    thanks a lot _hiVe

I'm using a master/slave surge protector which means I turn on/off my other connected stuff as well (monitor, audio) which feels pretty pointless.

Unfortunately I'll have to wait to run 400 fsb again as cooling ain't sufficient.
333x9 runs at all voltages stock 24h orthos stable so i like it

    Thanks for the info guys...

It works only after BIOS 1.6 if I'm not mistaken. Earlier BIOSes won't work.

Not sure if this post belong here.
    Juz wanna share my joy.
D other day i took out my dead E4300 and cleaned it up...
then chucked back into my neo2...
    the chip booted!...

    Weird..
I thought i killed my chip due to poor insulation or what so ever...
then i re do the mod...
    it worked again....
    Back to default 3ghz...333x9....
    Happy with this board

btw, removing all the fsb jumpers does turn my E8400
    to boot @ 400 x 9 on default boot.
    Its works for mine.

Im getting bsod, HERES THE WEIRD THING: My PC-s is on for a few days and then the sound just shuts off, i get error if opening a movie that the sound device is faulty or smth :S i then do a restart, Vista closes and then shows a blue screen of death informing me of a USB device or something.
What the frick?? I have the CPU on 3GHz with no volts added. What can cause this? I just had my 750i MSI sold to get this board cause i had artifacts when watchin MOVIES, I MEAN WTF now...

So with the 750i board you had artifacts? Your sure the graphics card is OK?

Yes, it was the board 100% I mean i know hardware a lot, and i had artifacts in divx movies only :S like i if i let movies be on over the night the PC would do a restart at night sometime, if just watch it it at one moment goes all artifact frenzy, push two clicks and freez. i had a big thread over at MSI forums. Now bought this and omfg, again headache, why cant stuff just work.

    My current PC:
    • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2,40GHz "SLACR G0" + ASUS Silent Knight Copper
    • nVidia XFX Geforce 8800GT 512MB GDDR3 + Zalman VF-1000

    • 1Tb 2x500Gb Samsung Sata II
    • Seasonic 700W M12 Modular

I mean if it would be unstable because of the overclock it should do restarts and stuff not just cut off my soundcard, what the frick.

I've read that people have had problems with integrated sound on MSI boards, sound did not work from the get-go and/or the sound died after a while. Perhaps you could try disabling the sound in bios and see if the artifacting/crashing disappears?

    Got this chip on sunday..
    Very low $200SGD range...
    Intel E7200 1066fsb 2.53ghz / 3mbL2 cache....

Didn't have much time to test that day...
just a few 32mil runs for the time being...

    Its no slouch....
    Not bad...
gives the E8400/8500 a good run for its $$.....
Share some results with you guys here.

Highest i did on default 3D voltage is 3.4ghz on my Neo2-Fr :

4ghz required 1.35v in bios for mine....
    still pretty good...

1.4875v in bios to do 4.275ghz...
    450mhz x 9multi

    500 x 8 :

I am still on bios 1.85b currently.

I would really like my setup to work 8x533 1:1. I can´t get it to boot higher than 500x8. Any hints to get it working? I think both my board, cpu and memory should do 533FSB, but not together.

Building a budget gaming rig as I need to buy a laptop for college and after reading through this thread, this board seems like the best bang for buck board around atm

Think it will push a good Q6600 to 3.6-3.8ghz?

    Planned Specs

    Q6600
    MSI P35 Neo2-FiR
    2x2gb OCZ Platinum PC2-8000
    Asus 8800gts G92
    Corsair TX650

    Thanks!

everything looks good to me cept u might wanna look into buying a stick of kingston 512 667MHz ram(under$20 most places) cause you will most likly have to use those ram to boot to bios an manually set ram timings for the ocz set

    hope ur build goes well,enjoy

I've seen a few people hitting 4GHz on that Intel E7200 chip and at relatively low volts too, currently the best bang for bucks IMO if your on a budget.

seems it was me being to drunk and not connecting the 4 pin power connectot to the board , but now its working along nicely...

tho it seems to have 1.3 bios version , did they add 2:3 mem divider option inthe later bios versions cause i could really use it

Just read the entire thread... that was fun . Anyways, I have a couple of questions:

    1. Where is the vcore measurement point for the board?

    2. Are there any chips on the board that run extraordinarily hot that would benefit from some small heatsinks?

For those who want to know, 4 x 2gb works perfectly, and to my surprise there's no decrease in perfomance from 2 x 2gb.

I've had this board for a while and am having trouble overclocking my new e8400 (not one in sig). Would updating to the newest bios (http://download1.msi.com.tw/files/do...xe/7345v19.zip) solve the problem do you think? If so how do you do it? I know there's instructions in the zip file but it says for win98/winME.

    Thanks

EDIT: forgot to mention that i'm currently using bios V1.8

Ignore my previous post, I went ahead and updated to BIOS v1.9 using Liveupdate and it went swimmingly

The only problem I have now is that when I first switch the PC on it stays onthe "Marvell 88SE61xx Adapter Intitalizing" screen for about 30 seconds

Has any1 else had this problem after upating their Bios?

    Cheers!

I'm pretty sure the new Wolfdale E0 stepping needs a BIOS update, so maybe that's what the v1.9 BIOS is all about, I have not tried it so can't comment

I've tried de last oficial bios (v1.9) but I dont like it, well.. I had the stock 1.1 bios and now I have a big vropp. Before for 3.2ghz I needed 1.3v to be stable, but now with that vdropp i have to set 1.35v in bios and then fall to 1.31v

    PD: using a e4400
