what ram you running? 2X2gb? 2X1gb? 1333mhz? 1600mhz? 1800mhz?

not many ppl still playing with this board it seams. it looks to me like the memory controller is flawed on all p45 chipsets.

The newer ones are pretty ok.
The 85MOAI was very bad, sold it off.
Skipped the 86 and bought the 87MOAI
Much better but still not to my liking.
(Bought RE in the end. )

ok so I'm having a hard time going over 515fb I dunno if it's a board or cpu issue. I did lash to the 1201 bios but afaik they are not as good as the 1103's

Already tried tons of settings from auto to manual. One single module or both, single or dual channel, switching among four slots...no difference at all, I always get a BSOD, freeze, etc.
Last settings I tried is with BIOS 1201 leaving all on Auto except on freq set at 1066Mhz and voltage set at 1.76v: I have been able to run superpi and perform 4M calculation (first time cause it always freezed the pc), OCCT 1 hour.
Then I tested 3d Mark and after a few minutes I get a bsod. Finally I left the pc on for the night, no apps running, and in the morning I saw it got another bsod.
Yesterday (same settings as above) I've tried to run Prime95 but it stops after like 5 minutes saying there is an hardware error.
Dunno what to do...last chance is to try some spare parts (RAM, VGA, PSU, ecc) but I don't have them...or go RMAing this mobo and buy another model...

just got this board few days ago. had along of probs with entering bios it just hangs and managed to get some settings for my ram running now at

dram freq 667.9 mhz
fsb:dram 1:2
8/7/7/27
ram voltage at 1.8v
NB voltage at +.15
cpu e 8600 auto settings
bios is v1201
vista ultimate 64bit

so far stable but are my settings correct ?
p/s : rest of my specs are on my signature & i managed to oc to 4 ghz but it was unstable so now back to auto settings except those above.

did you try 1103 bios? they are still a tad flaky but they are much better than 1201.

Am I going to wish I had read this before? Anyways, i'm not that worried, as newegg is great with refunds. And this board can't be nearly as hard as BlackOps.
I'm using 2x2gb mushkin RAM though, anyone tried mushkin with this board?

this thing is fishy with 2gb modules thats all I know, I have 2x1gbs and have never had a problem at all, even running all 4 gbs

so what i hear is basically, since i have 2x2gb ddr3 1600, as long as i don't mind running it at 1333mhz (which i dont), i'll be fine on this board.

Hi guys, been reading these forums for quite a while and felt compelled to post. I'm glad some peeps still have this board.
Anyway had this board about a week, got some OCZ 2x1GB 1800mhz to go with it and nothing but trouble, couldn't oc anything and mem was only stable at 800mhz.
So i swap them out for Corsair 2x1GB XMS3 1600mhz and now its all sweet!
X.M.P. profile worked on 1st boot aswell.

Here's was a quick oc just to see if it posted.



So its not all doom and gloom for this board

They won't be. It's a fundamental problem with the P45 chipset's ability to handle the traffinc of 4gb of ram in dual channel at high speeds. It can't handle that much information at clock speeds above 1333mhz (apparently) without keeling over from noise.


EDIT: Anyone have a 600+ fsb validate on a dual or single core CPU?

I'm considering putting a P4 on this thing at some point.

I can finally boot at 2000mhz with bios 1303 Now to play with timings.

yeah i just loaded v1303 bios ! works great here are my settings ... no more boot hang up for now

8/7/7/27 @ 1.78V
dram freq 666.6mhz
cpu V 1.176 @ 4ghz x 10 multiplier
everything else set on auto

my system is running alot more faster now & smooth ... set in bios 1200mhz dram freq but going to try other settings

messed around but not too good but at least i can run now for time being. had 2 restarts while in windows
but after setting back to 1066 it's ok now with higher voltages for ram 1.90 n cpu 1.19.
hope to see a stable bios with more settings info.

Where on earth are you guys finding v1303 o_O. I got it from the link up there, but it's nowhere on Asus' website as far as I can tell. Don't really want to use it unless I know it's from them xD. And yeah, is there a changelog?
