If it's stable enough for what he uses it for, why run small FFT for 12+ hours? That's just obsene in my opinion... I have 3 hours worth of small FFT stability and I fold 24/7 without issue.
Does the f@home have a good error correction or does it check them at all?
When doing such important charity work I would make damn sure my results would be top notch.
