I leave my strap set to auto and just pick the freq im after - not that it should matter but just incase the board does not like that for some reason...

I will be happy to trade my ram freq of over 1200 for the 5000 that your cpu will do that mine wont go near

IS the new bios any better over 1103/0704? I dont have experience with p45 but if I want to run my Q6600 @ 445x9 (4ghz). How much NBv and FSBv, do I need? and What strap works on the given fsb , and what is the lowest PL i can expect?

Have you tried setting NB strap to AUTO, then selecting a memory speed that would be using the 400 strap? Does that work?

I have to play a bit more with mine, I know it's not my memory stopping me going 1200+, as it is orthos stable at 1200 MHz at 2.1v real using PL10 and 1.26v vNB. Then if I raise it 1MHz higher, no boot.

No dice huh. I tried the same thing in a vain attempt to hit over 1200 but it didn't work either. Nor should it really, it should be the same as selecting the strap manually. However I remembered someone saying AUTO was more stable. I had no trouble with 400 strap and 1103 though, so it seems to be isolated to your board/bios.

Perhaps you should try to re-flash your bios, that is certainly a strange problem. Perhaps give 1201 a go (on the FTP) to see if that helps? Either that or downgrade to 0803.

    I don't think so?

You would need to slipstream the latest INTEL ICH10 drivers onto your O/S installation CD, well at least thats what you would need to do using WinXP Pro but I'm not sure about Vista (does it has native ICH10 drivers?).

I need the ICH10 drivers myself to slipstream my XP disk (already did ICH9 this way) as I fancy giving AHCI another bash!

WTF is right. Now, even 1103 is not there? 1201 and 1103 have been removed. I just downloaded them both 15mins ago and when you posted that, I checked and both were gone.

EDIT: Now they are back up. I'm now thinking I should download them both again in case there was something wrong with the ones they removed.

**EDIT** - I am not chatting about the bioses 'being up or not' - I am genuinely concerned that something was wrong with the versions that were removed. Just downloading and preparing to install a new bios, and having it removed from the site immediately after I have downloaded it, is cause for genuine concern. I will obviously not be upgrading it until it appears to be completely issue free. Please refrain from making incorrect assumptions about my motives.

Guys plz do the multi quote thing, this thread will become too large if you reply to each question seperately... if ya want to add a thing, edit ya previous post if no other reply has been done already after your post... this starts to look more like a chatbox between a few peeps then a solution thread and daily we add a few pages here without the chitchat...

And read out Vcore via CPU-Z or co...

And plz stop the posts about the bios being up or not... getting pretty hilarious....

Oh to BeastNotro who wanted the vcore read points, here is a pic of the P5Q3 board which is apparently the same read points as ours. Thanks to whoever took this photo (he said we could use it ages ago but I have forgotten his name )

The new bios seem to cause instability for me. Haven't tried 1201 yet though. So i've stuck with 0803 for now. Was wondering if anyone could suggest different voltages/tightened timings? If I drop my DRAM? Not sure if I ever actually use the full 1081mhz range. All I do is play some source games. Anyway this is what I found to be a good solid stable 3.6ghz on an e8400 cooled with a tuniq tower, 1 raptor 80gb sata drive with 4gb of mushkin redline or tucked into an antec 900 nicely. Temps are PERFECT, nothing is near the danger zone.

Hmm windows Vista does not need driver at installing time and its werid the updates will corrupt raid unless it is not a proper driver.

Make sure to note what drriver update it was and don't install it again and if you can find out what it is can you post it here so others don't download it.

    thks

As for you raid being toasts i would say so ... thats its corrupted now ... use Bart PE and backup what you need .. and format and reinstall OS all over again.

Vista tries to give my network adapters new drivers and they actually bork my up so, I wouldn't doubt that any.

    One point to make:
