    AliG, you're right.
Sorry, I misunderstood you. Looks like theres been a backflip in the naming system, probably a good thing IMO. A K10 based Athlon X2 would have been somewhat confusing.

1.6Ghz Hypertransport is not impressive at all. AMD really needed to make their specs exceed any Athlon X2 to make these worth while. I suppose they're just for the low power, low end market though.

what about availability of kumas? i hope this is not another paper launch. and yeah, native dual core would sound much better (and probably oc too)

AMD's naming convention is tops in this regard, nothing ambiguous I hope they keep it.

Kuma is something that AMD really needed and it's good to see this come to fruition simply because it helps out where the current bulk of the market really is.... aside from this, the other good news is that it really highlights the utter rubbish Fuad spews:

1.6 GHz does exceed the 1.0 GHz current HT implementation ... I suspect they are quoting the half duplex speed, the full duplex speed would be 3.2 GHz vs 2.0 GHz on X2 today.

Regardless, for a DT dual core product, even the slower HT is overkill.

NB speed is much more interesting than HT speed, and we have no info on this.

additionally i doubt that amd is going to release a 45W black edition and expect the BE to be clocked at 3ghz min, if the BE isn't clocked at those speeds it is a serious failure

these are no real kuma's, just agena en toliman with disabled cores, I don't think we will ever see a real dualcore k10, but rather disabled x3-x4 and a new brisbane like shrink since that would be very cheap to produce.

I've already had a debate on this with my fellow members. I used to think that Dual core Kumas were Agenas with disabled cores and the first batch may well be.

But true Kuma's are native dual core Phenoms. We know this now because AMD has been sampling them for its Fusion processor due for launch next year, which uses a dual core Phenom.

that's probably a 45nm phenom though, I'm nearly 100% certain that this is just a cut down agena, that's the only reason why I can see the clocks being so low (these are the bins)

I used to think the same, but recent roadmap give a whole other story. maybe nedjo can confirm this?

It makes sense to use disabled X4's for X2, since the 45 nm ones shows up soon anyway.
