i have them,, 1200mhz isnt easy with any ram from what i personally have tested. on this board
my gskill 6400 HZ which easily do 1200 on other baords would make the baord not boot if i tried it. i cant make 1200mhz work for nothing.

what volts are you running you do NOT need more then 2.0v for 1150mhz 5-5-5-15. if you do,, sorry you got a turd set. lol.
i run mine at 1.98v (bios reading and DMM )

are you guys talking about going back to the OLD OLD 0308 bios ? or are you talking about a hacked bios ?

Rampage bios, if you flash to Rampage bios you can get that ram stable @ 1200, I'm quite certain of it.

Clock Skew on a rampage bios is your ram's best friend.
I have the worst set of GSkill ram on the planet and I can them stable at 1135MHz with the proper Clock Skew settings.

I am getting Flash Fever again. I am still sitting back at Maximus BIOS 1004. I don't flash too often, but I could run my Q6600 faster with lower volts on 907. I have been no lover of 1004, but never opted to update it as of yet.

I have to admit that every time I come back to this thread, there seems to be way more excitement generated for doing the Rampage Conversion. I have resisted so far, thinking it would be best to stick to the BIOS'es made directly for the Maximus SE.

For the first time I find myself thinking Rampage BIOS 308, might be for me.

If there is many of us old Q6600'ers still around, and do you have any strong opinion on the best BIOS to run? (Maximus or Rampage)

    Q9300 troubles :shakes:

    Hello,

I hate to admit it, I just can't get my Q9300 stable,
despite my over a decade lasting experiences in overclocking.
Here is my current situation: Most system crashes/freezes are
accompanied by several WMIxWDM errors, Event type 122. Bus Interconnect
error. They occur a few times in a row before the system hangs up.
See bottom of this post for error details

To me this feels like an error on the FSB...it annoys me terribly
that I've got no clue what else could cause this besides the FSB GTL
reference, the FSB termination voltage and the CPU VCore.

My current board is a standard Maximus Formula V1.03 with Rampage BIOS 0308,
    running a Q9300 at 3.26 GHz. 4x1 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 RAM

Another question: 1.40V FSB term. volt. are usually being considered the limit
for 45 nm CPUs. Does this refer to the ASUS' BIOS setting, or to the ACTUAL
sensor readings which are usually 0.08V below the bios setting?

Anything Maximus after 907 the bios's were geard towards 45nm cpu's
Rampage is a awesome bios, it adds many options to tweak ram and gives better GTL ref for 65nm chips.
308 Rampage is the best imo so far for bandwidth, the recent 407 is mainly for the new cpu's that hit last week 8600 and 9650 ( someone correct me if I'm wrong.)
ZenEffect had his board die on him with a Rampage flash, rma'd it to Asus with the rampage hack still on it and they sent him a new board.
So the warranty should not be an issue if thats holding you back.
I get better clocks and lower volts on the Rampage with my 6600 and 6700.
I would recommend the conversion to anyone it is worth it.

    Thanks for the reply.

I think the next CPU I will jump to is a QX9650 when the price drops low enouigh for humans. Does the Rampage 308 already know how to deal with that CPU, or would that be another flash down the line?

    Thanks.

I can understand that, I'm in no hurry to sell my Kidney to buy a cpu.

    QX 308 can handle it.
I just took advantage of the nice price drop on the 9550, from 599.00 to a resonable 361.99.

Hey guys, I have an odd problem with my Maximus Rampage conversion. I've never had an issue till I decided I wanted an Nvidia card instead of ATI. I've tried 2 MSI 8800GTS cards and 1 Evga 9800GX2. None produce a video signal on my board yet the computer boots. If I wait long enough and enter my PW, I hear the Vista music as it goes to the desktop with a black screen. I put the ATI 1950 back in and no video problem. I took the 2 8800GTS cards and put them in other rigs. 1 an old DFI 965 and the other in a P5Q. Those cards work perfectly on those boards. I haven't tried the 9800GX2 on another board yet because it means breaking down the Maximus Rampage and stealing the power supply or buying another power supply capable of running 2 GX2s and I'm leaning towards the latter.

Any ideas as to why my board hates Nvidia? Anyone else had the problem?

Just finish finding the 24/7 setting for E8600
didn't get what I expected, it's way too hotter than E8400
I manage to get 4.23Ghz at 1.256v, can't push further vcore, too hot here now in northern Califonia.

first thing is your NB is WAY too high. you dont need anything more than 1.35-1.4v for NB. 1.6v is just rediculous.

your adjusting all those ram timings and frankly you dont need to your ram is only 800mhz.

set everything to auto. run the ram at 5-5-5-12 2.0v

performance level of 8 is way wrong too.

frankly, your messing with ram settings that are doing you more harm than good considering your ram is only running 800 and some odd mhz....
just disable or set all those extra settings to auto.

Another question: 1.40V FSB term. volt
thats not true FSB term can go alot higher.

0.08v below bios settings ? not sure where you got that. the Maximus OVERVOLTS BIG TIME on ram, NB, VTT and FSB Term. so you should check with a DMM on the baord.

i think someone or something is leading you down the wrong path and your massively overvolting everything or atleast some things and your messing with the ram and trying to make it run way off kilter.

    Oki guys, big problem!

When I booted my computer today, there was no connection to my monitor, mouse and keyboard. My screen just stays black, after blinking analog/digital for some seconds. Furthermore my keyboard and mouse always blinks 5secs after I boot it.

Normally that is not a problem for me, as I just turn off the power completly, until my motherboard is turned off fully, and then it boots properly. And I've done it many times.

But today it didn't! I can still not get any connection to my screen etc.

I've tried to clear CMOS, and have removed the motherboard battery 2 times. 1st time for 2-3mins. Second time for 20mins.

    Still nothing!

Can anybody help me please - and quick please!

    Sincerely yours!

My system is as showed in my signature - except the HDDS (4x1 Samsung 1tb F1's)

From what I've seen the FSB Term voltage reads as undervolting in bios. I set mine at 1.34 and it reads about 1.24 in bios (again, maybe those readings are off, but the RAM overvolts about 0.08, which is fairly accurate according to what we know.) PLL also overvolts by 0.1v according to the bios.

    I haven't checked anything with a voltimeter.

I do recall the Intel specs stateing that 45nm max FSBT was 1.40.
I think others will confirm this in the E8400 thread I know he has a quad but should be able to get the correct max value there.
4x1GB will tax the NB alot harder than 2 sticks so setting 1.35 might be a little on the low side, I would set maybe 1.45 and work down from there, I also agree 1.61 is insane for NB volts.
PL 8 is high for 1:1 PL 7 or 6 should work but regardless that would not cause his problem. 5-5-5-15 vs 5-5-5-12 offers nothing. Only thing that would/ could tell a difference would be a Everest bench.

my gskill 6400 HZ which easily do 1200 on other baords would make the baord not boot if i tried it. i cant make 1200mhz work for nothing.

what volts are you running you do NOT need more then 2.0v for 1150mhz 5-5-5-15. if you do,, sorry you got a turd set. lol.
i run mine at 1.98v (bios reading and DMM )

are you guys talking about going back to the OLD OLD 0308 bios ? or are you talking about a hacked bios ?
