it will evolve like the ATI is going with GPU's....

As I recall, Brisbane cores initially struggled to hit what Windsors were. They launched at like 1.9GHz or something like that and had trouble with the mid-2GHz range. They've improved a LOT during their lifetime.

Anyone buy one of these things yet and play with it, or are we all still waiting for Deneb instead?
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

I'm going to get one in one week. I've already sold my crappy 140W 9950. It was not stable at 3.2GHz at all.
