Maximus Extreme - Results/Info/Bios

has anyone flash the maximus extreme with the rampage extreme bios?

maximus formula with the rampage formula works fine but maximus extreme with rampage extreme?

the 1102 bios is for q6600 very bad. back to 1007. that was the best bios for me. but i have probs with my g15 with this bios in games.

with the 1007 i can run my q6600 @ 8x450 an my corsair dominator 1800@ 7-7-7-20 24/7 prime stable @watercooling.

Yes you can flash maximus extreme with rampage extreme bios but you can not change volts.

2 completely differant boards in this case , voltage regulation is not even remotely related , due to the 12 phase cpu 3 phase NB and 3V Fujitsu chips on the Extreme. Not worth the effort in my book i doubt you would see any gains even if you could adjust the voltages due to the huge variations in the 2 boards.

asus seem to have pulled the 1104 beta bios , i have it installed and it seem ok on here

ahh its still there but on another link http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=850 i think it just has an update to the micro code to support the e8600

ich have big problems with this card. the system hangs in bios after 1min. furmark hangs on after 1min....

been running 2gb of ocz pc3-16000 oc73p2000eb2gk @ 1761 with q6600 @3.97
but by adding another 2gb it wont post @3.6
tried 1004/1102/1104 bios
tried upping nb voltage to 1.71v

and its a ram limitation of 1500mhz with 4 sticks of ram with this board which is a bit disapointing

wonder if we'll get any newer bioses for maximus to improve fsb as the rampage seem to do 600fsb pretty easily with the e8600s whereas the maximus struggles at much more than 500 fsb

I wish I still had my screenshots of my E8500 (R.I.P.) had that sucker up just past 550 fsbX9.5 on my extreme, it's all in the GTL's and your nb volts should always be just a tad higher than your FSB termination volts and she'll fly up. Or are you talking about just on the E8600?

the max i ever had was on phase cooling which was 540fsb see the cpuz in my sig but anything above 520 and its flakey, wheras the rampage board is getting 600+ fsb virtually on auto settings and the rampage is x48 which is just a higher binned x38 so hopefully a new bios will unlock some extra fsb

Thats wierd but it dont surprise me much, at least with this board we dont have to deal the the p5q3dlx issues they have like 100 pages of problems and it's only a few months old. BTW can anyone tell me where the damn bios chip on this board is? maybe it's right in front of my face and I'm just not seeing it, but it is pissing me off trying to find it.

I've currently got BIOS 1001; and have been running my system with a 24/7 clock of 3.6G with a Q6600.

Later this year I hope to get hold of a QX9770; not sure if I'd need to update my bios for that, or will it run happily under 1001?

Last week i bought.

Asus Maximus Extreme Intel X38
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 2.40GHz (Meant to be able to OC at 3.30GHZ
Corsair 2GB DDR3 DHX 1333C9DHX Twin3

I have never overclocked before i want to try and achieve 3.20GHZ if i can as some games need it (according to Steam anyway)

Could someone tell me step by step how to do this!

My friend just bought this motherboard.... it posts fine and boots up windows but when it goes through the "found new hardware" stage but then it locks up when it reaches "usb controller" Any help would be much appreciated!!

installed on mine can't tell any difference still same max fsb , i thought some of the rampage extreme max fsb would have rubbed off but alas not but works ok at all same votages speeds as 1104

NB is sick....maybe you run 2x2gb if possible

I got 4 x 1 GB Cellshocks @ 1700 @ 7-6-6-15 for 24/7 standard.
If you want to get to 1800 u need "much" more Vnb.
And I realised that with the tighter timings the RAM-performance is even better than @ 1800 @ 8-7-6-18.
