Look what I got today- I was wery suprised I havent expected E0
Looks promising. I'll be all over these bad boys if they can hit clocks/volts like that consistently. I can't bring myself to buy a quad core being that no program I use will ever use the extra cores. Where are these chips coming from, Germany?

I brought my E8400 down to 3.915Ghz. I will keep it at 1.55v and see if it continues to degrade. It is 15+ hours Orthos stable.

One thing that makes me wonder is that I ran Intel Burn Test the other week. My chip went up to 77 degrees. I can't rule out wether that had something to do with the degradation that I experienced.

Are these E0 Stepping E8400 available in US?
Pretty confusing. My E8400 has progressively gotten worse. used to need 1.36v at 4.01Ghz and now it needs 1.38 for 3.91.

Was 1.36v at 4.01Ghz your initial overclock. These chips seem to clock higher when you first get them, but need a little more juice after a week or so. It should be stable from here on out. Let us know if it continues to require more voltage.

You shouldn't experience any noticeable effects from running 1.36volts for some time.

It was, but that 4.01Ghz number now wants 1.425v under load to be stable. thats not a ''little'' more juice by any means unfortunately.

Probably going to pickup a E8400 E0 stepping next month once newegg gets rid of their C0 stock.

a big sigh mate, do not compare E8600 with E8400 totally ridicilous

By the way my E8400 does 8 x 500 at 1.21Vcore stable so the difference is big in price yet low on Vcore...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

How do you tell E0 stepping from C0 one? I've got brand-new E8500, pack date 8/7/08, Q822 batch. And why exactly E0 batch better than C0?

Does the S-spec number on the side say SLAPK or SLB9K? SLB9K is the E0 stepping....

Asus p5q - no vdroop. That'll be my next board.

E0 steppings: They'll be easily recognisable by the new sSpec numbers: SLB9J for E8400, SLB9K for E8500 and SLB9C for E3110.

Fry's, they are running special combo, e8500 + ecs mobo for $189 until tuesday (CPU alone goes for $199, lol). It's retail cpu, too It's funny, but the box and stock HSF is much smaller than e8400 package I got back in May (C0 stepping). Are these E0s supposed to run cooler, too?

Weird thing, the E0 e8500 hangs on boot with this Fry's crappy ECS mobo but the C0 e8400 works just fine... is the cpu dead? or just not supported by the motherboard?

EDIT: NM, bios didn't support E0s out of the box. I've updated the bios, so it's all good now So it's warning to those who are buying new E0 stepping cpus along with new mobos - mobos may not support them out of the box ECS came out with new bios only a month ago, maybe others did it much earlier than that...
